Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Tell them to go to CVS, or Rite Aid, or Walgreens, or ANY OF THE PHARMACIES in the long list of retail pharmacy partners in the Federal Program. Cripes. The appointments are just sitting there, waiting to be filled.

Like I said earlier, the CVS I went to WANTS to give 500 shots a day but they cannot unless demand for appointments increases. They are at 200 shots per day now and at any point can order more vaccine, but they need to show a solid week of 100% delivery of 200 doses a day, WHICH THEY ARE NOT YET ABLE TO DO BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE MAKING APPOINTMENTS.

I'm really not sure how else to get this through to you.

SARS-COV2 doesn't care that your A1C is one point below the threshold set by CA's incompetent Department of Health. This state has been slammed left and right about the vaccine rollout so far. The pharmacies are trying to even the playing field here and in other states. At this time, your wake up time of 2am is absolutely perfect for getting onto the pharmacy sites and making an appointment. If you want to continue banging your head against the wall, that's fine, but at least use your newsroom connections to get the word out to the people to GET THEIR SHOTS AT A PHARMACY.
If people can get appointments there is no problem. My point is people are complaining to us that they can't get appointments with CVS, so be prepared for that too.

not enough supply... I have to keep checking online to see if any spots have opened up. I am in Mass and the state is so far behind.

Good luck and keep trying. The earlier you get it the sooner you will be protected. I indeed have noted that the CVS spots fill up fast in Massachusetts, way faster than in California. It appears that everyone up there wants a vaccine. That's a good thing! More supply will come and soon.

In that situation, vertigo is usually caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure...which can be VERY dangerous. If you have a recurrence of even slight symptoms, you should go to an urgent care or ER. That's not something to play with, even if you have had it before from other causes.
Vertigo can be caused by many triggers. I am 64 and have had it since I was 11, along with migraine headaches. The wind,a migraine, a change in head positioning and fluid in my ears, flashing light's, going from inside to outside bright sunlight are just some of my triggers.
My doctor has taken my pressure during an episode and my pressure was high, it did not drop.
I got the J&J vaccine, it did not trigger an episode.

Walgreens in my area (Western NY) has opened up hundreds of appointments. I can log on right now and have my pick of times, vaccines and days. I am waiting for my other 2 kids to be eligible and I will jump on in a heart beat and get them signed up. My youngest son was very hesitant about the shot but I was able to find him a J&J time for tomorrow. He is willing and he meets the BMI requirement so he will get it tomorrow.

Not vaccinated - TOTALLY understand why I would not be prioritized, but I fall squarely in the "crawl through glass to get it" group. I just want to say I am getting really annoyed at the incentives that are being offered to show you are vaccinated. Little things like Krispy Kreme is handing out free doughnuts ; https://www.cbsnews.com/news/krispy-kreme-free-doughnut-every-day-2021-covid-19-vaccination-card/

It's not like I really need a doughnut, but it's just that not only do I WANT the vaccine, but I will continue to voluntarily give up my spot inline to those who are more at risk. It just doesn't seem right that anyone should need to be incentivized when there are still so many people who would willingly be vaccinated if they weren't doing the right thing and taking a spot further back in line for the better good. You know what I mean?

I just made an appointment at Walgreens for my first and second dose of Moderna. I am beyond excited right now. First one Wednesday, next one 4 weeks later. My only concern is having side effects and getting the shots on a Wednesday but if I do get wiped out for a day or two I'll just have to take the time off work.

ETA: I am currently in Western MD and there are a lot of appointments available at the Walgreens.

After weeks of checking both the Kaiser and County websites, we registered on the state site (myturn.ca.gov). We both got appointments the next day. Our son just became eligible. He also checked the state site yesterday and has an appointment tomorrow. Yes, it's 20 miles away, but is that really that far?

This is me too. I have migraines and also panic disorder/anxiety. I get vertigo on the regular. It also gets caused by allergies for me (the allergies clog up my sinuses and mess up my ear fluid drainage).

I had a quick dizzy spell a couple minutes after getting my shot, but I looked down at my smartwatch which showed my "stress" level had skyrocketed and my heart rate was in the 90s. This is classic anxiety/panic attack territory for me. I went through a deep breathing cycle on my stress app on the watch and was back to normal 2 minutes later. I get that way whenever I have to take a new medicine or undergo a new procedure. It's my irrational health anxiety where my mind tells me that I am going to experience the absolute worst case scenario side effects.

I'm absolutely fine 3 days after my shot.

I am finally eligible and get my first shot this Wednesday. :cool1: Question for those of you who have had the shot . . .

I assume most people are requesting the shot in their non dominant arm so any soreness doesn’t affect your ability to write or do other things. However, I have different dominant hands for different tasks. For example, I write left handed only, use scissors right handed only, but I open jars using either. How sore should I expect to be and do any of you have a recommendation which arm I should get the shot in? I am considering the left arm even though I write left handed.
My first dose was in my dominant (left) arm, but like you I really only use that side for writing. But that night I figured out that I also mostly sleep on my left side, and OUCH. Rough night of sleep for me. So for dose #2 I asked for it in my right arm, purely so I would sleep better afterward. :)

I’m on a neighborhood committee intent on getting any and all neighbors who want to be vaccinated a shot. We’d love to be able to gather again...

Here are our tips:

1) Sign up on the state website. In Florida that is my vaccine.fl.gov. Once on that website sign up for any county you are willing to drive to. This puts you on a waitlist. Then you need to check your phone, text and email for offers of appointments.

2) Sign up on county waitlists. Again, any county you are willing to drive to. This again puts you on a wait list, check all places they can contact you. They may contact you about a signup event. Be sure to be online the second it opens.

3) Check with your doctor/health group. The local Health groups here just started getting vaccines last week, so this is new.

4) If you are a Veteran check with the VA.

5) Try the pharmacy chains, even those within grocery stores. Check when they drop new appointments. Here Walmart, Winn Dixie and CVS drop new appointments around midnight. Publix drops them at 7am Mon, Wed. and Fri.

6) There are multiple first come, first serve mass vaccination places. Check the news for one near you.

7) If you have been treated in a hospital system and are in their records as a patient you may be able to get one from them.

I am going to Walgreens and got my appointment around 10:30pm on a Saturday night for the following Wednesday. I wasn’t really expecting to succeed, but I was online and thought I would check. Good luck!
Thank you :)
