My husbsnd and I will be taking our 2nd trip as DVC members this September. We're travelling to HH September 2nd for 3 nights. We'd appreciate any advice anyone has on things to do and/or see in and around HH. We are typically pretty active on our vacations, so I don't see us spending more than 1/2 a day at the beach. Any information anyone could share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

First, welcome t the Dis. We love HH, and think Sept. would be a great time to go. If you golf, there are tons of courses around. Don't forget tennis. Bike to the beach or other areas of the island. I think the resrt offers a kayaking trip. There is horseback riding available.

I have some links on my DVC HHI Site that might help you. Don't worry, there is plenty to do.

My DH and I were just at HH the first week in June. We stayed in building 30, which is at the far end of the complex from check in. We had a studio room that was just great. The porch is wonderful to sit out on at night and watch the weather, BUT if it is raining, you will get soaked! At that end of the resort, we were close to the pool and the mercantile which is a small store. Be sure and visit the beach at that end of the resort in the evening at low tide. The fiddler crabs were amazing! When you walk on the beach, it looks like the sand is moving there are so many finger size crabs running to get out of your way.

Of course there is the beach house, not just any beach house, but also has a great pool.
Go to Harbour Town and visit the light house and surrounding shops.
Drive into Savannah and take a tour, or two!
There is a outlet store close by also.
Don't eat breakfast at the close by IHOP. Bad news.
We were fortunate that a Dan Folgerberg concert was at the Harbour Place courts while we were there. It was outdoors and wonderful.
Charleston is only a hour and a half away. We didn't make it but it looks very interesting.
If you like German food, try the restraunt on the island that has been there for 30 years.

Have a great time!

We just returned from our second HH trip. We, too, are not ones to spend the days lying on the beach or at the pool. There are so many things to do at HH, that you sometimes have to schedule pool time! We took a beach walk, a trip to a national wildlife refuge and a marsh walk (all free) with the DVC naturalist, Bryan. We took a 3 hour tour of HH that was very informative, relaxing and interesting. Connie was our guide, with Al as the bus driver. Both were great. We spent a few hours one afternoon riding on the intercoastal watching dolphins. There were evening "Mick's Ear" and wine and cheese tastings. And last but certainly not least, we had A Private Affair with Chef Gordon. We are in our mid 50's and love HH----our favorite DVC resort by far.

Definitely get bikes and ride the beach. The sand there is so well packed that it's almost like riding on asphalt. Riding up and down the water's edge at sunset is great. (It's also great for just plain walking)

From DVC you can get to the beach without really going on any roads. Ride the bike/walk path. It begins right behind the restaurant on the left side of the road just across the bridge to Disney.

From the beach you can ride south and then come inland again.

There are then tons of bike paths on HHI that you can follow. Ride out to the harbor, go up in the lighthouse, do some shopping or have a meal.
