I'm new to this forum but have been "lurking" since we first started to consider buying into DVC. Now that we DEFINITELY plan to buy, I need some advice. Two questions:
(1) for the same price, which location do most of you out there prefer: Wilderness or Boardwalk? WL is beautiful and really appeals to us with its rustic air, but BWV has such a beautiful sight from the balconies & is in the middle of everything. Decisions, decisions..... :confused3
(2) Are the non-Disney choices for vacations (say Europe) really good or just so-so? We live in Fla. & don't need to go to Orlando all the time, & we'd like some variety if the other choices are good. Anyone been there? Done that?
P.S. If it helps, we're talking not-too-active 50something adults here, no kids or grandkids in the horizon.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

WARNING! I am addicted and have the add-on bug real bad! YMMV!

Here's my take:

Life is short (and depending on your age, getting shorter every day!)

So why decide. Instead of a 150 point master contract from Disney, why not buy two 75 point contracts resale. 1 for BWV and 1 for VWL?!

Here is the good news.....

Any decision you make will be great, this is Disney & the DVC!

Good Luck, can't wait to welcome you home!

We own both VWL (150) and BWV (50) and have stayed at both. We got bit by the add-on bug too!!! I found VWL to be nice and quiet, kind of removed from everything. We also like the rustic aspect to it. BWV definitely has more activity, and you can hear the fireworks from Epcot in the evening (even if you can't see them). The boardwalk is great to stroll along in the evening.

I think I agree with Greenban.....buy 2 contracts!!!! This way you get the best of both worlds!!!

The best use of DVC is DVC. If you are going to primarily trade there are better options available.

Agree with others that said to consider two contracts. Buy half as many points as you need for the length of time you want at each resort. Using banking then you can go every other year alternating between the two resorts.

I would probably go with the BWV for their location.

The best use of DVC points is at the DVC properties. That being said, my understanding is that Disney is fairly particular about trade out resorts, so my guess is that you would have the same level of quality at a trade out resort as you do at a DVC resort.

If you feel you will be attending activities at Epcot (Food & Wine, etc.) then I would definitely go with BWV. We toured VWL and I thought the resort was beautiful but felt like we would get tired of it in a hurry.
