Has anyone done this before ?

troll alert!

And also-if 300 would make or break your trip you really shouldn't be going anyways!

You would really do that? Don't go if you can't afford to without lying. What are you teaching your children?

I can afford to go without lying but i'd rather lie and save my money and spend it on something else. Sure you all dont like it but it's done daily at DW im sure so im not going to beat myself up about it. I already said most likely I wont go back this year anyway so save the be a good person speech for someone has scruples:lmao:

I'm just not sure why folks have to get rude & snooty & even ugly when they answer these questions.

personally I wouldn't lie because I'm a bad liar. and if we ate at buffets I'll probably just say hey my son doesn't eat much can he just eat off my plate...if they say no..then I'll have no choice but to pay for him...I'm sure many of people do it especially at 3yrs old...I would just save up the money and go when you have it.

Yep, be careful. You are new here so you should know this is one of the biggest things that upsets people.

We went just before our DD15 was 3, and I was nervous because she was big for her age so I had her birth certificate with me just in case. While we were never asked for it, at least once (that I remember) they asked her how old she was. She was able to answer truthfully because she was not quite 3, but had she not been I wouldn't think she would lie and say 2, once she turned 3 she was way too proud and excited to say 2 anymore. You need to be prepared for them to ask (I hear it happens a lot more now,) and to get charged for him.

The OP is just sad - and a reflection of what is wrong with society. Corporations do not exist without the people (stockholders) that own them. So, yes, everytime you steal from a corporation you are, in fact, stealing from a person.

To why I quoted the above person, after your post and the posts of others on this thread, I'm starting to worry that people will think I am a liar like the OP. We are going to Disney in a couple of weeks with my DDs who are 2 1/4 and 5 months. DD who is 2 is the size of an average 4 year old and lately when anybody asks her how old age is she says 3! For whatever reason, she just will not say she is 2. Looks like I may just have to carry her birth certificate in my pocket so that it is easily accessible.

They just love a big bash fest I guess :confused3Whatever gets thier day rolling:rotfl: I just asked if anyone has done it I didnt ask anyone to question my morals or decision about it. At the end of the day if im going to do than ill do it if im not than I wont and i already said im not doing it simply because i dont want to do disney twice in one year but im sure the posts will keep coming attacking me .

No that is not stealing. I did not bag my own groceries someone else did. I did not notice i had the other woman's bag until I was home and i was not walking back out in the snow to hand them over a bag of groceries. I charged it to the game thanked the lord for my freebies and moved on .

Did it really never occur to you that you could have returned the items the next time you went to the grocery store??

Please explain what " charged it to the game" means?? That's way over my head. Also, I can assure you that the Lord had nothing at all to do with your freebies.

Morals aside- I think Disney keeps the age of your children in their records. So you would have to keep up the lie for a long time if you decide to go back.

When we there a clouple weeks ago we took a side trip to a zoo with extended family. I was so used to Disney and the under 3 policy that I bought tickets for everyone but my son. DH asked me in the car after we left why I would lie to save a few bucks. It turns out that kids under 2 were free not 2 and under:headache: I still feel guilty, I couldn't imagine lying everyday we walked into the park.

It absolutely IS stealing. It doesn't matter who bagged your groceries, you did not return something you did not pay for, therefore you stole. You should have called the store, explained the situation and asked the manager how they wanted to handle it. I understand not wanting to walk in the snow but to say it's not stealing, well that's just lying.

As for lying about a child's age. Yes, people do it. It's dishonest, it's lying and stealing. I have not done that, my kids did not go to Disney until they were well over 3 so we paid. I wouldn't suggest you do it ever, but it's ultimately a choice that each person must make on their own.

And just to comment on the CM's asking the child how old they are, my DD13 would tell everyone she was already 3 when she was only 2, she was a big talker, very outspoken and acted older then she was, she was quite articulate and she told everyone she was 3. LOL If we had taken her to DLR then I would have made sure I had a copy of her birth certificate with me. LOL She was also a tiny little thing so that really confused people. :)

And to add an experience I personally had while trying to enter DCA, there was a family in front of me with 2 strollers, each parent was pushing a child, the Mom gave 2 tickets to the CM and the CM argued with them saying their children were NOT 3 or under and that they needed to buy admission for the kids. They eventually got in but it took a while and when she scanned our APs she said something to the effect of "loving those people who trying to cheat the system by getting their kids in free". Then she said "obviously not you guys, you've got the BIG APs." LOL We had Premiums with no blackout dates, those cost us a pretty penny. :) So yes, CMs will question if they think your child is too old to get in for free.

My first was a huge child and no one has ever asked to see his birth certificate. I'm thinking they just look at tall DH and figure out that's why he looks so much older than he is. (I'm careful to not have him stand next to short me if he qualifies for a younger age thing). He went through a phase of telling people he was older than he was too. So I kept asking him over and over. The longer we played the game, the older he started saying he was - until he was a 2 year old telling everyone he was 6.

I was tiny growing up and my grandparents lied about my age all the time when they took us on trips. I remember being 12 and them saying I was 9 and I asked them in front of the business, "How old am I today?"

You already know that someone has done it because you yourself said you heard people do it. Your reason for posting was simply to stir the pot.

It is stealing if you kept this because in your own admission you said it was not your bag. Another person paid for it and you took it....thats a theif in my book.

Wow...I had to get through this whole thing to just be irritated. That is the reason why companies like disney charge so high. People looking to get a freebie and try to get past the system. Its like the people who buy shoes at Kmart and then return them saying they didnt fit when the whole bottoms are wore off. Or the ladies who buy a dress for a wedding but keep the tags on it tucked in so it can be returned after the wedding...
My grandma used to say what goes around comes around...I hope the poster buys a lobster one day and forgets her bag letting the next person "charge it to the game.."

Sure, we do it all the time. I tell them my DH is 2 so I don't have to pay for him. Why should I pay for him? In fact I tell them all of us are 2 or under so we all get in for free. It's not like we are going to ride every ride anyway. Even if we did we are just taking the place of the people who don't.
I also bring some Disney Mugs I got at a garage sale in '91. I refill those puppies at every soda fountain. I paid for those mugs fair and square so I am going to reuse them. We also rent one room at the POP and we even bring the grandparents with us. We are a close family so 10 in a room is not a problem. Heck that bathub fits 2-3 people easily.
Oh- and did you see the pool over at the Grand Floridian? We usually swim over there. It is much less crowded than the POP and they even put all these fancy foods out on some of the hotel floors there! We never even have to pay for a meal!
I will give you all the tips! Just ask!

;):rotfl::laughing:

I'm NOT saying it's the right or honest thing to do, BUT is Disney going to go bankrupt if one (it's not like they can do it every year - the kid's only 3 once!) of their customers who I'm sure will spend waaay more than $300 on merchandise and food gets to save a couple of bucks just this one year? Please say I have no morals - I really don't care. I don't have ANY kids - so I pay full price - but if I had a 3 year old - I would probably say the same thing. Disney is expensive as it is. As much as I LOVE it - I have to say it can get pretty expensive especially when you add a couple of kids to the mix. Last August we brought my 2 nephews (12 + 13) with us and spent over 8k (this was NOT in a Disney resort!!!)! When just the two of us go - we spend maybe 3k. Almost triple what we spend alone! My sister can't even think of it with her 4 kids. I feel terrible. They should really make it more affordable and then people wouldn't resort to lying!

I read someones post that said "it's like stealing someone's bag", but in all reality that would mean Disney charging us $45 for a stuffed animal that they paid $1.95 for in China is pretty much the same thing ( I work in imports trust me). And YES in this economy that $300 might mean a LOT more to her than we think.

So NO I do not think it's the end of the world. I say do your thing and save your $300 this year cuz next year you won't have a prayer in the world if your kid is that big already, LOL

We went last year with my son, 2 weeks before his birthday. I brought along his birth certificate with us for the plane ride because I was afraid that they would question his age due to his height. They did and, luckily, I had his birth certificate with us.

Personally, I would never do this to Disney and try to get one over. Why? Because the money they lose will eventually be passed down to their consumer....ME. I would also never do this to their employees. CM's already get paid peanuts and I feel bad that the majority of them do such a wonderful job and don't get to reap the rewards, so to speak.

If you want to take a trip and lie, go for it. I would never take a trip where I couldn't afford to BE HONEST. If I have to lie to save money, then I wouldn't go.

I firmly believe that what goes around comes around. ;)

If EVERY family did that it would cost WDW a lot of money. The bottom line is that is costs X amount of money to go to WDW. If you can't afford it then stay home and save more money. WDW is not a right.
