Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I am in MA and got appointments at CVS on a Friday morning around 6:00 am. At 5:40 am the website said adding appointments so I refreshed until it said appointments added. Another person got an appointment around the same time on a Thursday morning. It may not be a CVS real close to you but give it a try. We drove 30 minutes to get our vaccines. CVS has added 34 more locations in MA too.

My town and a cluster of neighboring ones worked their butts off to get approved for a local vaccine clinic. State tried to take the vaccine away from us, but a good push by the mayors and state reps changed their minds. We vaccinate 2400 people a weekend, with 4 shifts of volunteers. My husband was picked to volunteer this weekend so he'll get his first shot. DD and I got ours a week ago when we volunteered, and will get our second shot in a few weeks during our next shift. This kept the vaccine in the neighborhood - so that the elderly and the disabled didn't have to drive an hour away to a supercenter to get vaccinated.

I’m on a neighborhood committee intent on getting any and all neighbors who want to be vaccinated a shot. We’d love to be able to gather again...

Here are our tips:

1) Sign up on the state website. In Florida that is my vaccine.fl.gov. Once on that website sign up for any county you are willing to drive to. This puts you on a waitlist. Then you need to check your phone, text and email for offers of appointments.

2) Sign up on county waitlists. Again, any county you are willing to drive to. This again puts you on a wait list, check all places they can contact you. They may contact you about a signup event. Be sure to be online the second it opens.

3) Check with your doctor/health group. The local Health groups here just started getting vaccines last week, so this is new.

4) If you are a Veteran check with the VA.

5) Try the pharmacy chains, even those within grocery stores. Check when they drop new appointments. Here Walmart, Winn Dixie and CVS drop new appointments around midnight. Publix drops them at 7am Mon, Wed. and Fri.

6) There are multiple first come, first serve mass vaccination places. Check the news for one near you.

7) If you have been treated in a hospital system and are in their records as a patient you may be able to get one from them.
Those are great, specific, suggestions for FL folks. Thank you!

So updates for us and mostly copied from another thread.

State opened up Phase 3/4 today. No appointments in the direct area to be found which is expected. The more vaccine supply isn't anticipated til the 29th and after. Most places are still doing Phase 2.

My husband was able to snag an appointment in the county above me about 30mins from his work for this Thursday and he will have to bring his letter from his employer. That was the only place he could find availability and it was gone quickly.

The health system where I have sought care in the past and I have an active patient portal (which is required otherwise you have to call to look) updated to include the option to book appointments for phase 1-4. Earlier today it was only for phase 2. None of the locations in my county for that health system had any availability til mid to late April (and is now basically end of April as I rechecked). I was able to get an appointment for this Thursday :hyper::hyper: (March 25th) at a location 2 counties below me about an hour drive (one way).

If it wasn't within my health system (which is primarily just for my county with a few locations in surrounding counties) it would not have been an option for this location and I wouldn't have even tried. I called that location to verify all was fine and all my e-mail communications I've gotten from the health system says: "You can schedule your appointment at ANY of the 15 clinics offering vaccine appointments." One of the 15 clinics is in the county I am going to. FWIW almost an hour drive can still be in my metro so it's not exactly much of a hardship for me though farther than I really wanted. Places are trying to keep tighter circles of eligibility so you don't just go from the bigger cities to the rural areas so that's why if it wasn't for it being in my healthcare system I wouldn't have even tried.

Neither my husband nor I know which vaccine we're getting at this point and we could be getting different ones than each other.

We're very excited though!! Sister-in-law also got an appointment due to her employment. I believe hers is early April and it's on our side of the state line.

Just a friendly reminder. The topic of this thread requires a simple YES or NO response.

It does not ask for or suggest that arguments, attacks, other DIS Guideline violation, or cute memes need to be posted. If these continue this thread will be closed.

I got my 1st Pfizer vaccine last week, scheduled through Myturn.ca.gov at Magic Mountain. It was a drive thru set up so it was super easy and didn't have to wait very long.
I didn't feel any flu like symptoms, just a sore arm for a day. My 2nd dose is in a couple of weeks!

DH & I had our first Pfizer shots this morning. So far, I've had a pulsing sound in one ear that lasted about 30 minutes, then went away. I also have a knot/lump that's about the diameter of a quarter, a small red circle & bruising at my injection site, but no soreness. The same person gave DH his shot. You can barely see his injection site. It looks like a freckle, but he has significant soreness. I'll update again tomorrow for anyone who is interested.

I am on CVS website non stop.. I get up early and keep checking.. the locations that has bookings this morning were on the east side of the state.. way to far for me to travel. But I will not give up hope.. I will get my vaccine sooner or later.

Does anyone have information about where to get the vaccine in VA? Any tips? My cousin lives outside of the DC area and has not been able to get one. She is over 50 with some autoimmune diseases. I am hoping to try and help her find an appointment but I am in Ohio and know nothing about how VA is handling things.

DIL, DD and her boyfriend just got appointments for Saturday :yay:
DIL is relieved, she has a heart problem and was in the hospital for a couple of days last week. It was full.....lots of Covid patients. She doesn't want to add anxiety to that again.

All are getting Pfizer. DIL's is at a different location than the other 2.
DS's is Thursday......then all our adult family is on the way to being fully vaccinated.

Try Kroger. My husband got his first Pfizer at a Kroger in VA. The appointment availability changes a lot, so check multiple times a day. He received his dose 48 hrs after we started checking.

My fifty something brother who lives in Manhattan was able to get an appointment for Sunday at the Javitz center For the Pfizer vaccine. He really wants to come see our 90 year old mom soon.

In Ohio - 40+ and my DH and I were received our first shots of Pfizer last Friday. My arm was sore and while he wasn't very sore, he bruised in the area and had a small bump. We will have our 2nd dose 4/9. We were able to get in with the Union Hall as soon as our age group opened up as he works for a very large factory and they set this up to take some strain away from our county's main site, but appointments where I'm at haven't been too hard to get. My DSIS was able to get scheduled for this week with no problem.

Has anyone received their second dose a couple days before the 28 mark for Moderna?

I have an appointment for second dose at the 26 day mark.
