Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

SMH.

There's very little difference if your A1C is 6.5 or 7.5. You're still a diabetic. Putting you at a very high risk of Covid. And being between 60-64 years of age? Wow! You are at extreme risk. And it seems like you go out to work every day. I just hope you're being extra cautious.

I don't know any other state where you wouldn't qualify for a vaccine. My niece (who lives in Ohio) just got an appointment for this week. She's 40 and in excellent health.

Yet, I know you don't want to cut the line. Which is understandable. And commendable. It just stinks that the rules are much more stringent in some places than others.

He qualifies here. His reasons for not getting it are his own, but I need to make it clear for anybody else reading this, that his message is incorrect.

Yes, THAT is my message because it is what is happening here. I work in a TV newsroom and we get lots of calls from people clearly in the top priortiy list who can't get a vaccine. My situation is a side bar.

I saw you said you have somebody looking full time. They need to be fired because they’re doing a terrible job. Your message is incorrect and it’s dangerous now. You don’t have to get it, but you need to stop framing it as that you can’t. That isn’t true.

ETA: you need to stop looking at through only the county sites, which is what you keep going back too. CVS and Kaiser are all allowed to make their own qualifying list and they have. You qualify. You can also get vaccinated through them. So maybe recommend to people calling in they look at these places and not the county.
Practically almost every “Available” location is in Southern CA.
It’s a moment in time. They release cancelled appointments at midnight and new ones at 6am. They really aren’t that hard to get anymore. One may have to drive a city or two over, but they’re out there.

Look, warning people that it may not be as easy as you think to get a shot doesn't hurt anyone.
The information all is coming from the State, County Health departments and private pharmacies, so fire THOSE people if you thing the information is incorrect

Your staff member needs to get it together then. There’s people in this thread from CA who literally “just signed up.” Clearly you have access to a computer, help your neighbor and anyone else you can. Let’s get needles in arms in any way we can. If for whatever reason you don’t want to seek out one for yourself or “jump the line” cool but quit telling people there’s no hope of getting one because that is not true.
She is only gathering information from the State and County health departments and pharmacies. No question, vaccine distribution is uneven.

That’s a hard disagree.
It is hard to get appointments in SF Bay Area.

I updated my last post while you replied, so I’ll say it here too. Kaiser & CVS are allowed, and have, made their own qualifying guidelines, where you do qualify. And you’re allowed to go. You don’t have to go through the county or state run sites.

And people here are telling you that getting CVS and Kaiser appts aren’t that hard to get anymore. Plenty of us have done it. But you also haven’t said it may be hard. You’ve basically repeated it’s impossible now with statements like no vaccines for all Northern CA Kaisers, which is categorically false, making at least two people believe you.

But I’m done going back and forth with you. Get it, don’t get it. It’s up to you. But PLEASE pass on the information you’ve leaned here to people who are looking. And to anybody else reading along, Kaiser has expanded eligibility outside of the state list and will vaccinate non-members. That list is posted earlier in the thread, or DM me and I’ll send it on. CVS is also a great place to book appointments. They open new ones at 6am.

Let’s get shots in arms!

I just want to jump in here and back @tvguy up. I'm pretty sure we are in the same county in CA. It's is very frustrating trying to figure out how to schedule a vaccine here. We have Kaiser as well, @DisneyJamieCA gave me some good advice and my husband and I both filled out the e-visits for covid vaccine on their main page-even with their updated eligibility, it says we still don't qualify. I will try to follow up and call them directly, see if I can get anywhere. I just checked CVS and the only pharmacy with available appointments is in Lincoln, about 25 miles away.

Ive also gone through it for family and relatives. So, thanks.
Great. Doesn’t make you more correct than me.

And you may have to drive a little. DH and I both have to go the counties over from us (Kaiser) and I had to take DD to the CVS about 20 miles away because they were the ones doing Pfizer. My dad had to go the next city north of us for his (CVS). I don’t know your personal situation, but it may be worth grabbing the Lincoln one if you don’t have luck with Kaiser.

ETA: and as I said earlier, it may be true that Sacramento doesn’t have the doses. My two bones of contention were that it is not true for the entire Northern California region for Kaiser, which was what was said and that there ARE in fact places outside of county vaccine sites one can go. The allotments come from different places. My own county is still only doing 65+ which is why so many are going to outside places. So there is no argument that county sites seem broken. It’s just not the only place to go.

Sorry-just want to say a big thank you to @mom2rtk for starting this thread, there have been many people posting on here to give tips and information on how to schedule an appointment and get vaccinated all over the united states. It's great to see so many people get the shots, makes me hopeful for the future. I pray I can be one of those people very soon.

Tell them to go to CVS, or Rite Aid, or Walgreens, or ANY OF THE PHARMACIES in the long list of retail pharmacy partners in the Federal Program. Cripes. The appointments are just sitting there, waiting to be filled.

Like I said earlier, the CVS I went to WANTS to give 500 shots a day but they cannot unless demand for appointments increases. They are at 200 shots per day now and at any point can order more vaccine, but they need to show a solid week of 100% delivery of 200 doses a day, WHICH THEY ARE NOT YET ABLE TO DO BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE MAKING APPOINTMENTS.

I'm really not sure how else to get this through to you.

SARS-COV2 doesn't care that your A1C is one point below the threshold set by CA's incompetent Department of Health. This state has been slammed left and right about the vaccine rollout so far. The pharmacies are trying to even the playing field here and in other states. At this time, your wake up time of 2am is absolutely perfect for getting onto the pharmacy sites and making an appointment. If you want to continue banging your head against the wall, that's fine, but at least use your newsroom connections to get the word out to the people to GET THEIR SHOTS AT A PHARMACY.

Got a text message from Meijer on Friday morning about registering for a Pfizer shot. Couldn't believe that I was able to get an appointment for Monday afternoon (today).

Other than myself, daughter and BIL, everyone else in my immediate family has been fully vaccinated.

Practically almost every “Available” location is in Southern CA.

Run that query at 12:15 am and watch how almost every single location will say "available."

I'm telling you, I literally set an alarm for 12:15am to make my son's appointment. When I loaded the search, my biggest decision was do I want to go at 10:15, 10:30, 10:45, 11:00, 11:15.....all the way up to 6:15pm, every single slot was open, at EVERY single CVS in my county. I had spent the prior 3 days checking during the day and never seeing anything available. The midnight dump of appointments is when people need to be ready to book. My friend got her mom an appointment the same night I told her to go on after midnight, and her mom had practically given up because she always searched during the day to see nothing available.

Just for anyone else who is WILLING to go get their shots at a pharmacy, here is the list of participating pharmacies in the federal retail program. You can break it out by state to see which particular pharmacies are participating in your state.

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/retail-pharmacy-program/participating-pharmacies.html

Here is the page of FAQ's

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/retail-pharmacy-program/faqs.html
Here is the part where they mention how the pharmacies WILL NOT CHECK CREDENTIALS:

Pharmacy partners will screen individuals to determine their vaccination eligibility for this program according to the criteria selected by their state or territory. Individuals may be asked about their age, occupation, or underlying medical conditions. Screening will also include checking for contraindications to COVID_19 vaccines—reasons why an individual should not receive the vaccine. (My note....this happens during the registration process, not in person)

Pharmacies will not require proof of age, occupation, or any other type of credentials; however, they will rely on self-attestation for validating group membership. This assures that no one will be turned away for lack of specific identification documents (e.g., driver’s license) and eases the burden on participating pharmacies and individuals.

Some folks are just in no hurry to get a vaccine. If they have to be awake at midnight, or log in at a certain time, or drive 30 minutes they are just not going to do it, yet.

As our governor pointed out, there are those that don’t want it at all, those who would crawl through glass to get it, and lots in between. Here in Florida he seems to be aiming to get all the crawl through glass people first. Once places cannot get enough people to sign up for appointments he lowers the age.

When all the highly motivated people are vaccinated, there will come a point where you can wander into your most convenient provider at your preferred time without an appointment and without a wait and get a vaccine. Here in Florida that will be after all those willing to make an effort get one, maybe late summer.
