Help! I am looking for knockoff purse?

OMG:sad2:
my DD wanted a purse...I can not pay 150.00 for the one she wants.. Just thought I would ask for help finding a nice look a like...
who knew my question would cause so much Moral conflict....:snooty:
Who knew buying a purse would cause a child to be beaten...cause the poor to get poorer..I never knew that is what started all the problems of the world ..
Ya, and I am sure my teen will look like a real fool with her Fake coach
bag...she may even be kicked out of school. Then where will she be? On the streets selling knock off purses..then she will get arrested..oh my..go to jail...then will have to do work release making real coach purses that sell for 500.00..oh ya but a 500.00 purse is justified...:headache:

I'm not sure if someone has mentioned this already, but there is a store that sells knock-offs in Dover NH. That is all they sell and they appear to be a legitimate business. I'm not sure of the name, but its right in downtown Dover (the name of has the word "Faux" in it).

Hope this helps!!

I don't understand why you would want to spend that much money on a knockoff purse. A lot of the fake purses are easily $30 or $40 at these parties and they *gasp* look like cheap knock offs. My sister bought a fake Coach bag not too long ago and it looks awful. I saved for a couple years and treated myself to the real thing and you can definately tell the difference. I know that not everyone can drop hundreds of dollars on a bag, but I would just buy a nice department store bag for a reasonable price instead of spending money on a cheap looking knock off.

Not to mention its illegal and promotes terrorism and child labor.

Why buy a fake Vera when the real ones aren't that expensive?

Anyone who buys real branded items can tell when they see a fake one

I bought a fake VB for $15, it was a reg size bag. My mom bought me the real one about a month later and I had to return it 3 times because of the quality and it cost her $60.

For some people spending that much on a bag is alot of money and if someone wants to look down on me bc I like patterned bags then so be it, they are probably the type of person that I wouldnt want to be around anyway.

Oh yeah and not everyone can tell the difference. When I lived in the city I routinely bought the knockoffs an many many people did not know the difference (and yes they spent the money on the real ones) I remember a few yrs ago on an Oprah show she commented to an audience member on how much she like their LV bag and the girl smiled and "Thank you, its a knock off"

yeh but why buy her a fake one when you can get a real one for 60.00 at a outlet store?plus she is a teenager she will LOVE having a real one.

Many years ago I purchased a real Fendi, I loved that pocketbook, it was in black. I loved the style of the bag and wanted it in tan. I was at a Flea Market and they had a fake for $25. I really just liked the style of the bag.

My real Fendi ended up ripping in one spot, my fake lasted forever, I think I still have it. Nobody ever came up to me and said it was a fake, I would tell people it was!

Knockoffs that use the labels and logo of actual designer bags are illegal. Knockoffs that are only "inspired by" more expensive bags, and use the same general style but not the designer's name or logo, are legal.

The vendors are smart enough to know to keep the real knockoffs out of sight. They display the "inspired" bags in plain view and keep the knockoffs in garbage bags out of the sight of cops. At least that's what they do in NYC. You have to specifically ask for them.

People will do what they want. I'm not the morality police. Just as long as they realize that what they are doing is not kosher, and where the money is going and to whom it's going, then that's their call.

I live in the NY Metro area and they just had a story about this on the news last week. They raided a warehouse and confiscated all kinds of counterfeit goodies made in China and elsewhere.

You could just tell your daughter you can't afford a $150 purse.

She could save up her money and purchase it herself (much more satisfaction and a good lesson in the value of money) or you could put birthday and Christmas together and buy it for her.

Obviously having the "real" thing is important to her or she would know she's already sporting a fake.

Edit to Add: Kudos to you for not racking up debt. That's probably the REAL lesson here.

Check around for sales or outlets.

I'm a big fan of Stone Mountain. Love the quality and their designs. I got my handbag on QVC for 66.00 and just yesterday found a small purse on sale for 19.99.

If it doesn't bother you, then get one. I think all people were doing were offering other ideas and information.

There is a site called funkyandhot and you can get the highest quality knock-offs there in different grades.

You cannot be arrested for buying a knock off, knowingly or unknowingly. Patent infringement is enforced by the US patent and trademark office, and suspect items can be seized by US customs officers.

You do realize that you can be arrested for knowingly buying a "knock off" in some places?

I am not sure that anyone has actually been arrested or if it really gets enforced, but...it has scared me off LOL!

(Plus I actually love my Longchamp purse and I don't think it's a big knockoff brand here)

If you are looking for VB at a lower cost, look for Lily Waters by Mundi.

You can find in several stores (DSW, Marshalls, etc...). Quality is great and prices are lower than VB. I think they have some listed on ebags too.

...and that's what's so awesome about the Disboards. You're ignorant about something, you ask a question, and you're enlightened.

Whether you want to be or not.

Our local Stop and Shop grocery store sells inspired by vera bradley bags, I forget the brand name............I have several vera bags, and I have one of these inspired by bags, everyone thinks the look alike is the real thing too.
you really can't tell. and yes i paid way more for the real ones, but i shop the sales and discounts, and have only paid full price maybe one time.
there was a kiosk in the mall last christmas with inspired by LV bags, they were very nice, I got one for my mom, she loves it.

Do the purses have the names of the designer on them..coach, LV, dooney? if not than its most likely just inspired by bags, and that is legal.
i have been to Dover, but I didn't notice this store, it was last summer last time i went thru there.

I'm not sure if the names of the designers are on the bags....I've never actually been in the store. I'm a *real* coach girl myself .

But, the Faux store is directly across the street from a restaurant that we hang out in and the bartender was telling us about it (she bought a Fendi knock-off (or inspired bag?). The store is fairly new, so may not have been opened when you were there. Its right in front of the Mill building and across the street from the camera shop.

Quick chime in...I do not buy the SUPER expensive purses (LV-$2000K range bags) because I think such a purchase is financially ridiculous, for me anyway.

I buy Luce' purses which I love that run in the $100-$300 range and NO ONE knows (or cares) who makes it, how much it costs or etc. I buy them because they last forever, are my style and what I can feel good about spending for a quality product.

I think buying "knock off's" is ok if that's what you can afford and that's what you like..HOWEVER, I wholeheartedly agree that a lot of underground entities go into producing, purchasing and selling of these products and you should not participate.

I have to laugh at the comment that some of the fake ones are so good you can't tell the difference. For those who don't know or have never seen the authentic bags...perhaps..but for those who do know..NEVER. The fakes are easy to spot a mile away.

A friend of a friend told me she has about 16 LV bags (I've seen 4 of them and they are defintely the real thing) and I just had to say.."Dang girl, you got more money than sense.":lmao:

No one who opposes buying fakes is a snob. You wouldn't buy a pirated DVD, would you? What's the difference?

How come nobody thinks about WHERE or HOW such cheap stuff gets made? Come on, if they're selling it for $40, it cost them about $5 to make.

It really does stink to think about the realities of our world, but there are things you can do to stop making such practices profitable.
