Have you kept any of your 2017 resolutions?

Thank you!!

I think it's been a mental shift of it not being on another fad diet and committing to a healthy diet and exercise for once. I was always pretty good at making excuses for skipping a workout, so having my apple watch has been pretty helpful with accountability. I like the badges I earn and the daily reminder of "You have worked out for XX days in a row" - very motivating. I also found that counting calories through the My Fitness Pal App has worked for me. I am more mindful of my eating and it totally helped with portion control.

My next goal after this first 20 is another 20 by our Disney trip at the end of August.
Thanks for the motivation! My FitBit is definitely helping. I like the 20 lbs by August goal! Good time frame, healthy and reasonable.

Bilberry, way to go! What worked for you?

I took a new path, sort of, to loose weight. The idea has been mentioned for decades but seems to receive little mention as a weight loss idea. What I did was to use light therapy. The idea with this is that many gain weight in the winter time. Some believe this winter weight gain is due to a lack of sunlight. A lack of sunlight signals to the brain to store away fat for the coming months. So what I did was to use bright light therapy. Basically I have a SAD light I sit in front of during breakfast. I live in Florida too, and began exercising outside, instead of being indoors, and didn't wear sunglasses.

I also did a few other ideas, such as stop eating snacks after lunch. I also stopped eating dairy products and beef. Some write that these two foods can be fattening for some. I can't say which idea helped most.

Very interesting! And the light theory is mood-boosting at the same time. Thanks for sharing this!

Jaspers, do you find things are easier when you get more sleep? I like your goals very much. And are you a self-taught drawer?
If I get the ideal amount of sleep then definitely yes, but if I end up sleeping too much, that can make me feel more tired as well. :D I'm glad you think they're good goals! Also yes I am, that's also probably why I still don't know all the things about shading yet.
