Has anyone ever had problems with Disney gift cards from Target?

Update...Target says they ARE activated, Disney website says they AREN'T, only number to report issues about a Disney GC at Disney is a MESSAGE service..they will call you back. Naturally they didn't. Leave today -$150.00 due to Target's ineptness and Disney poor CS on this issue.

I'd take them to a Target store before you go, they can fix it there. The way they active them is by scanning the bar code on the plastic piece on top of the gift card on the back.

I would not buy the gift cards online, I've heard way too many horror stories.
Yea, I think I've learned my lesson the hard way. I won't buy anymore online, only in store.

I checked mine for the balances that I've bought lately in store & they were all good. Figure I'll check them out after I get home & not have a possible surprise in the parks.

Just paid for most of our vacation on the gift cards and we had no problem. using the gift cards on line is much easier too and if you feel bad about giving a CM all those gift card numbers you can just pay on line. I should mention we purchased at the store and I know I was always worried if it was activated properly. I like the Idea someone suggested of asking the cashier to check that they were activated properly. When Target was out of stock in the store I thought of purchasing on-line but I just did not feel good about it so I decided to wait until they were back in stock.
Has anyone had trouble with in-store purchase???::MinnieMo::MinnieMo::MinnieMo::MinnieMopooh:pooh::dogdance::fish:

Make sure the card is in pristine condition and the back has not had the silver scratched off (that's a gift card fraud scam - they write down the #s after scratching off the gift card, wait for it to be activated and use it before you can). You can call to double check that the card was activated and definitely hang on to your receipt. I've used a ton this last trip and didn't have an issue.

Very wise decision! It would probably be fine, but if it isn't, you are in a terrible position with Target online customer support.

I have paid off 3 trips in the last 2 years using GC's from Target and have had no issues bit I will say that I always purchase mine in the store, never online. This way, I have the receipt with the activation numbers in hand and if there were ever a problem with one of them, I'd march right back into my store to get it fixed. I just purchased another $750 worth last night with no issues. I'm just curious for those who have purchased them online and have had problems, have you tried going to your local store to try and get some resolution? I made an online purchase (not a GC) and the product was defective. Took it to my local Target and they replaced it for me with no problems.

We have used tons of these over the past several years. Never had a problem.

I also was wondering if anyone who bought online and had issues brought them into the store to get the cards activated?

I buy mine online because I get Target gift card codes that can only be used online, so I take a chance, but so far all have been activated.

Well I am back from my trip. My current problem..Target says cards ARE activated Disney site says they are NOT..when you call Disney you leave a messgae and they never call you back. So now I have to waste more time trying to get this resolved. and still $150 short..all because someone in the Target warehouse just shoved the GC in a bag without activating them. Never ever ever buy GC from Target online..just saying.

Bought a number of gift cards for last trip. When we arrived at YC, I had the CM add them to our magic band. Of the 20 or so I bought, one of them was not activated. I have to say that I wouldn't let it spoil our trip, and there was nothing I could do about it at the time. When I got home, I found the receipt that showed the card had been activated and looked up the value on the disney website. It indicated the card had not been activated. Target would not do anything about it, but a few contacts to the toll free Disney number, with pictures of my receipt with gift card number, and the back of the gift card and the card was activated. It didn't help for that trip, but was a good $50 start toward saving for the next.

Now I always check the value of the card on the Disney site right after I buy them.

I'm new to buying Target gift cards to make payments on my Disney trips. I've always bought them for spending money but just decided to save a little more and use them for trip payments. Actually I just bought my first 4 the other day to pay $200 on my cruise. When we went in November 2012 we took $500 in gift cards to Pop Century with us for spending money. I never checked to make sure they were active but I did have my receipts stapled to the cards. This year I'm almost anal about checking the balance every time I buy a card!!! Whether it be at Target or CVS (where I work!). I don't want to end up at WDW or our ship and my cards not work. Anyone else anal about checking balances these days?

So, you bought them in a Target store, and Target wouldn't help you? Now, that's really bad. I know it's virtually impossible to get Target to help if you bought the gift cards online, but I thought they would help you if the cards were bought in the store.:confused3

As far as I'm concerned, you might as well flush your $ down the toilet and stand there and hope it comes back up! That's really the way I feel about buying Disney gift cards at Target.com!

I've bought $550 worth of disney gift cards from Target online and I am so grateful they were all activated. Yikes.

Is it just gift cards from Target? I bought 300.00 worth of Disney gift cards, for our upcoming trip, at SAMs club. I read these posts and asked him where the receipts were and he said he threw them away!!! Yikes!! We also got some as Christmas gifts, I think they bought them at Walmart. But since they were gifts, I didn't ask for the receipts. Nervous......

Thanks to whoever mentioned the gift card app. I went to the App Store and downloaded it and put in all my cards and they are fine. It shows when they were activated. I love it that it also shows what your balance is on each card after you use it. This is wonderful!!

Yes. I bought them at the store. They said there was nothing they could do. I was shocked. It is weird though that the receipt showed them all as activated (I think I had purchased 4 on that receipt) but that is the only one that didn't truly get activated. It showed I paid $50 for it though.
