Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I was hoping to do some 4th of July bands for our trip next week, but I have run out of time. Here is my DD's latest band. She requested a Haunted Mansion theme. At least we all have one new band to wear for the trip. :-)

Wowza. Talented!

So what kind of paint pens are people buying? DecoColor? Or are people just using acrylic paint and brushing it on? I am starting to feel bold enough to paint one perhaps. :)
I put 2 coats of base coat nail polish on my band, and then painted with acrylics over that, then two more coats of base coat nail polish on top. I have read that you don't need the base coat on the actual band before the acrylics but I did it just to be safe. I painted it while it was closed, but didn't paint on the outer grey part, just the colored part of the band. I let it completely dry before undoing it and bending it, so far no cracks or anything like that. People have used nail polish because you can remove that with nail polish remover.

I've used nail polish (base, polish then base as a topcoat) and I've used acrylics. The last two that I did were acrylic paints with nail polish accents. I used an acrylic thinner/extender to extend the drying time and make the acrylics a little easier to use. They were drying too fast and were too thick.

So there is no acrylic paint remover? Not sure I am brave enough to paint with acrylic...

I washed it off when I wasn't happy with how it was coming out. It was before it had much of a chance to dry and before it had a top coat on it, but I also used nail polish remover to clean it off before I started over. In the past, I remember using rubbing alcohol to clean off acrylic craft paint, so maybe that works. I didn't have an rubbing alcohol, or I would have tried it.

What I like about acrylic is that it is actually pretty easy to clean up any mistakes just by wiping it off or if you are too far into it, by going over it with the another color. Like when I was doing DH's Goofy band I had some color bleed from his face to the background, so I just took the black and outlined the head to give it a clean edge, then touched up a couple of spots where the outline got thick with the appropriate color. You can't even tell where I did that.

Sounds good! I am not the best artist but I might try it. I have an idea of what I want. I also wondered if nail decals would work (the rub on kind or the water transfer kind). They make a ton of charcaters on ebay.

I did not use a base coat. I painted directly on the band and then sealed it with a base coat. I was sorry I did not use a base coat first. Mine did crack in some places. It wasn't horrible, but it was noticeable. If I did it again, I would try the base coat first.

There are a fair number of magic bands with nail decals scattered through this thread. They seem to show up nicely.

All of these bands are attached to me. I have to choose which to bring on our trip next week and deactivate the extras. I can't decide!

What color outfits are you bringing? The Castle would be my favorite of them.

We are going to be there for July 4th weekend so the plaid one is going to match what I am wearing that day. :-).

I have to pack tonight so I guess I will have to figure out what I am wearing for the rest of the trip.

Then I need to figure out which bags I'm going to carry too. I have a scary large collection of Disney purses. Haha.

Maybe you can coordinate bands and bags.

When I can't decide, I wear them all. I don't have as many as you, (yet), but when I can't decide which one to wear I wear a couple of them. I just pay attention to which one had the fast passes on it so that I wear that one on my left wrist so that it is easier for me.

For me, it is all about what I am in the mood to wear that day. I would never be able to make decisions like that ahead of time....good thing I am local to the parks and don't have to plan ahead.lol

I am thinking of bringing most of then with me. I'm just afraid of having too many bands on my account. I've seen a few reports of that causing problems at the resorts.

I have more than 10 active on my my account and haven't had any issues.

We were at Pop in Feb and our bands wouldn't open the room doors, after we had already been in the rooms once with each band. When I went to the front desk the CM there said that it might be because I had too many bands in my account. At that point I had close to 20 active bands in there with my husband and kids' bands included. I thought that it was more likely the very cold temps messing with the batteries on the doors, but since I have returned I have read a few more reports of others with similar problems, so I did wonder.

If they're all yours, they all link to your FP+. The bands themselves hold no information.

You are right. I did know that, but I forgot. DH is the one who always sets up our FP+, and he always asks me which band I am wearing, so I think I got it in my head that it was somehow connected. Also, I usually have one that I want to use rather than just wear...so whatever I put on my left wrist is more important in my mind. lol

There are some amazing bands on here!! I can't wait to try ours. Thanks everyone for the ideas and inspiration!!

I'm here with some pics of the magic band decals I designed at magicyourband.com !! I think they came out pretty good. The Hulk one came out a little darker than I thought it would, but I still think it came out nicely! A pleasant surprise is that they sent TWO of every design instead of just one. They also sent me a bonus decal. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking to design their own magic bands. Shipping was VERY speedy, and the more bands you order the more of a discount you get! I'll definitely be designing a few more before we go on our trip!
