Is there an HDMI connection on the TVs on the Wonder? Yes, I am asking for my son! Thanks.

They haven't replaced the old tube TV's with LCD yet, the Magic got them years ago.

The Dream and the Fantasy do have HDMI ports, they are normally used for the TV adapter that provides all the channels. Just disconnect the cable and connect your device, have used it with my iPad/iPhone with no problem.

When I was on the Magic in 2014 those sets had them and any flat screen TV made in the past 10 years or so has has a HDMI port.

Of course, DCL prefers that you not mess with the TV connections. At least they ask you not to bring things onboard that require that. But I know people will do it anyway.

Items prohibited on board ship and on Castaway Cay.
  • DVD, VCR, and Blu-ray players
  • Gaming systems such as Playstation®, Xbox and Nintendo Wii (due to compatibility issues with the stateroom TVs)

Then it's got an HDMI input. Now the question is does the TV allow you to change the input from antenna to the HDMI input? On RCCL Oasis they've locked out the input button on the TV so you can't change the input.

All of this would be a moot point if they had movies by demand on the TVs in the classics' staterooms like they do on the Dream class. So annoying that they didn't add that during the classics' reimaginings.

I wouldn't have thought many people have brought those on the ship but I can imagine people bringing in the new Nintendo switch. It's a small handheld that you can also play on the TV with a hdmi lead so easily taken on a cruise ship.

Yep! My son bought himself a Switch. He can play it whether it plugs into the TV or not, we were just wondering if it would be an option. Thanks, all!

You'd be surprised what people attempt to bring onboard. There's often a stack of prohibited stuff waiting in the terminal for people to return from their cruises and claim them.

I think the biggest issue is people forget to reconnect the TV or don't make all the connections correctly and then the next guests end up with a TV that doesn't work or only partially works. Not fair to them.

There is someone who posted that electronics are cheaper in the US so they buy them, and let them get confiscated before heading home

That'st a good reason not to do anything to a TV anywhere outside of your home.

Personally, I wouldn't spend money on a cruise to allow my child to sit in the room and play video games ~ but maybe that's just me.

My two DSs were mostly out and about with the clubs or friends, but there was a day in the middle where they just wanted to chill with their ipads. It was a break from the hustle and bustle of the cruise. I agree, it's the kid version of sitting on the balcony and watching the waves go by. Also, kids sometimes just need something familiar to combat the onslaught of new stuff coming at them. Many kids handle that okay, but some need that familiar grounding, even if it's only when mom and dad are getting ready for dinner or first thing in the morning.
