Heat Stroke Potential

Definitely go to Guest Relations and talk to them about your issue with the sun. They will give you a GAC stamped that you neeed to be able to wait in shaded areas or inside. It helps for attractions where the line is outside.

It is hot in September. I've been to Disney in July and September and they felt just about equally hot to me. I've never had heat stroke...but there are plenty of places to cool down. All shops (and bathrooms...I think) are air conditioned. I think the only place you can get into real trouble is probably waiting in outside cues that are long...maybe you can get a disability pass for those?

Drink Smart Water instead of regular water, it has electrolytes.

Animal Kingdom is going to be very hard to do and stay cool in Sept. It is just so hot there.

When I need time to rest etc and I'm at MK I hop on the rail road with a bottle of water and maybe take the loop 2 or 3 times, I know its not Air conditioned but you get a good breeze and its quite relaxing or I go on the TTC and just enjoy the relaxation. Carousel of Progress is another good ride for this.

At DHS I dont know if this is still around but Sounds Dangerous is an awesome ride for relaxing in a dark cool room it really helps!!!! Muppet Vision 3D is another good ride to cool off at.

In Epcot I usually hop in Universe of Energy or The Circle of Life Video at the Land and just enjoy a nice cool show that takes a bit of time til I feel relaxed and cooled off to go out into the park again.

At AK I do the go for the morning and switch parks etc as AK isn't open late and its soo hot there. I do escape to Pizzafari if I need AC but its hard with the park having a lack of AC. Dinosaur is usually quite cool as well. EMH at AK is usually what we do.

If you are on the DDP and do a CS breakfast I usually get water as my spare drink and take it to the parks with me!

I hope you have a great trip Im also going in September !

Husband is diabetic and found that heat makes his sugar crash and he gets heat stroke as well. Have also discovered from several WDW trips that the in and out of the air conditioning (ie. walking in stores rather than on street in MK) makes it actually worse. It becomes to much fluctuating heat/cold. When it is the 3H's in FL (Hazy, Hot, & Humid), shade does not do to much for it either. We've ran into the same issue on the Wonder cruise because the staterooms are so cold in comparison to outside one the verandahs and decks. This has put a damper on several of our trips. We have been to WDW five times and I only wish we had known about the GAC. I just found out about it from a friend whose husband is a diabetic. We are going in April maybe the GAC will be of assistance to us for him being out of sun/heat for longer periods of times. For anyone else who has this issue, the know that it is no fun to be on vacation feel crabby, loopy, and like a wet dish towel.

Thank you to the previous posters for the helpful information. I am going to look forward to a vacation that I may not have to worry about scraping him off of the pavement or worse.

Donna :)

Have you checked out frogg toggs? They are cooling clothes like neckclothes or towels that stay cool all day. They may be helpful for your.

I can't imagine having heat stroke that many times and then going to Disney in September. We go in Sept often and it's blazin surface of the sun hot most of the time.

Maybe I missed it, but why would you go to WDW in September if you are prone to heat stroke?

Are there place I can go to cool down quickly? Do I need a Med Alert Wristband? I'll have the wife and kids with me, Can Disney do anything to help me out?

In all honesty september can be as bad as teh summer months down there.

I went with friends in early september 08 and got extremely over heated to the point of feeling faint. Desperate to find someplace to cool down I went to first aid center..near the crystal palace in MK. I actually had not been drinking enough fluids even though I thought I had. After sitting in there an hour, drinking some powerade courtesy of the wonderful ladies who work there and downing a migraine pill which had developed in the midst of everything, I was feeling better. Made my lunch ressie with friends. They were going to call and have one of my party come and get me but told them I could make it, was doing better.

If you start feeling bad that is the best the place to go. They have beds for you to lie down too. Just drink a lot ! I would consider and umbrella or something to act as a sunshade because it does get very hot and humid still.

Hopefully you will have an uneventful trip.
