HELP Just arrived and so unhappy

I'm confused.
If you've got a package, your tickets should be on your room key, right? Those are given out regardless of whether or not the room is ready.

No room at all was ready? Not even the original? How were you on the internet from a laptop? There's no wireless at the All Stars right? So if you're in a room, you've got your key so the ticket should be on it.

I'm also genuinely curious what was dirty and unkept at the resort.

I'm confused as well. You can't be using wireless internet at All Stars unless you were on your phone, and you've already said you were on your laptop. :confused3

Why wouldn't you just go to the Parks? Your keys don't have your tickets on them? I can't really see a hotel manager not giving you your tickets.

How do you know your room was dirty if you didn't get to go to your room?

I have been in the OPs situation, but it wasn't at disney.. it was at a hotel in DC during the Hall of Fame football game. I wont say the college team, but I can't stand them now.. nothing but drunks up all night, cursing so loudly we could hear it thru the walls.. calls put into security, who seemed helpless. And they were everywhere since it was the football team, parents, alumni, fans, etc. It was the MOST vulgar people I have ever seen in my life, and their behavior was atrocious.

I feel that when it comes to teens, that the parents and chaperones need to get those groups under control and remind those kids of who they are representing when they go away from home - be on their best behavior motto.. guess I am old school!

I am glad OP was able to move and is hopefully enjoying her trip!!!

Sorry been in the Ops situation with Pop Warner and it has gotten to the point I save to stay DVC or deluxe to avoid the nonsense. Are all kids that cheer or are Pop bad? NO. But I am no longer interested in spending my hard earned cash, and listening to Disneys pathetic excuses in order to find out.Hope the OP got a good resolution

Perhaps the OP has an air card. Then she doesn't need a room or wireless in order to be posting on the internet.

She said quite clearly that she has a room + flights package, only. I assume that her plan was to check in, then bus over to the parks and buy tickets there.

True, I didn't think of that.

I'm still very confused about the tickets, though.

We stayed in a studio at SSR. We really enjoyed it. If you have kids, be sure to check out the community hall. If you don't have kids go use the SPA! It sounds like you need it.

Good luck.

Hope you're poolside at SSR by now...or at one of the parks using up your fastpasses! I'm eager to know...

I'm confused by all of these cheerleading competitions....how many are there in a year? Someone mentioned March , POP Warner in December and I know my friend's daughter will be there Easter weekend for a competition.

True, I didn't think of that.

She said she had a SWA "air and room" package. That does NOT equate to Disney's definition of package, which includes tickets. The SWA packages do not routinely include tickets. She probably was going to purchase the tickets at the resort, and LIKELY wanted them tied to her room key, so no room=no park tickets.

there are a lot, but this is the time of the year for the big one, the nationals. This is when you will have colleges, allstars, high schools, just about anyone who has qualified, plus you have the dance teams as well. Nationals used to be the only event held at WDW, but in recent years more events have been added. Plus different ages and allstars compete at different times.

1.) The cheer teams pay MORE than the regular guests. I know disney's rates...I paid way more than I should have to be in the cheer packages. This is a large money maker for both Disney & UCA. On average, one room (of 4 people) pay approx. $650 EACH ($2500 total for one room!). This is for a 4 day stay (Fri-Mon) and this includes no food. (2 "vouchers" for food courts.)

2.) It is annoying... I get that... but these teams worked hard for the opportunity and paid alot to be there as well. Should they be practicing loudly at 10pm? No...they should abide by the rules/curfew. But they SHOULD be able to do some light practicing on open fields as they do. Why not? Random little kids run rampant on the fields all the time anyway...who is to say they can't as well.

In response to this quote, but not directed at disneyfan2kid--just my thoughts on the subject:

I don't think it matters how much the cheerleaders (or other groups) pay to be there or how how hard they've worked to get there. They should not be allowed to overrun a resort where families are vacationing. Sports groups should not be allowed to book at these resorts. There should be a separate place for them with special facilities for them to use. Just because a resort has grass, doesn't mean that it's a practice field. Besides, calling the grassy areas a "field" is really stretching the term. Why not build a Wide World of Sports Resort?

There's a difference between kids & teens vacationing with their immediate families and a bunch of teens on a chaperoned field trip with their team. It's going to be louder and rowdier than if they were just having family fun. Even if these kids have parents with them, it's just not the same.

Families pay a lot of money to go to WDW, some of them only making one trip in their lifetime. They shouldn't have to vacation in what must feel like cheer camp. Big crowds of teens can ruin the atmosphere for families with children--and I'm sure it can be a bit intimidating to small children. I can understand why they wouldn't want to be mixed in with the crowds. If I was vacationing with small children, I wouldn't want to worry about the noise or behavior of these large crowds around my kids.

If she has a blackberry she can plug it into her computer for internet...there are many ways she can be on the computer without using their WIFI.

I just have one word to say about the whole thing about sports kids and obnoxious kids at hotels, RESPECT.

I agree with PP...Disney has a whole complex for sports...where is the living quarters? They have am empty building rotting at POP and rooms are 'sold out' because of competitions that are there. They charge an arm and a leg for these kids to come without parents. And what happens when you are thousands of miles away with no parents? You go bananas! They shoud have a place to do that...somewhere where family vacationers arent. You know? :woohoo:

In Feb. 2004 I took a group of 8th graders to WDW to perform in Disney's Magic Music Days. These kids were 13 and 14 years old. We stayed at All Star Music. There were approx. 32 kids and at least one adult chaperone per every 2 kids. We were well covered....

However, being a WDW veteran, I specifically told my students that there were certain "rules of the house" at WDW resorts. I explained prior to getting there that they would have a curfew and the 6 teacher chaperones took shifts to supervise the rooms while the kids were asleep. We did not want them running around, wreaking havoc and being disruptive to the resort. I told them that they were representing our school and we wanted to show our school in a positive light.

We did use some of the courtyard area to rehearse for our performance. I remember other kids watching and asking what year in high school my students were. They were in 8th grade, so all of my students got quite a kick out of others thinking they were older.

I think that it is the responsibility of coaches, teachers, parents and trip coordinators to set standards for behavior. Unfortunately, it seems that is not done enough. It's a shame that other people's fun is taken away from by disrespect, rowdiness and inconsideration that is easily avoidable.

Just my thoughts....

Hope the OP has a magical trip!

Wondering if you got to SSR. Another horrible cheerleading experience. This HAS to change. This is so unfair to the families, couples and individuals who spend their money for a trip to WDW.

Let us know the outcome!

OP, I'm still confused. We're you at the resort without a room? IF so, how did you know it was unclean? Why did you have no park passes?

I totally agree. I used to take my dance students down for a dance competition. Every 2 girls needed one parent chaperone. Again we used a courtyard to practice but I made them keep the music low and move out of the way if anyone needed to pass. It is not the competitions that are a bad thing but the supervision of the kids competing.

She never said her room wasn't clean, just that the hotel wasn't clean. I'm guessing she means the "common" areas. Also, she didn't have park tickets yet because it wasn't part of her package. I think someone said earlier that she probably wanted to buy tickets there and tie them to her room key, which she didn't have!
