HELP Just arrived and so unhappy

I will take this one step further, it is not up to Disney to provide a place for the athletes to practice, it is up to the individual teams! The noise restrictions should be routinely enforced and the groups should adhere to them no matter what they are there for. If they need to practice, they need to book a practice facility and a motorcoach to take the to practice. Otherwise, keep it quiet! It is a hotel facility, NOT a cheerleading facility. :thumbsup2

Well, if Disney is "hosting" them or what not, they should just have a separate resort. :hippie:

I'm so glad that you worked this out!

We spent one trip at ASMO and it wasn't for us. There weren't many cheerleaders at that time but it was to me a noisy resort and totally not what we expected. I hope that the new place suits you!

It would be nice if there was a way you could complain about the cheerleaders behavior to the organizer of the event instead of just Disney.

Wow that is to bad. Disney should let people know when they are going to be there and at what resort so you can avoid them.

Just wondering, what does this mean? Is it still a Disney Resort, how is it not run by Disney?

That poster was WRONG. The Coronado Springs Resort is a DISNEY owned and operated resort just like all of the other Disney resorts. Yes, it is a convention resort (as is the Contemporary and other Disney resorts). It is the restaurants that are not owned and operated by Disney but by an outside vendor. We've stayed at the CSR eight times and we know for a fact that it is a DISNEY resort...run and owned.

Oops, I see someone (several someones) beat me to it. CSR itself is run by Disney, but the Food Court is not. "That poster [me!] was WRONG" in this case.

I was trying to speak to the assumption many folks make that everyone walking around WDW with a "CM" name-tag works directly for Disney and that is not always the case (for instance, the coffee-kiosks in Epcot are run by an outside company, the resort car-valets are employees of an outside firm and so on).

Sorry about any misunderstandings,
agnes!

I'm so sorry this happened to you, OP.
I can't wait to hear how you like your new resort location.
I had no idea about sports teams or cheerleaders being at Disney until I started reading it on here.

Yes, it seems almost every month there is some type of sporting event going on. We've known about this for over ten years as our oldest son (now 24) played in the baseball tournament (Salute to Baseball) at Disney when he was in 8th grade. They had the kids staying at the All-Star Sports or the CBR. Son returned the favor and took his team that he coaches this year. They stayed at the CBR. This tournament always runs over 4th of July.

Erin......hopefully you will like SSR. I have a friend at work who is a DVC member and SSR is their Disney "home". They LOVE it and go down a couple of times a year. Wanted me to book it for our trip there in November this year, but it was more than I wanted to spend. Let us know how it turns out. Are you having to pay the difference or are they comping you?

Hope SSR is treating you nicely. I remember when I was at ASMu in March 2007. The resort was full of cheerleaders and teams practicing. They were loud and obnoxious. I just looked past them and didn't allow them to ruin it for me. Yeah the food court was crazy at times! I just went back later or ate a snack I had packed.

Ive only stayed at ASMu. Going back for my 3rd time in June...It's more familes then, but I enjoy it. Sorry it wasn't for you!

PrincessErin,

Any news? Hope you were moved to an awesome room! I'm a teacher, too, and yes, we can take certain levels of noise. But you're on vacation and deserve your peace and quiet.

Keep us posted!!! :goodvibes

I think I may have made a big mistake.....we are staying 7 nights at CBR and then 1 night at ASMu (my niece requested it) from March 14-22. I knew about the lacrosse and baseballs teams at both resorts but now I am concerned about cheerleaders!

I have been thinking about this for a bit. At first I thought okay if it bugs you move. But then my thought process changed. You are paying probably more money then they are to stay there and you deserve just as much respect as any other place. There are noise ordinances where I live and if you don’t abide them you get a ticket. I don’t mind kids having fun but if it means rudeness and a diminishment of service then it is interfering with your entitled enjoyment. Why doesn’t Disney provide a central place for practice and enforce no practicing at the resorts??? I would certainly push for the fast passes. I hope things work out for the best.

Been on both sides of this arguement. I'm a former cheer coach who attended for several years (as recently as last year!)...and I'm a mom who takes my kids to disney...well, "often".

1.) The cheer teams pay MORE than the regular guests. I know disney's rates...I paid way more than I should have to be in the cheer packages. This is a large money maker for both Disney & UCA. On average, one room (of 4 people) pay approx. $650 EACH ($2500 total for one room!). This is for a 4 day stay (Fri-Mon) and this includes no food. (2 "vouchers" for food courts.)

2.) It is annoying... I get that... but these teams worked hard for the opportunity and paid alot to be there as well. Should they be practicing loudly at 10pm? No...they should abide by the rules/curfew. But they SHOULD be able to do some light practicing on open fields as they do. Why not? Random little kids run rampant on the fields all the time anyway...who is to say they can't as well.

3.) I FIRMLY believe that WDW should ABSOLUTELY warn other guests ahead of time (booking) that cheerleaders will be everywhere. They know the date about a year ahead of time.

Hope you enjoy Saratoga! It's my home resort...if noise and food courts are bothersome at All Stars... Saratoga is the complete opposite. Great food court and complete peace/quiet on the grounds.

Many people love either resort. You can run into obnoxious guests (noisy, drunk and so on) anyplace on-property, not just the Mods or Values.

Absolutely. Rude and obnoxious comes in all forms! We know no one here would be! :cutie: But rudeness is not exclusive to youth or sports.
Hope the op is having a marvelous time acclimating to her new surroundings!! :cloud9:

If this is the case, Disney should block off a whole resort (or more if needed) in advance and have the resort for these teams only. I understand that they make money on them, but is it worth running off families that might vacation at Disney yearly for many years in the future. Disney really ought to have more consideration for both sides. Isolate the teams from the families!

I am well away of that and I pack ear plugs for all Disney trips. DH and DD can sleep through the ocassional loud guest or family. But large groups of cheerleaders practicing cheers after 10pm is a whole different thing.
