Has anyone read any of the Disney After Dark (Kingdom Keepers) books?

My mother bought my DD (11) The Kingdom Keepers last summer as a last-day-of-school gift.

We returned from DW yesterday and all day today, I've been thumbing for through the book. I'm loving it!

For those who don't know, I won't give away the plot, but the book is dedicated "to anyone and everyone who ever wondered what happens when the gates are closed and the lights go out".

I just learned that there are two sequels (which take place in Epcot, HS and AK). I think I'm going to pick them up and put them in DD's Easter basket this year.

For anyone interested, the books are for ages 10 and up. The author is Ridley Pearson.

I gave them to my DD(12) almost 2 years ago now. She LOVED them. Read them all.

DS(9) is now reading the Percy Jackson series, and will read Kingdom Keepers next. (unless another 39 clues comes out before he's done reading all 5 Percy Jackson books.)

Last Sep I wanted to get the first book for DD11, but they didn't have any left, so I had to buy book #2.

We both read it and loved it. It's not too deep, but it is entertaining.

I got one after listening to Ridley Pearson on Lou's podcast, I really enjoyed the one I read and as time allows I will grab the others, they were an easy read but fun too.

No but I read the first few pages of it on Amazon and now want to read them. Seems there's another book for the series coming out in April.

I have them both. Really cute books....although you won't look at IASW the same again ;) :rotfl: Book #3 was supposed to come out in August and now they are saying April. Keeping my fingers crossed. Book #2 was set in AK. Not nearly as good as the first one but still cute.

I just picked up the first one for my ds (8) last week. He is a strong reader and loves it. He calls me everytime they mention a park, attraction, etc... It is so cute! I will have to read them myself :)

I agree 100%! My sister & I read the books and we refuse to ride IASW on a slow day, in fear of getting put in a boat by ourselves! Those dolls look a lot creepier now that I've read the book!

LOVE THEM! They are definitely children's books, but it is so fun to read and recognize all the places in the parks. Talked DH into reading them and now we are both sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next one!

We have the two that are out and can't wait for the third. It was fun to see the horror on my older two children's faces as we rode IASM (my younger one's favorite ride) several times and each time we went something was different. One character was facing backwards or one was missing that was there. It really got them interested in the ride again;

Since the books are really geared toward the 10 and up set, it might be a bit scary for a 7.5 year old. You never know, though. I guess it all depends upon the child's "scare factor". You might want to skim through the book yourself first.

I have read them both! It's a nice easy read for an adult, and it's interesting to see how "behind the scenes" action is described. :thumbsup2

I have read the 1st one and my 10 yr old read both and loved them! they are actually coming out with a 3rd soon.

Some one asked if theya re ok for a 7.5 yr old. My 7 yr old (2nd grader) read the 1st one.

My 8yo still believes in the magic of Disney and still believes in the characters, so we haven't shown her the books. DH & I have read them, but don't want the book's behind the scene's info to take away some of the magic she sees at Disney.
I'm sure she just doesn't want to think about the characters too closely or logic would prevail and she'd quit believing, but until she starts questioning, I don't want to break the magic.

Mia likes behind-the-scenes info but she finds what I consider to be odd things frightening so I'll save these for later. Thanks!

I just finished reading them. The reading level is definitely for kids, but I liked them anyway. Looking foward to another one coming out.

My DD is 7 and I will not let her read them. She would have nightmares!
