HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

Really? Disney has possibly the worst customer service out of any company I deal with.

Surely you can't be serious. Have you ever had to call Comcast with a problem with the new X-1 platform? :rotfl::rotfl: We were one of the "lucky" customers to first get it.

Sigh, perhaps that's why the MDE glitches are no big deal to me.

Lol Never had Comcast.
When things go well at Disney it's all good but when things go wrong, I think their response, in general, stinks.

OMG - no kidding.

We had it installed on May 14, and only just now got it to work properly (most of the time).

We had 3 service calls, and I shudder to think how much time I spent on the phone with representatives. It's insane.

To contrast: I have never had a problem with Disney's customer service.

I just sent a letter to Disney regarding this. I am very not happy to find that they'ev changed MK's evening EMH to Saturday...we are going down for the Wine & Dine 1/2 Marathon - on a Saturday night. Aside from the run, evening EMH at MK on Sunday night was the other thing we were looking forward to the most. It's our first adults only trip since our daughter was born, and we absolutely LOVE MK late at night. So many good memories...we were really looking forward to adding more.

I think it's really crappy that they made it so that runDisney participants don't have the opportunity to experience evening EMH at MK.

I understand and agree with you-3 hour EMH was even far better than the 2. I am just wondering for accuracy (and is there a way to see the old calendar)-did they add an hour every night at MK for example. Its now midnight every night that week-was it 11PM before every night and one night 1AM?

As far as I can tell, the hours for the runDisney weekend in November are the same. But now, instead of MK's evening EMH being on Sunday - when runDisney participants could enjoy it as well, it's on Saturday instead.

Seeing as how we - and I'm sure many other runDisney participants that weekend - have already purchased tickets to the spectator event at Epcot from 10pm-4am, going to MK isn't really a possibility. For anyone going to WDW for the runDisney event/long-weekend only, evening EMH at MK isn't possible now - and it was when we booked our trips.

Wine & Dine sold out in less than 48 hrs back in March..so it's not like waiting on purchasing a W&D registration was an option either.

I don't know what that platform is, but Comcast has been fabulous for and to us. Never had a CS problem at all. Lovely experience. (I hear that's because in the Pac NW when you call for help you're talking to proper Comcast employees, but when you call from other states you get contractors)

:( Dang. I think that might have actually been part of our plans. (I'm a little disconnected right now and haven't looked at my WD notes for a bit)

I think this is just a way for them to allow that 4th fastpass. "Look honey, there's a fastpass available for pirates at 1130 pm!" Otherwise, that would have been EMH and no fastpasses...and more complaints about how people weren't ever able to boom another fastpass. I'm frustrated because in the heat, we spend a few hours out of the parks and the return for evening and night. This just made it that much more crowded for us to do this.

Also frustrating is that MK is open until 12 am every night for the week we are there, except the night it has EMH. It's open until 11 that night, so I essence, we only get 1 hour of EMH. I already miss the 3 hours of lower crowds EMH, and now it's basically a 1 hour benefit.

I would buy that if this were just a summer change, or if they extended regular park hours across the board. The park hours.for our November trip haven't changed at all, though. Only the EMH.

...Disney should never decrease the park hours or the EMH days once they are posted, they should only increase them...

That would be the fair way to do it. Perhaps adding some regular park hours is helpful overall, but EMH times are still important particularly since advanced planning really is quite necessary these days if you want to actually get some of your desired activities.

So, just to make sure I understand... folks with resort/hotel reservations on-site during affected days DID NOT GET ANY notification of the changes whatsoever? It should be relatively easy for Disney to send an email, letter, or automated call to notify folks (I realize not super easy or cheap but needed to be done).
If that is truly the case, it really is fairly outrageous.

I have been toying with the idea of getting another round of 10 day No-Expire Hoppers with Water Parks for the family. I put that thought on hold to see how the FP+ situation was going to shake out. I had high hopes that Disney was positively responding to feedback, but now this.

They are going to have to get their act together before I commit that much time, energy, and money to them again.

Best of recollection, there has never been personalized notification in any form when any park hours have been changed.

No, they do not notify you when you are staying at their resorts. Everything at WDW is subject to change and availability. I'm sorry, but what would be next? I want a text message every time a ride goes down?

As connected as people are, if they want information they can find it. I don't expect or need Disney to call or text me every time something changes at one of their parks or the resorts. I'd get sick of answering my phone.

That is correct; Nary a word from Disney for those who had on sight hotel reservations during the affected months. I am quite peeved. The flip-flopped our days for EMH for MK in November and thankfully I was able to switch some dining reservations to make the change but it was not the way I wanted it.

Disney should have, in the least, sent out a notice to everyone who had reservations. Had it not been for this posting, I would have arrived at Disney thinking the old times were correct and having a very messed up first couple of days. Can you imagine those vacationers who are not on Disboards and have no idea of the change? In the 7 years of my coming to Disney for a week+ vacation, I have NEVER seen them mess with days after they are posted. They may have added an hour but never flipped EMH days. You have to wonder the impetus for it.

Now my fear is that they will do it again before our Nov. trip. What's to stop them since we now know they do it regardless of people's planning.

If they're not going to notify people paying to stay in a monorail resort that the monorail will be down most of their stay, they certainly aren't going to notify people over EMH changes.

I'm afraid it's every man for himself.

Grrr… changing MK evening EMH to Saturday is messing me up, big-time. Late night hours in MK are our favorite! Big problem is that Saturday is our arrival day. The plan is to be at the airport at 4:45 am for our 6am flight. After arriving at BWV around 1pm, I figured we'd spend a lazy afternoon at Epcot, maybe take a late afternoon nap, and graze around Food and Wine for supper, maybe stay for Illuminations or not, but get in a good night's sleep so we are somewhat rested for the rest of the trip. NOW I have to decide whether to give up MK EMH or get the extra rest we will probably need. My guess is that nobody will have fun if we stay at MK late… and there's that WCC reservation planned for the evening that MK EMH were originally scheduled. Sigh… big question being, will they change the park hours schedule AGAIN before October?

Thank you for the heads up. I need to change my Sept. plans around.

I'm lucky that I only had one ADR made. I haven't been able to get anymore for the restaurants I want because of free dining. I may just give up on trying to get table service this upcoming trip.

That way if Disney changes hours again, I won't be as annoyed.

Obviously not every ride. But thanks for the rebuttal attempt.

Actually for planned ride refurbishment, I think they do a fairly good job of posting the schedule. "Urgent" ride closures obviously are not in the same category.

However, I consider this EMH change significant "enough" to warrant an attempt at disclosure. What is the definition of "enough"? Varies, of course. Certainly wouldn't be perfect, but I think many guests would appreciate notice about major park time changes, particularly after they have already been posted. While some patrons may prefer the "surprise" of finding out when they arrive, I think more will appreciate the courtesy of notification.

EMH and monorail access for the "monorail resorts" are advertised benefits for on-site stays. If Disney can advertise these apparent benefits in order to get people to choose them, I firmly believe they need to figure out a way to get the word out to "most" of the reserved guests. Not rocket science.

It wasn't an attempt at a rebuttal. I don't need Disney to spoon feed everything to me. I have a computer, I have a phone. It is easy enough to double check things such as park hours to see if anything has changed. As I stated, if they notified me about every single change I would soon get sick of it, and probably shut my phone off.

They have changed park hours prior to the dates for years. Sometimes with only a couple days notice. So even those dates and times people are all upset about now may still change even more. At least now in the age of smart phones and I-Pads it is beyond easy to see those changes. Only a few years ago you had to check every morning.

If it is so easy for Disney to notify guests of changes, it is easier still for guests to check for any changes. No mass notification needed.
