Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Can someone please tell me how to get the tattoos onto the magic bands? Do I do it as if I were applying it to skin? Do I need to wait until the base coat is totally dry before adding tattoo or does base coat need to be sticky? TIA
Don't have my bands yet, but from reading past posts, it seems as though the base coat needs to be completely dry and then you just apply as if it were on skin.

Oh my gosh! You're killing me, Smalls! Lol! Those are amazing and now I have a strong desire for bracelets too! Lol! Where in heavens name do you find Chamilia beads? I have never even heard of them!

Only my first set of bands have been used in the parks so far. They were just painted with nail polish and not sealed. My DD's Avenger band lasted about a month of constant wearing (she wore it to school every day) until one of the snaps broke. The polish has some wear spots but it still looks good.

The bands I have been doing recently are acrylic paint with a nail polish base coat covering them (probably 3-4 coats). We have been wearing them around the house a bit, but they haven't seen any park time yet. What I have found is that if they are going to crack it is near the holes, especially if you make them kid sized.

We are leaving for a 10 day trip on Wednesday. I'll post band updates when we return.

Thank you for the info. Have a blast on your trip!! :dance3:

I have a Chamilia bracelet too. I've gotten beads at various jewelry stores, online, or in the Disney Parks.

Okay so I'm really finished now! I need to step awayyyy from the crystals.

Swarovski crystal bands.

Pink has 86 stones and gold has 173 stones. My back is sore now haha!

I'm so sorry to do this....but I'm scanning through pages and pages and trying to pick out the bits and pieces I need and want to make sure I'm doing this right! I'm not artistic, so we're looking at just clear polish and temporary tattoos. If I gather everything correctly, this is what I do.

1. Base coat nail polish direct on the bands. Doesn't really matter what brand. Let dry completely.

2. Cut and apply temporary tattoos, with damp cloth just as I would on skin. Let dry completely.

3. Base coat again on top, several coats.

Is it really that easy? Is there anything I'm missing? Any really basic suggestions for me? I'd love to do something elaborate like you all do, but I think this is all I can handle! Thank you!

So, I'm planning to decorate my whole family's magic bands. I have a basic plan and some marginal skills (nothing like some people have on here), but I need some help with ideas. Me, my husband, and three boys are all going to do an Avengers theme. I plan to do Captain America's shield, Thor's helmet on the Mickey and hammer on the band, Iron Man with the Mickey head as his glowing arc reactor, Loki's helmet on Mickey with his scepter on the band. I have all of those flushed out.

But, my hubby wants Hulk and I'm kinda fuzzy on what to do with that one. And, my two girls want Frozen - Elsa for the older and Anna for the younger. I'm not really capable of drawing people and faces, so I'm not real sure how to do these. I want to paint them all, not use tattoos or stickers.

Does anybody have any ideas that could help me? I've really enjoyed following this thread and seeing all this creativity!

Yes, it's that easy. :)

Decorating my bands tomorrow, I've been following the thread For weeks everyone is so talented. With tattoos how do I adjust for the holes do I need to poke the tattoo in or will it naturally fall into place inside the hole??? Any help would be fab

If you are not super confident about drawing, why don't you want to use tattoos? That's what I will be doing. We just got our bands yesterday and I can't wait to get to work! I found Avengers tattoos at Party City and some Frozen tattoos on eBay.

Thank you! And I've read in other places you can't cover the Mickey head because it needs to be able to physically touch the readers. That's not true, is it????

Nope! Several people have covered them with crystals and had them work fine. No, we haven't gone with ours yet but yes, I have read this ENTIRE thread. :) have fun! Ours came Monday and I am getting ready to start them soon.

YAY! our bands shipped today. Went out last night and bought tattoo's and nail polish, and paint and duct tape... So excited to start on ours

Thank you!

We are in Florida and will hit the parks for 8 days starting on Monday.

The large Ariel piece was a kibbutz that had a bigger bow on it. We cut the bow off and cut the back off of the jibbitz. They glued on very well. The shells on Ariel were also jibbitz. We got the pearls and jewels in the scrapbooking section at Michael's and Joanne.

The other bands also have jibbitz and scrapbooking jewels. The tink band has a glitter body tattoo from Party City.

We painted all of the bands with nail polish and base coat before adding any of the decorations.

This is my first post, so I hope I'm doing this correctly! Ha! I just bought the shell set that I see on your Mermaid band. I'm wondering how they held up since they seem to be made of paper-like material.

Thanks!

I can't believe some of the amazing designs and artwork that many of you are able to do! You guys should go in to business!

I am scared just trying to figure out if I even want to attempt tattoos on mine. Keep thinking my kids won't know any different if I just give them a plain band, hee hee!

I love the hand painted ones... but I am not that talented to free hand them. Was thinking about doing the tattoo's and then doing a coat of paint over them with the tattoo to guide me. Contemplating how this would work, any thoughts?

Ok..If I were to apply acrylic paint to change the color of my band and applying tattoos, do I need to apply the clear base coat on the band 1st before the acrylic paint or apply the acrylic paint, dry, clear base coat, dry then tattoos?

TIA
