Have you ever won a sweepstakes?

We have been very lucky and blessed with sweeping. I won a trip to WDW in 2005 that we took in Dec 2006 from McDonalds where they put us at the Poly, and just recently won a $10,000 DCL cruise that we are taking in Dec 2008 from Del Monte! I have also won many many other things, a plasma tv, $2500 best buy gc, a $2500 donation to our local school, a Weber grill, a trip to San Francisco and just tons of other stuff. Sweeping enables my family to have luxuries we would not have otherwise....:lovestruc

I have won 2 trips to Disney. The last one we took this past May. I have also won two trips to Universal Studios, so we extended our stay and bought Disney tickets at our own expense and did WDW too. I have also won $10,000a long time ago, and an X-Box 360 and gobs of smaller things like t-shirts, videos, toys, duffle bags, etc.

It used to be a lot easier to win. The internet has created so much more competition than there used to be 10 years ago. But you can still maximize your chances by concentrating your efforts on local or regional sweepstakes. Two of my trips were from local promotions, one from a grocery chain and the other from a TV station.

Good luck,

Mary

Keep your eyes and ears open. Check your local radio and TV station websites. Radio station remotes are good. Look for grocery store promotions. Always enter drop boxes in stores. Publix is one that is particularly good for having regional sweeps and they usually give away lots of prizes. Enter as often as the rules and your budget will allow.

Some of them are simply the luck of the draw! My big win was a quick entry...one time! :woohoo:
It took the Disney rep who called my home more time to CONVINCE me that I really had won...and that it wasn't a SCAM...and that it was totally REAL, than it did for me to enter the sweeps! :thumbsup2

I don't know if either of these count, but we won a laptop in a raffle a few years ago. Back in the '80s I also was one number off from winning the lottery, the numbers were based off of my DH and I's b-days. If only my my MIL went into labor a little earlier... :rotfl:

those who have won - do you enter hundreds of times or just once? I've been entering contests for years and wonder sometimes if it's a waste of time!

I'm bummed:sad2: My brother works at Pixar so I can't enter the YOMD sweepstakes to try to win the DVC and other prizes :sad1: That stinks!

I enter roughly about 100-150 sweepstakes a day. I've been playing since mid Dec and so far I've won over $300 worth of prizes. Still waiting on the big one though....

Bummer. You could always win airline tickets or gift certificates and use those towards a trip to WDW. :thumbsup2

Wow minnierocks!!! I just got done reading your TR and watching your GMA video on youtube!! I'm speechless!! That was awesome. Definitely a trip of a lifetime. I wish I could have read your report as it was happening. Congrats on such a big and fantastic (but nothing major as you would say :rotfl2: ) win. :thumbsup2

I am also a use of online-sweepstakes.com and pay for the premium sweeps. Some of the things I have won is luck of the draw with one entry and some were daily for months. Just remember you have to actually be in it to win, realize that drawings are usally weeks if not months after the sweeps end so it may take 6 months or more before you win something on the larger end. I enter at least 300 dailies per day and at least 100 single entries at least 5 days a week. I consider this a part time job and I treat it like that, but I really enjoy it.

Most of the time...I enter just once. Hang in there...your time will come! :goodvibes

Those trips to Disney sound AWESOME!
But my husband and I were sitting home the Saturday before St.Patty's day and we were playing Skip-Bo in bed and had on XM radio on the Lucy station.
And we were BIG winners!:cool1:
We won:
a bar of Irish Spring Soap
a travel-sized box of Lucky Charms cereal
and a Guiness beer coaster!!

We almost won the Grand Prize:
A bottle of Gold Bond's Powder! ... but we lost to some guy in Florida!

I will aim higher next time!:lmao:

A couple of weeks ago I won a disney enchanted call from disneyrewards.com. I ended up using it last night to have Cinderella call my DD, 6, and wish her goodnight. The look on her face when she answered the phone was priceless. It was a mix between surprise and happiness. After the phone call she asked me,

"Is Cinderella real?"

"You just talked to her right now didn't you?" I replied.

"Ok, she is real.", she said with a big smile on her face.

The prize itself may have only been $2.49. But the look on her face as she listened to Cinderella was priceless.

Last week I was one of the weekly first prize winner from a website of a 7night trip to the Domican Republic for poker bootcamp and a chance to play for a seat in the world poker tour tournament. My biggest win yet!!!

We won the Kellogg's Disney Bobblehead Sweepstakes back in 2003. It was a one-time-please-stop-bugging-me-kids-I'll-enter thing. I deleted the first notice as spam, and the 2nd one went to my junk mail, but I looked at it more carefully...4 nights, 5 days at the GF, hoppers, airfare, transfers, and $250 Disney Dollars. AWESOME time!

That year, I also won a dishwasher from Cascade (didn't know I'd entered, it was tied to my store loyalty card) and a $500 cash prize from some online thing (I think I was their 500,000th visitor or something).

I have 2 DDs that are WDW CMs now, though, so no more winning for us.

I just wanted to tell you...my oldest DD was one of the CMs who was in the crowd to surprise you that morning and I can't even begin to tell you HOW excited she was for you! This is a girl who works an afternoon/night shift b/c she hates mornings, but she was thrilled when she was able to sign up for the "surprise". She even called me at some ungodly hour of the morning to let me know she was on her way and I got her "trip report" afterward, too.

Thank YOU for making her job feel magical!

I won a free tank of gas ($50 gift card) Thursday by being the tenth caller into my favorite radio station 103.3. I am pretty lucky at call in contests. When I first moved to St. Louis, I won lots of movie passes by calling into radio stations.

Because of this thread, I started signing up for sweepstakes using online-sweepstakes.com. Well, it paid off b/c after entering a contest ONCE (from AMF Bowling Centers), I won a $200 Brookstone gift card!!!:cool1:
