we just closed on a 200 point resale and are waiting to get into the disney system
it is a 200 point sept use year contract. 2008 points were previously banked and expire aug 31 2010. (2009 points were also banked so we have another 400 points starting sept 2010)
since we are planning on disney in december we figured we wanted to do something other then disney with these points. we know we can try to rent them but are not interested.
is there a time frame in when an RCI resort needs to be booked? do we have enough points for a 4 day disney cruise for two adults and two infants??
HHI would be great but i know it is impossible to get a room there in the summer this late.
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated??? please help????

I do not believe you can use the 200 points (2008) points since they are in the last 4 months of your UY for non-dvc properties.
Quote from dvc rules:

You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection (excluding Disneyland® Resort Hotels in California), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.

I believe this also applies for RCI and cruises but if I am wrong someone will let us know.

I'm not sure if you can because of your use year, but we've done 2 cruises on points and the 3 night one was right around 200 points for 2 adults, 2 kids. I would call and see if you can book that or if your use year will mess you up. Good luck.

I would really look into renting them if you could. Even at $8 a point you are still looking at around $1600.

Have you even tried for Vero or HHI? It's definitely worth a shot, just be as flexible about your dates and size of room as you can. You might have the best luck toward the end of August, as a lot of schools are already back.
You could also consider going down to WDW and doing a non-theme park trip. Just enjoy the resort, maybe rent wave runners, play mini golf, explore other places in the Orlando area (gasp!), etc.
That is one sweet contract BTW!

thanks for the ideas. i did not know about the four month rule but i do now. ill look into hilton head as soon as im in the system. we might be in luck b/c our dates and room size are very flexible. ANY other suggestions???

Depositing them into RCI is an option and gives you up to two years to use them in the World Passport Collection. MS can guide you thru the process, but they can be banked in the WP up thru the end of your Use Year. The "rule of 4" does not apply for DVC resort or World Passport Collection reservations.

Good luck! :)
