Have you ever glued Legos together?

If so, what kind of glue did you use?

DD8 got a Lego Star Wars spacecraft for her birthday today. We put it together this evening and she wants to play with it but it keeps falling apart. She asked me to glue it together for her. I know super glue, when it dries on plastic, turns white. I wanted to use something that didn't show up when I get it on the outside of the blocks.

Can anyone help me? I was going to use elmers glue but I don't think that will really hold very well. I am hoping there is some kind of Lego glue out there that I've never seen before.

I feel your pain-my son has a bunch of Star Wars ships..all apart in his Lego bins, they don't last very long even when he's careful.

I did try to glue the jet engines to a Lego plane set he has because they kep falling off, but even using Krazy Glue they eventually came off.

I remember searching for glue for Legos online, but never came across anything, sorry. I'll be watching this to see if anyone has any ideas because he just loves the sets but the only ones that stay together are his house and his fire station. It's frustrating.

I asked my husband and he said, Aleene's Tacky Glue. It dries clear and can be taken apart by an adult if you wanted to but is strong enough to hold the sculpture together.

He said don't use crazy glue. He also said coming up with a way to make the model stronger using other Lego parts is most desirable cause once its glued its no longer a 'fun' toy. Can you tell we have boys that have been through mega amounts of Lego sets?

My DH used clear spray lacquer on the giant Star Destroyer. The kids don't really play with it though, it's more for looking at, so I can't say how well it holds up to activity.

Is it widely available? I ask only because I've never heard of the brand.:upsidedow I was thinking about using modeling glue.

I hope the OP doesn't mind my questions. My two boys have a large collection of Bionicles and I find tiny Lego pieces in every nook and cranny of their rooms.:headache: And they get upset when I accidently vacuum up the pieces.

We used Krazy Glue and haven't had a problem - other than it dries quick so don't make a mistake!

Good luck with whatever!

:)

methylene..brush it on..it melts the pieces together. dont ask me where to buy it,,:confused3..never mind..its cancerous..fuggedaboutit

I can't answer your glue question, but having 3 boys we went thru millions of lego's. After they got older, like 8 or 9, they started to do the real complicated airplanes and my husband had a neat idea. Once they were done, he got some thread and tied it to the ends in a 3 way triangle, and tacked it to the ceiling of their room! It was SO cool. And a great way to admire all their hard work. Just a thought!:)

After doing some extensive searching online, I found a site that said to use a regular low heat glue gun. I glued the spacecraft together, it worked like a charm! :thumbsup2

You just have to be quick to get the piece on once you put the glue on. I put one in the wrong spot and it took me a while to get it off so I could put it in the right place.

Thanks for the info!

Once you permanently glue it together, you won't be able to take it apart at a later date, to put it together again.

My nephews used to make intricate Lego sculptures with Elmer's Glue. When they got tired & wanted the Legos to make something else, my DSis used to fill up the bathtub with hot water and soak the sculptures until the Elmer's glue dissolved.
