Have you ever been complimented by a stranger?

I was posing for pictures at the Grand Floridian on the day of our Vow Renewal and a little girl screamed "Look, Mom!! It's Cinderella!" As you can see from my siggie pic, I look NOTHING like Cinderella, but it was so cute!

Later that day, as I was walking through the GF lobby, two little girls very shyly approached me and the younger one was urging the older one "go ahead, ask her" and the older girl (maybe 9 years old?) asked, "Are you a princess?" They even tried to give me some flowers their Dad had just given them. OMG! That day was literally the most fun day of my life and was full of happiness and lots of compliments, but at that moment, I felt like a princess. It was so sweet!

Over the past few years I've made a point of trying to compliment people more since so much of my life I was put down. At first I found it rather awkward, but the more I have done it the easier it has gotten. This thread has made me happy to see that people really do enjoy it and don't think I'm a freak. I'm one of those people who like to compliment parents on the well behaved kids because I don't think they really do get compliments for that.

I usually get complimented on my red hair from old men and women.

It's nice to know there are still young men out there that know how to compliment a woman other that "hey baby", or whistling at her.

I have a (bad) habit of gasping if someone has incredibly beautiful eyes. Then I tell them, and they probably think I am very strange, especially the female ones!

I took it as a compliment.

My BF's neighbor was walking up the stairs behind us, as we reached BFs door. He told Ed that I was the reason men let women walk up stairs in front of them. Then added - Oh and btw you have great eyes too.

At least I know the workouts are doing something!!

I laughed - Ed was not as happy LOL!!!!

With so much turmoil, sadness, rudeness...it's so good to hear these stories and to know there are kind people out there...I myself will start complimenting people more...maybe I'll run into my cutie in the car and repay the compliment

I enjoy compliments from women and older people. But, it feels creepy to me when strange men say things. Yesterday, some guy comes up to me outside walgreens and says, "it's amazing the way your hair shines in the sunlight." Can I just say, Eww.

I went to seven eleven one night, and some creepy guy on a bike told me I was gorgeous... Considering I was looking rather rough, and I was wearing my scruffies... I can only guess he was drunk. Seriously, after a long day of teething 6 month old twins, and a crabby 4 and 7yo.. I was not looking my best!

My favorite was when I was shopping with my 4yo and I think the twins were 2 months old... A women came up to me and commented on how pretty all my children were, and told me there was a special place in heaven for me. I love it when people tell me how gorgeous my kids are.. and leave out the fact that I look like death warmed over most days.

This summer while I was in a food store, a woman approached me and told me I had great legs and asked what kind of workout I did. I had only started working out by walking this spring and my ususal MO with workouts is that I start for the early summer, quit by late July. That woman has been my inspiration to keep going. I am still at it and feel wonderful. She probably has no idea how she influenced another person, but it was a powerful moment. The power of kindness...

So I was coming out of the store and a guy asked me for directions to a local place...I gave them to him and proceeded to get into my car.. As I am getting in, he pulls around and apologizes that he didn't want to bother me again, since I already gave him the directions,but wanted to know if I was single..that I was absolutely adorable...I said no, sorry.. He apologized again, and just said he had to ask...OMG he was adorable himself..looked like Seth McFarlane. That hasn't happened to me in years! I had such a bad day at work, this really ended the day well for me .

I have NEVER been complimented like that by a stranger, how awesome! Guys I work with like to "flirt" with me, but somehow a complete stranger just does something for you. HOW COOL FOR YOU!
