that show stunk. There wasnt one thing in it I had not heard of.

No Kelly, tell us how you really feel :lmao:

I was trying to be nice but your right, it did stink. Savannah liked seeing the GF and stuff like that. I wish they would have spoken more about the concierge at different resorts...
They spent way too much time on the couple ... they should have at least panned the camera to show the places... walt suite, grand 1, V&A. All they did was focus on the couple's faces! Nice romantic couple but I wanted to see the scenery not their kissy faces :rotfl:

Did I hear them say that the Travel Channel is going to do new shows for the next couple of Friday nights?

A tipping question (I am not posting this out on the board because I am tired of the arguments tips cause)

Here's the problem, I live in rural Maine. Other than restaurants there is nothing here to need to give a tip for, so I am not well versed in tip etiquette.

Maid service, limo driver, bag handlers, taxi drivers, meals (obviously), valet parking, childcare...I know all those. (I am not a complete moron, just a worry-wart!)

But who else might I end up tipping? Does the fireworks cruise driver get a tip? (about how much?) Can I leave a tip for the person delivering our gift baskets to the room..maybe leave it with the lobby concierge when I ask them to deliver them after we check in? The pool person if we rent a cabana- do they get a tip? Spa attendant?

Can someone help me out here? Who expects tips and who should I tip just because it is fun to make people smile? I hate that I don't know this!

Thanks!
Sheli

I really need a "Tipping for dummies" kind of book.

Yeah, next week is going to be Disney on a dime :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I think it might be a comedy or something :rotfl2:

seriously with Disney always raising its prices you cant stay on site on a dime.
It would have to be pterry big. Back is 2005 we stayed at the POP with base dininig and tickets it was 1350 or around that and that was WITH a code. We still had to pay for air and a rent a car. You couldnt do that now.

Sure you can do Disney on a dime...
Drive there and bring your tent... camp at fort wildreness and sleep in the tent the whole week. Bring your grill and cook all your own food.... buy nothing the entire time your there .... When I was a kid we camped at Fort WIldreness and it was FUN ..at least for us kids. We also lived near by and it was just a fun weekend camping trip.

My mom is a riot when it comes to hearing about Disney trips. We lived in Orlando when I was a young child... and Disney was still new and there was no Epcot. Our family could go for the day between $20-$40 bucks and that included the E tickets and FOOD for the entire day :rotfl2:
She always goes off whenever she hears how much a disney trip cost now :rotfl2:

We don't talk about trip costs around here. My mom would pass out! Instead we use words like "40% discount" and "cheaper than a rental van." No prices are ever mentioned, just the discount % or the word cheap. The ONLY part of this trip that makes sense to my mom is using Jet-Blue. She is more of a Days INN person than Deluxe..I have worked hard to get far away from that.

Now she wants to know why the commerical says a family can go to Disney for under $1600..."Are you spending much more than that Shel?" :rotfl2:
I'll never tell!!!!

:rotfl: Whenever that commercial comes on, BF ALWAYS says "If it's 1600 for 4 people, why do our trips always cost so much? It should be $800 for 2 people." :sad2: :rotfl2:

Sure, honey. EVen if the math did work out like that, since you only like the GF (and will tolerate BWI so we can be close to EPCOT/MGM for a day or two, He HATES AKL becuase he HATES busses, so values would be a GREAT choice :lmao: ). I'm sure we can go for $800 for a week. Let's see, take out the ticket money and that will leave us with a little less than three hundred dollars. I'm SURE we can stay at the GF for about $40 a night :rolleyes1

If we hitchhiked there (all 6 of us!) and took a million loaves of bread and a case of Goober PB&J we might get there for under $50, and maybe in less than a week! Then we could camp at fort wilderness for $50 a night, take the busses, and keep eating that PB&J, drink only free water...with park tix and 1 stuffed toy each we might just be able to go for under $1600...maybe!!! (but then I'd have to buy a tent and camping gear...there goes the budget!!!)

Hi, guys!!!:goodvibes

I am so not sure about Mother's Day....dh doesnt' even know it's in my mind, haha....I am waiting for that perfect DING to spring it on him.:rotfl: I wouldn't stay GF but I can get a Swan room and for a short little getaway that would be fine - cheap and quick because we'd be out in the parks mostly. :thumbsup2 That's my thinking anyway...... just over hopeful I think, and now that I am SERIOUSLY dieting,(I have been so good and I am motivated because I don't like myself at this weight and I am promising myself a july WDW trip for the reward!) I am leaning against going in May anyway, because I would so blow it and totally do damage to myself. I have myself psyched about the YC in sumemr but i need to add some GF RPC nights KELLY!!!!!

OH that show last night really sucked. We laughed our butts off thru a lot of it.....like when they said that VIP thing is like having your own personal concierge....Lucy said, we have our own.;) and Zack said, no we have two....which we do.:thumbsup2 Then the couple in the Walt Suite...I did like seeing that again and the Grand 1...it brought back WONDERFUL memories:cloud9: ...well we've been there done that but it was fun seeing it all again.:goodvibes :goodvibes BUT then it made me mad...here htey are celebrating 10 yrs and DH and I can't get away for our 20th. :rotfl: That caused some grumbling.:rotfl2: The way they talked about the fast passes like it's some super new innovative thing....dumb. It was just stupid and boring and I lost 1/2 my family before it was 8:30. I did notice the lady commetator was sitting on a GF balcony.:thumbsup2 The older WDW shows are so much better. I didn't even like the new Sam Brown one....just so choppy and brief and also boring. Have we become jaded?:rotfl: :rotfl: I am glad we're not the only ones that were disappointed with that stupid show....I had higher hopes. Oh well.....That Disney on a dime should be worth a lot of laughs.:rotfl: Who knew? All this time we're spending mega dollars and we could have done it for .10. Hmm......interesting.

Sheli, ....the tipping thing. Tip everybody. That's the thing. The fireworks captain, the valet, bell svc, housekeeping, hair people, the pool person I would think, too if they wait on you.....we didn't have anybody wait on us in the cabana so no tip needed. The "service fee" on room service is the included tip. You don't need to tip extra....they charge you MUCH MORE for the food than if you went to Gaspies to get it and then the 18% serv fee is actually the tip for the "server". Did I leave anybody out? If they do something FOR you -tip. The concierge are not "supposed" to take a tip, but the newbs have been known to and it's not right for the professional concierge cms...so if you WANT to tip, go for it.

Gosh...sorry this is so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Channing :)

:rotfl: :rotfl: Ya, what is that bogusness??!?! WHO gets a trip to WDW for that???:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 I bet NOBODY. That commercial's music always draws me in though...I love it - and the horse hooves.:rotfl:

Kristin! what's the code that expires today??? What's it good for?? I was looking on the site and GF GV is available, but it's $435 rack.

THANKS!
Channing :goodvibes

please that commercials a joke its for a standard room at a value with no park hoppers, only base tickets and no dining and no air.
I hate that commerical people always call me and want hoppers and other stuff and then I have to explain the "fine print". I wish Disney would do better commericals.

Ok, it's bogus then. I knew it.

I am glad we all thought that show stunk. Why do they tease us like that - make us think we are going to see some coolo show? I was hoping it would make DH and DS wanna go back.:rotfl: :rotfl: they got up and left to go watch something stupid on Sci Fi channel instead.:rotfl: Men.:sad2:

yeah well I wont tell you what chris said when i asked him to watch it with me today.

:rotfl: and pathetically enough I don't care if i watch it again, either. They could make such a cool show, but it seemed like a total Disney commercial and was stupid and not newsy or interesting. Big disappointment.

yeah and last weeks show was like watching Stacey. I wonder if Disney is telling Sam what to talk about.
Those adventures by Disney are cool but they are very $$. They do have some interesting itineraries.

The show definately stunk. I was hoping dh would be excited when I showed him the part about the Grand 1. No such luck! The pontoon would be just fine for him. My girls were both asleep within 15 minutes. Thank goodness..we had to leave for a volleyball tournament at 6:45 a.m. Some people wonder what we do with our time in the country....well around here...we play volleyball. They start in kindergarten and have practices 2-3 times per weeks and tournaments on the weekends. No soccer...not enough kids to play on the team::rotfl: We eat, drink and sleep this stuff (but I love it!)

I do have a ? though. The Sunset Safari thing showed an open vehicle. Is this the same type of thing we can reserve if we are staying concierge or is it something different?
