Help! Atlantis Question

Just checked out Placestostay... The low rate must be gone! At least it is not showing for my date 9-21. Unless there is some trick to getting it?

Actually, there is s trick.....I don't know why, but if you do a search on Paradise Island or Nassau, it doesn't come up. But! If on the home page you click on the map (Bahamas & Caribbean) and then Bahamas, it does come up! And I just checked your dates and it is available for the 136.50.

Emerald...I was also able to bring up $136.50 for our 10/31 trip....but it was quoting an "LGOLD" rate. Do you now what this is and are you sure it includes armbands for Atlantis? I will definately cancell the $175...$39 is $39...right!! But I'm afraid...it almost seems too good too be true.

Bacrd - All I can tell you is that I called the hotel itself this morning and they had my reservation in their computer and they had the 136.50 as the rate. As far as I know, anybody staying at Comfort Suites has full use of all Atlantis facilities. I don't see how they could say you can't use them.

On second try, I did find that rate! I notice that it says something like....

"LGOLD - Who qualifies: Anyone requesting the LGOLD rate..

I think I will go read it again and make sure to read that whole little paragraph.

This thread is very intriguing!! Can any of you explain to me what there is at Atlantis that is making all of you want to pay $200 for a hotel room that you won't even sleep in!?!?!? LOL How many hours is the ship docked at Nassau anyway? Just a few hours, right??

Thanks, I'm brand new to planning a Disney cruise!! :)

P.S. If you book a room there, does it include admission to the Atlantis Aquarium too? thanks!

The Wonder ports in Nassau from 9 am till 11pm....so you get a good full day! The thing is..the ship's excursions run about $35 a person..but prety much all you get to do is walk around and go thru what they call "The Digs"...(aquarium/museum replica of the Lost City of Atlantis). They are supposed to have the most phenominal water park...where the lazy river & the water slides cut right thru the shark tanks and awesome stuff like that!! If you keep an eye on the Travel Channel..they feature Atlantis quite often.
Basically...for a family of 4...you can spend $140 thru the ship with limited activities or....get a room at Comfort Suites and have full access to everything for $136!! Plus as an added bonus...you have a "nappy" room for the DH and younger kids!!
I cancelled my ressie thru Choice Hotels for $175 and re-booked thru Placestostay.com for $136. I'm ecstatic!!

Another good thing about having the room is it has a fridge and microwave. I'm bringing a soft sided cooler which I'll use to bring our lunch food from the ship. We can go back to the room to eat, shower and change.

OK, I'm a cautious sort, I guess. . .I'm about ready to book through placestostay.com, but I just have to clarify the LGOLD rate. Is it really for anyone to use? Includes pools, slides, etc.?
I don't have to give away DD to get this deal??! Sure looks like the way to go, doesn't it? :Pinkbounc

Hello again everyone,

HERE is the DEAL!!! I just got of the the phone with Choice Hotels directly.
1-800-4-choice or 1-877-424-6423

I called the 877 number and got thru very quickly....

That LGOLD rate is actually a special rate offered BY Choice Hotels... NOT just placestostay.com. It does include Atlantis and everything. This is GREAT news. I did NOT want to book with some internet company, who it is nearly impossible to get ahold of, and to deal with. Especially on the phone. What if you had to cancel or change your reservation.... There are often prohibitive fees and cancellation policies.... I tried calling placestostay.com and waited forever on queue before finally hanging up.

This way you are booking DIRECTLY through Choice Hotels, can call their 800 numbers, or the hotel directly with any changes or questions, get that great rate offered by Choice Hotels, with no middleman. Full access to Atlantis etc!

I had already booked thru Choice Hotels at the $175.50 internet rate. And the friendly rep. who I just spoke to on the phone simply changed it to the LGOLD rate, instantly, no questions asked, with a smile in her voice. :Pinkbounc

Wishing.....

You are AWESOME!!

Thanks for sharing and doing all the leg work for all of us!!

Thanks for the info so far... but I have one more question...(I am new to this! LOL)...

So you can book a room at a hotel called "Choice Hotels" or whatever, which is NEAR the Atlantis, and the Atlantis lets those guests have full access to their resort?!?!? Is that correct?? I wonder why the Atlantis would allow this?!? But it sounds like a great deal!! Have there been people from the DIS who have already done this?

I hate to sound so doubtful, sorry! Just trying to make sure I understand all this because it definitely sounds like something I would consider doing for our cruise.

Wishing and Emerald,
thank you so much for the information. Just called choice hotels and was able to book two adjoining rooms at the comfort suites paradise island for the 136.50 rate (using code LGOLD) for our 10/5 cruise. I did verify with the reservation clerk (extremely nice) that this rate included all the amenities at Atlantis. Reservation clerk stated that this was a great rate (I have to agree!!) The nice thing about comfort suites vs. atlantis is that they don't charge too much more (only 3.50 vs. 45) for my teenager. :)
Seaspray: I agree it does sound too good to be true, but it is. Comfort Suites must have some sort of agreement with Atlantis. Comfort suites advertises that their guests may use the amenities at Atlantis

WOW! THIS IS SO AMAZING!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Thank you, Wishing. . . and everyone who offered helpful suggestions to this thread. I'm on my way to the phone now to make a reservation at the Comfort Suites for our 10/5 cruise.

Hey, Jennifer, maybe we'll see you and your family lounging around one of the many Atlantis pools!:smooth:

Yes, THANK YOU Emerald, for finding that great rate and for sharing! This board is AWESOME for things like this!

SeaSpray, Choicehotels.com is the main site for all hotels in the Choice-Clarion-Comfort chain.... The hotel we are talking about is the Comfort Suites Paradise Island. And, yes they do have arrangements with Atlantis! I have seen a couple other examples of this, where Comfort will have an arrangement with a major resort right across the street. You check in at the Comfort, take a short walkway and cross the street to the main entry area of the Atlantis, show them whatever is necessary that you got from the Comfort, and they will give you your wristbands. Every amenity is now yours.... Again, I have heard that they are very strict about the 4 wristbands per room at the Comfort Inn. I have also heard that there may be up to five guests/wristbands for rooms at the Atlantis.

Check out the sites for Atlantis.com
and pull up the Comfort thru a search, or thru Choicehotels.com

Considering what it would cost to get off the ship and take any excursion at Nassau... Like for a family of four... this is a great deal. For approx. $50.00 apiece you get a tour of 'The Dig' the major aquariums that are themed as Atlantis the lost city under the sea ( my DS loves aquariums)... You get the unending pools, slides, etc... An afternoon at the beach... Casino, etc...
(All at your own convenience and desire, not hustled along with an excursion group.) Beats Blue Lagoon in my humble opinion. ( unless that would include a dophin encounter/swim....)

Maybe we should post a new thread announcing this "Cheap rate for Comfort Suites at Atlantis!!!"

I cant wait!!! Just hoping we have nice weather that day.....

Hi, made reservations yesterday using the LGOLD code:) Just to make sure the reservation agent didn't make any mistakes (and to make sure I wasn't dreaming about this great rate  ) This morning I went to Choicehotels.com. There you can view reservations and print a copy for your "cruise files" (sure beats that scribbled on mess that I have now with my confirmation # on it) I am happy to say, everything was perfect with the reservation.

If you are an Atlantis newby like me and you would like to see more of the resort. Mary Kate and Ashley (the Olsen twins) have a movie out called Holiday in the Sun which was filmed at Atlantis in 2001. A neighbor of mine was kind enough to loan me her copy. IMHO this move was not good (OK I thought it was really bad) but the views of Atlantis were awesome!

I didn't realize that the "Atlantis" was the "Atlantis" back in 1991. I thought that it used to be something else and then was refurbished 4 or 5 years ago (remember when Oprah visited after it opened up?) I visited in '96 and it wasn't the Atlantis then. Just wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression.

oops sorry goodstarr the olsen twins movie came out in 2001 not 1991. Must have had a brain cramp! thanks, I'll edit prior post.

Jenschaef1...I'm with you about it sounding too good to be true!! But I've cancelled my ressie thru "placestostay" and rebooked with Choice Hotels directly. Clarified EVERYTHING over the phone with the rep and got $136.50. I feel much better with the hotel directly than an internet site I've never delt with:Pinkbounc
I couldn't be happier!! Thanks to all who helped on this thread! I've literally saved HUNDREDS on this trip due to the incredible knowledge on these boards!!
SMOCHES to all

Thanks to those who clarified this all for me, it really does sound like the best way to do Atlantis. Now I'm wondering how you get from the ship to Comfort Suites, then to Atlantis, and back. Are there taxis from the pier?? Or is this within walking distance?? What are all of you planning on doing for transportation??
