Heard rumor that Disney is going to completely re-theme DHS starting in 2016, any truth?

Someone said Iger let it slip in a speach he gave recently. Doubt he would let something like that just slip. Well they bought Star Wars and they bought Marvel. It'd make since that they'd need those investments to start paying off.

I don't think that's what Iger said. You're probably referring to his comments at yesterday's Annual Shareholder meeting in which it did announce that DHS will get a new name, but didn't say what that would be.

That's what I'm referring to. My daughter read some article which said that he said the entire park was going to be re-branded and re-themed and then stopped, because he realized that it hadn't announced yet. Highly unlikely in my opinion.

Like Jeff said, it was confirmed that the name would be changed. Nothing else though. With that being said, I'm sure we will see a total overhaul of DHS much similar to what happened with Disney California Adventure.

Here are the rumors:
  • Renamed Disney Hollywood Adventure
  • Left side of park is Star Wars themed
  • Right side of park is Pixar with a scaled-down version of Carsland
  • The idea of a "working studio" is completely out the window
  • Sorry to say, there will be off-the-shelf rides like spinners
  • The first phase may be disappointing to nostalgic Disney fans due to the addition of mostly A-B-C ticket rides, but there is a larger plan for this park that will take time

With a new name, I wouldn't be surprised if they did a total retheming of DHS. DHS hasn't really been about movie making really for a long time. This is probably a long time coming. For the last few years, DHS has been more about whatever doesn't fit anywhere else really....it is kind of about a movie so we should put it here. DHS really does need more cohesion. I would be happy to see a retheming.

The backlot will be the Pixar expansion not right side. The ToT, RnRc, and fantasmic side will stay much the same. Otherwise they rest is accurate.

They would be fools to get rid of ToT and RnRC. I don't think that will happen.

They really can just isolate the Hollywood theme to just the Tower Of Terror area (except the Chinese Theater though..being way over there in the center).
I dunno. I feel like Hollywood Studios is kind of a perfect dumping ground for attractions that don't really fit in the other parks, while still maintaining a similar theme throughout.

I wonder if they will have to close the park entirely due to the expanse of work and interruption to guests.

DHS will be redone and renamed - no timeline yet. Also, Carsland like in California is NOT coming... it will be a Toy Story / Pixar style land. Radiator Springs Racers won't be coming to Florida, but a good possibly a cars-themed ride will.

Interesting, as they just said on the latest blog show it will be cars coming, or at least they had a source that says it will. Can't wait for Disney to finally decide to announce whatever they will do at DHS

Carsland (like in cali) at one time was on the drawing board... but changes have been made to the plans. There will be a cars attraction however (these things can change rapidly though so we'll all just have to wait and see)

Isn't a Frozen Land more likely than another Cars Land as (a) Frozen is a much bigger draw than Cars now and (b) Cars Land is currently a reason for people to visit California side.

I'd rather see them all at one point or another. If that revamps DHS in that way, new lands, etc. than so be it. Try and design one of each (Yes, I know $$$, time, and space are factors but if they are REALLY looking to overhaul that is one way to try it) (IMHO)

They didn't close DCA well it was under construction. For a few years it was pretty much Disney's Constriction Adventure park for awhile. They even built a new entrance in front of the existing one with out closing the park.
