Harry Potter Complete Book Spoiler Thread

I finally finished reading. I haven't read this thread yet, I am going to go back and do that now. I just have to say OMG, what a book. I can't believe Snape killed Dumbledore and that Snape was the HBP! He was so not on my list of HBP suspects. Also, I was so excited that Harry and Ginny finally got together and it broke my heart that he ended it. I know why he did, but it was so sad. I have hope for them though.

I don't know how I am going to be patient waiting for book seven.

Also, who does everyone think HAB is that wrote the note? I am going to rack my brain trying to figure that one out. There has to be a clue somewhere in the book. I am going to re-read it again anyway so I will pay more attention.

Ok, I'm off to read the rest of this thread now. I'm just so glad I can finally join in.

They really didn't seem like they needed any convincing.

Oh well, that's just my theory. Guess we'll have to wait for book 7 to come out! Can we wait that long?

Well I finished the book today. I am still in shock...I will post more later

I have been reading all the posts and decided to put my $.02 in. Here goes:
As said MANY times before, there is more to DD death than meets the eye.
The thing with Snape (good or bad), I feel he was acting on DD orders not on Voldermort's(gasp)
I really liked how the group grew up this book, they were typical teenagers!

My favorite line was when Ginny and Harry got together and they were in the common room just sitting around talking and reading the Daily Prophet,
and Ginny says " Three dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it's true you've got a Hippogriff tattooed across your chest."
"I told her it's a Hungarian Horntail, much more macho"
Lines like that made this book for me!
Well, 2 more years, what else do we have to do :rolleyes1 , oh yeah plan our Disney Trips! :goodvibes

Finished HBP at 12:30 this AM, just finished reading this entire thread. Bravo to JKR, and bravo to all who have posted here. Wonderful theories, observations and speculations.

Loved this book. What struck me most is that there are no MINOR characters in this intricate tapestry that JKR has woven. Events, bits of dialog and characters that seem somewhat insignificant or simply amusing keep coming back to figure in the story.

I have 100% faith that JKR will deliver a worthy book 7. I also suspect that she will not be able to resist writing more of the story beyond book 7, even if she doesn't know it now.

Ok, it took me 4 hours to read this whole thread (I had to do some work in between ;) ).

Some great theories floating around here. I never thought of Regulas. I forgot about him. I think maybe he took Kreacher with him, drank the stuff and took the locket. He ordered Kreacher to destroy it since he was too weak from drinking the substance, but Kreacher didn't destroy it, he hid it in 12 Grimmauld Place. Now Harry has to find it. It could be anywhere if Mundungus got hold of it.

I don't think that Harry could be a Horcrux b/c Dumbledore said that the first 6 have to be destroyed before Voldemort could be killed, which would mean that Harry would have to die in order for the Horcrux to be destroyed.

I definitely think DD is dead, but will help Harry from beyond as his parents did in GoF. I think that it will be either Harry and Draco together that defeat Voldemort or Neville will be the one to do it. I can't decide :confused3 I also think that Harry & Ginny will end up together again. She will definitely be around to help him, along with Ron, Hermione, Neville and Luna. I also thought Tonks & Lupin were so cute. I never saw that coming :goodvibes

I don't know what to think about Snape. I do know that through all of the books, even when Snape was horrible to Harry, there was something about him that I liked. Could be that Alan Rickman played him in the movies, but I read the books before I saw the movies and felt the same way so :confused3

All I know is book 7 is going to have to be about 1,000 pages long.

Yet another believer in the DD isn't really dead theory. I believe that he and Snape set it all up. That would be what they were arguing about. Not only does this save Draco, it 'lulls' Voldemort into a 'false sense of security' for lack of a better phrase. All the attention given to those 'soundless spells' has to mean something. I think that as he 'killed' DD, Snape altered his spell, in his mind. Goes along with the whole discussion with Draco about being able to make his death seem real and being able to hide him etc.

I also thought the mention of Harry thinking he saw a phoenix rising into the blue was telling. And whoever had the 'cocoon' comment, I had the same one as I read. Can't help but wonder. And DD's portrait would have to hang in his old office in order for people to believe he had, in fact, died.

Does anyone know off-hand what Regulas' middle name was? I like him as a possibility for RAB though. And I had missed the whole locket at 12 Grimald Place. Memory is going. Must be time to start rereading, yet again.

And ds and I just had the whole 'Harry is one of the Horcruxes' discussion this morning. I also thougth that Harry would have to die if he were one, based on what DD said to him. But ds disagrees with me. Says there could be a spell out there that would negate that argument.

Thanks for some interesting thoughts here. Guess I'll go back to the beginning and start rereading again....see what else I've missed based on what I just read in HBP.

Finished the book yesterday. wow I cried when AD "died". I'm another one that doesn't believe that AD is dead.

Can't wait for the next book. :hyper:

JKR has said in interviews before that death is permanent. She doesn't want to give children the illusion that their dead loved ones can "come back." Sorry, but I can't see her faking DD's death. Remember... DD wasn't afraid.
"After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." (PS/SS)

I think Snape made a promise to DD just like he had Harry make and did what he did to protect Harry and Malfoy, it wont surprise me to see Snape save Harry somehow in the next book.

I feel the same way, especially since Harry is not going back for year 7. Thus book 7 will be not at Hogwarts studying and could thus lead into book 8.

Just got my Entertainment Weekly in the mail...Potter Mania is the cover, 7 pages of story & pix inside.

i was so mad when snape killed dumbledor(keep in mind i finished the book at three this morning) :sad2: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Would you rather have had your own Tom Felton, Malfoy, kill him? ;)

no actually. he is a bad bad bad boy. but atleast he will still be in the movies and i could still look at his very bad bt gorgeous face .... :lovestruc

From the interviews I have read, she is not planning on doing any other books in the series. Book 7 will be it. She has said it numerous times.

Here is a link to a great interview i have found...not sure if it was posted..

Part One

Part 2

Part 3 has yet to be posted...there are some good interviews there from her. But read those 2. I am awaiting part 3.

I just finished reading the book last night. I was not at all surprised about Dumbledore's death..and I do believe he is dead. I wasn't expecting Snape to be the HBP. I haven't read all the posts in this long thread, so I have no idea if it has been suggested, but I have to wonder if Snape killed Dumbledore because he was supposed to. I realize Dumbledore told Harry even he himself makes mistakes, BUT he was very adamant about trusting Severus. Yes, DD was pleading with him, but maybe he was pleading for him to kill him...I have no doubt that JKR will put some good twists in the final book about this. I think there is SO much more to Snape than we know. I too despise him, but as another poster mentioned...I also liked him at times. In the movies you actually see something good in him that you don't pick up form the books. Though again, this could be due to Alan Rickman's portrayal of him.
I'm looking so forward to the twists and turns the next book will give us. Can't wait!

Yeah, we've discussed it a little. Emerson has said that they're waiting on permission and that part 3 should be posted this evening.

I think he might become a ghost.

Only the wizards who are afraid of death become ghosts.
