Since our plans have changed and instead of bringing our camper down, we are staying in a cabin, I have to make plans for our Pomeranian, Tazz. Has anyone used the kennels in FW?? What are they like?? As excited as we all are to be staying in a resort, we are all worried about our furry family member!! :guilty: I know we plan on visiting him a few times each day, not only to walk him, but just to see him. Is the kennel close enough to the outpost that you can walk to it from there? We are going to request a loop in 2100 to be close to Meadows, but now I'm thinking maybe being close to the outpost might be more convenient for visiting.

Any recommendations or warnings to make arrangements for a kennel at home instead?

Thanks!! :D

I checked out the kennels over by MK and decided not to leave my dogs. I have a Pommie also and she would be a nervous wreck if I left her there. It was a large room full of cages that were stacked on top of each other. With other dogs in the room barking all day, she would be spazzing out. We just take our camper so we don't have to worrry about our "kids". Since we travel so much, the camper is like a second home to them.

We have used the kennels at FW for the past 7 years and have been very pleased with them. They are extremely clean (no kennel odor), and the staff is very pleasant and professional, in addition to being very personable. I think I love my beagle about as much as anyone can love a dog, and my wife is one of the fussiest people I know when it comes to the conditions where she would leave our buddy. The FW kennels get a thumbs up from both of us. :moped:

They have a list of requirement shots. Make sure you find out what they are and bring your paperwork with you, showing your dog has had the required immunizations. Our cat was missing one of the shots and couldn't stay. Luckily it was for when our camper needed servicing so i just sent him to the repair shop with the RV and DH.

The cms at FW kennel are wonderful. We have left our cat and dog there and never had a problem. Can't say enough good things about this location, they are just wonderful to our pets.

They generally open about 7am and stay open until a few hours after the parks closes.

Make sure you bring your pets immunization records including that they have the kennel cough vaccination. The overnight fee (including dry food) for WDW resort guests is $9. Guests are encouraged to walk their pets at least twice per day as they are not otherwise let out of their cages. Proof that the animal has had all of its shots is also required. Hours for the kennel are 7:30 am to 8 pm.

It is located at the front of the campground.

I agree, the kennel at FW is great. If you happen to get back after the kennel closes (If you are staying at a pet loop) just stop by the reception outpost and one of the reception cast members will walk over with you and get your pet out so they can come home with you for the night.

For the safety of your pet and others, it is required that dogs be current on their required vaccinations which include:
  • Rabies
  • Parvovirus
  • Distemper
  • Hepatitis
  • Parainfluenza
  • Bordetella (kennel cough)

Many vets list some of these on their records as DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza) or DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)

For other questions, you can call the kennel directly at 407-824-2735
