Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Can someone verify that the bands work if the Mickey is painted or colored in? I just decorated ours with nail polish (over the Mickey too) and a friend mentioned they may not work?
Many people here have painted their bands with nail polish, acrylic paints, and even gems over the Mickey heads. All of theirs have worked. I actually don't think I recall anyone's not working but it is suggested to stay away from metal as it could interfere with the chip. Your nail polish decorated ones will be fine :)

I have a question for the AP's on here, how long did your customizing hold up? I will be doing the magicyourbands more than likely since I have the attention span of a gnat on Red Bull, but I want to paint the perimeter of the band in glow in the dark paint and seal it but was wondering if it will survive the year. For those who use the decals, how easy are they to switch out and reuse? And last, I will be doing some plain vinyl ones on my Silhouette and I keep seeing there is a template and was wondering if anyone can direct me to it.

Hi @FortWildernessLoopy - Our vinyl has a 4-7 year outdoor life and we've had some skins on one set of MagicBands since January 2014 and they still look fine. They are easy to remove when you want to switch them and don't leave any sticky marks on your MagicBand.

The vinyl holds up really well, but you can't remove it and use it again. Once you take it off its done. A tip for application of the vinyl is once you stick it on and smooth it out, run a blow dryer over it for about 30 seconds, it helps the adhesive stick better.

We loved our Magic Your bands, www.magicyourband.com. I was gonna try to make some because I could not find exactly what everyone wanted then I found this site!! Time and headache saver indeed!!
Most of our party of 5's did very well on our 5 day Disney trip! I did replace 2 of them mid way through the trip. One because my son kept taking his band on and off, he likes to fiddle with stuff. The only reason I changed it is because there were wrinkles and it stretched where the holes and my phone number was. Damage due to being taken on and off several times per day. The other because it got a little worn looking, it was technically ok though, I just had free time at our resort, it was on our 4 yr old.
No worries though because we ordered one each of our custom designs and they sent us a few copies of each!
To make them I just googled images in advanced search over 2 megapixels then played until I found pics that fit well!! The system to design them takes a little getting used to but is easy once you get the hang of it. I totally missed the background, foreground image button, then found out I could add a few pics per side!! I also added my phone number to the kids ones just in case!
If you want a unique band but not the hassel and headache, go to them, they are amazing and customer service is amazing too!! We got them in a little less than a week ;)
Here are pics of ours..... We went to Star Wars Weekends......

@FortWildernessLoopy see my post above, we were very impressed with their durability! I changed out 2 out of 3 of my kids decals. 1 because he kept taking it on and off and the holes section was a little jumbled where my phone number was, he is severe adhd. The other because it had a few scuffs from the 4 yr old, swimming and playing, it was fine though. The adults and 10 yr old's are still going strong and put up at home with the 1st decal still on. We were in the parks 5 long days and swam a few times ;) We ordered one quantity for around $8.00 each I think and got a few copies of each design.... Have a great trip!

Fantastic information, thank you! I guess I was thinking they may be more like Colorforms (Oh boy, did I just age myself) and be able to be removed and reused. Definitely not a deal breaker. We just get the one set for the year and my husband would primarily like a TB Lightning one and I ....well, I'll probably need to take some serious time to narow it down to 5 selections for one day. See?!? This is why I could never get a tattoo.:crazy2:

I read the "no metal on the Mickey" warnings. Has anybody used the glitter nail polish from Del Sol that changes color in the sunshine on the Mickey head successfully? Maybe just one coat?

This may be my most favorite on the first 140 pages!

I got my new magicbands in the mail this week! Here are the two new designs.. Nightmare Before Christmas for my husband and I did Finding Nemo/Dory band for myself :D

Amazing detail!! I could never do this.

Finally photographed all my current bands and cropped them into one convenient photo! The Nightmare before Christmas and the castle with Jiminy and fireworks are mine, Mr. incredible is for my dad, Olaf for my mom, Indiana Jones and R2D2 are my husband's, the castle with tink and the partners statue is for a friend traveling with us, and finally the Epcot logos is my ap band. We just booked a split stay January for 4, so that means 8 more bands to paint! So far, out of the eight, there are already plans for: another castle, tigger, a variation on the Epcot on, Mickey and small world. I have until the end of December to plan. All bands are acrylic paint, no base coat, then a brush on (not spray) acrylic gloss varnish. They are flexible, no cracks, and have held up pretty well so far wearing them around the house and to work (an elementary school teacher can get away with wearing a magic band as a bracelet).

They all look great!

I used glitter polish on my Mickey head, no problems :)

Tarahart24, I love your magic band decals! I really want the Incredibles one, where do you get them? I've done an Etsy search, Google search and can't find any Magic Band accessories that include the details on the Mickey icon like yours

I'm not the original poster, but judging by the reg marks, the OP used their Silhouette machine at home to make their wraps (Which look fantastic, btw!)

As AP we may only get one set, but that hasn't stopped me from buying additional magic bands to decorate. lol

The hardest part about having decorated bands is deciding which one to wear, and I have been known to wear more than one on occasion.

I LOVE your haunted mansion one! How did you do it? I've been on the site and have played around with different pictures, but didn't know you could layer them.

I also have a problem finding the right dpi or size, what should i search for?

Finished my youngest's Jack band today

His head glows in the dark, the black sides and eyes are glittered. I did a full step by step with materials in the most recent update for my PTR (in my signature)
Last year I only did my band, purple with purple glitter, but this year the whole gang wants personalized bands!
I did this Jack band and my own Snow White themed band today (I'll get pictures later). I'm doing a Stitch band for my oldest (unless he changes his mind when he gets home from camp), and probably just making DH's band glow in the dark.

I've been following this thread since it began, but I'm not sure I've posted in it before!
I admire the work that goes into these bands and it's so much fun to make something specialized :-):-)

Has anyone actually purchased the temporary tattoo inkjet printer paper? If so how did it work on the MBs?

I<3 Dopey did, but the photos don't show up anymore. I'm pretty sure that I have seen it on pinterest though....I remember someone mentioning the temporary tattoo. I bought the paper to do the design on my husband's band, but never tried it.

ok so here are my magic bands. For dopey I had to print my own tattoo. i had to buy special paper to do this but am very happy with the results. Dopey is my favorite character so of course he is who I wanted on my magic band here are the 7 of the 10 i still have some to do. I find the girls bands easier to decorate as we can use more items to our advantage.
