Has anyone done the Sing-a-long with Chip & Dale at FW?

I read about it in our most recent Disney Vacation Magic and think it would be real fun for DS. Has anyone done it? Also, what is the best way around FW, we will have a car, but not to familiar with this resort. We were thinking of having dinner at Trails End and then going to the campfire. One of DS favorite videos is "Campout at Walt Disney World" and it ends with this campfire, and I think he would think its the coolest thing to be "there" himself!! Could we park at WL and walk over...how far of a walk is it.

My DD & I have gone to it several times and we love it! We get there about 30 min. early to get a nice bench seat and I nibble on cheese popcorn from the chuckwagon while my DD roasts marshmallows. The sing-a-long is great fun for all ages! We never have a car, so we use WDW trans. We take the boat over from MK and then catch an internal FW bus from the Settlement Depot to the campfire site ( get off at loop 900-1000, or loop 1500, I think). We leave the movie in time to catch the last boat back to MK and catch a bus back to our resort.

The sing along usually lasts about 30 min. with plenty of time before hand to roast marshmallows. Chip and Dale will walk around and visit afterwards. There is a movie after the sing along. Check out the camping board for more info and sometimes the movie schedule for the month is posted as well. It's a lot of fun!

We took the boat over to FW from the MK. We had dinner at Trails End (we enjoyed that and it's a great deal) and then took a bus over to the movie area. We got the smores kit and it was a bargin. For $5 you get a package of graham crackers, 2 chocolate bars and about 30 marshmellows. We just stayed for the entertainment, we didn't want to stick around for the movie. We walked back to the boat dock. It was a nice walk, but there were plenty of mosquitos out. We really enjoyed our night BTW we went in July and it was crowded at all.

Yeah I did it a few years ago when I was 14. Lets see, that was uh, 1972.

We enjoyed the campfire in May 2001. We took one of the FW busses from the parking lot. Unfortunately, it wasn't the regular driver and he had no idea where the campfire was! We circled around FW a couple times and stopped for directions a few times. We got the s'mores pack and made those before Chip and Dale got there. We only watched part of the movie so that we could go down to the water to see the water pageant. That was relaxing - but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.

I want to do this on our up comming trip. I called FW the other day and was told that the sing-a long begins at 8 PM. Should I get there before 8 to be able to do the marshmallow roasting, or is that at the same time the sing-a-long starts? Wouldn't want to miss anything

We got there a little ealier than starting time to make s'mores. Once the singing starts, people are still getting up and down to do the marshamallows, etc., but we sat and sang and enjoyed it more that way, I think.

This campfire is one of my more vivid memories of our first trip to WDW with our children. We really enjoyed it! The transportation by bus from POFQ to FW wasn't exactly flawless (the bus driver didn't seem to know about any campfire) but we just followed the crowd and we found our way just fine. It was a happy, low-key evening that I remember fondly.

You could walk from the WL, but the exercise trail is about a mile from end to end and it can be quite dark. If I were coming from WL I'd take the launch that does the FW/WL/CR loop and you will be at the marina which is very close to the Trail's End. From there catch the bus to the campfire.

Remember--the campfire time changes when the time changes.
