I'm so ready for book seven now. It makes me sad to think that there is only one more coming our way Katholyn

I know what you mean! As much as I want to know *everything*, having book 7 come out will be bittersweet. I keep thinking "what books will I look forward to now?" I've never experienced anything like the HP phenomenon w/books. Sure, I'd look forward to an author's new release ... but never so zealously as I have w/the HP books! And, that it's made such a huge deal of -- the whole book release parties, countdowns, etc.! Do you think we'll ever see anything quite like it again? It's kind of reminiscent of that other British phenomenon - The Beatles - huh? No other book has come close to causing that frenzy ... will anything else cause quite the sensation that HP has caused? I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!!

I just finished the book last night and WOW. wowowowoww, I was all like I can't wait to read it!!! and then... the book is done!! I can't believe that the next book is gonna be the last one!!!

Question: Why is the barman of the Hog’s Head vaguely familiar to Harry? Is he Dumbledore’s brother?

JKR: Ooh—you are getting good. Why do you think that it is Aberforth? [Audience member: Various clues. He smells of goats and he looks a bit like Dumbledore]. I was quite proud of that clue. That is all that I am going to say. [Laughter]. Well yes, obviously. I like the goat clue—I s******ed to myself about that one.

Of course... her answer could be interpreted several ways, as always.

Yes, thank you so much for the link! Over the years I have religiously tried to avoid the HP fansites, but after this book I just can't keep away from them--I am just having the hardest time believing that DD could have been hoodwinked by Snape all of these years. I just found the HP Lexicon a few days ago and am going through it, a little at a time, every night. It would have taken me months to come across this link on my own!!

Oh, and you guys should know that you don't need to worry about spoilers on the big HP sites. They avoid them like the plague and even hide the very minor ones.

I have another theory that I want to throw out. When Harry and the Weasley's got to Fred and George's joke shop, they are shown the back room where they are producing the Shield cloaks. They say that they aren't productive against the unforgivable curses but Fred and George are gifted wizards and they may have gotten them upgraded. Maybe, just maybe AD had one of these cloaks or something else that helped him when Snape preformed the curse against him. Hopeful thinking on my part but just maybe there is alittle hope!!!

Ok, so I'm an Uber HP nerd and had a question. In hbp when they are in potions class, hermione starts to say what the love potions smell like to her. She doesn't finish but I think it's pretty obvious what she was going to say, but what do you think Ron would say he smells?

I don't think so because #1) nothing blocks Avade Kedavra and #2) even if the shield charm could block it, it would have rebounded for everyone to see...



Okay... anyone else think that the Dementors being soul suckers will come into play after what we heard about LV splitting his soul?

OK, checking in with a couple thoughts.

1: Final Horcrux. Something within/tied to Hogwarts and very special to Voldemort. How about Tom Riddles trophy for Special Service to the School? Remember, it's the one Ron had to clean for detention and kept burping up slugs on. Haven't gone back through the books to have another look at this so correct me if it's gone missing/been destroyed.

2. Anybody else reckon Harry's patronus will change from stag to a phoenix? I bet that would be a mighty powerful patronus. With all the dementors floating about he'll surely need to use it in book 7, and imagine the emotional lift he'd get from seeing that. (followed by mixed emotions at the loss of his father's patronus).

3. I'm in the "Snape is Good" camp still.

4. Neither Dumbledore nor Sirius will return from the dead, although they may somehow be able to communicate with Harry. Perhaps Sirius still has one of those mirrors with him from OotP. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

5. I think we can expect to see big things (pun intended) from Grawp in book 7.

6. What is up with Percy, anyway. This is the thing that I can least figure out, but I bet it turns out to be HUGE.

So many possibilities...

If the Final Horcrux is at Hogwarts, it will have to be something in plain sight that is noted casually. I think that the trophy could very well be it.

I think Percy is a reflection of a family story JKR saw (This is a guess with no backup) kind of like Nevilles parents being based on an alzheimer patient. He will probably come through in the end, when all of the details get tied up.

What would you think about DD's replacement. we all assume it will be MM, but the board of governors has to choose.....What if they made Slughorn or Hagrid the new headmaster...maybe even Umbridge (she has the experience , or even Fudge!

I hope you mean Hagrid get Harry a phoenix rather than Hagrid get Harry a patronus, lol. The Lexicon (via FB) says this about the phoenix:

the XXXX rating given to this gentle creature does not indicate ferocity, but rather the rarity of successful attempts to domesticate it

But, I suppose if anyone can do it, it's Hagrid. Harry doesn't nec. need another pet. But I think Fawkes comes back into play because of the wand cares connection.

wow amazing thread everyone...
this book was amazing and at first i thought dumbledore was a horcruex (did i spell that right??) because he drank the potion and told harry that harry's blood was worth more that his ( his meaning dumbledore's)
any thoughts i miay be way off base

book 7 will be bittersweet exciting to read then so so so sad when it's over!
