Hi - I'm Kim's daughter, Kelley, and I'm in a word... desperate to discuss the contents of this book (because I'm a hopeless nerd.) I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who cried.
I did cry, not because I was truly surprised but because there seems to be such finality in book 6.
So Snape - is he really a bad guy? or is he part of the plan? How could Dumbledore know about Draco's mission and not know about the "Unbreakable Vow?"
I could really go either way with this. On one hand JKR has already said he would redeem himself. But, how impossible is that going to be now that he has killed dumbledore? Here is what I think......
Snape did not truly know the nature of Draco's mission. He was bluffing. By making the Unbreakable Vow magically he could only be held to what he knew at the time of making the vow which was nothing. Therefore, as the plot unfolded he could appear to go along with it without really having to. This could be why dumbledore's death was so unusual and perhaps in some way faked. I think that perhaps if it was faked that dumbledore will go into hiding so that Harry will carry forth on his own, which must happen anyways.
Also, slightly disappointed though I was at the fact Ron and Hermione didn't finally have their epiphany and realize they are in love... I an avid H/G shipper was very happy to see Harry realize his feelings for Ginny. No more of that dern Cho Chang...
Totally agree here. The Ron/Hermione thing is a bit frustrating but it is coming and I think will come into play at a point where Ron becomes the Hero and has to save Hermione. This is only my romantic brain at work here and because Ron deserves that boost to himself.
Is Harry going to find more about his Parents? While it's does not appear relevant to the battle with Voldemort anymore, won't he still want to know? I was a little disappointed at the lack of background about his parents in HBP. Also, Harry has never been to Godric's Hollow before, so I'm thinking he might find a lot of answers...
Though when they do go to Godric's Hollow - will it really only be Hermione and Ron with him? Because last time Ginny, Neville and Luna insisted on going.
This one, I'm stumped, there is still much to be gained with knowledge of his parents and I think more will be revealed. I do not think that anyone but Hermione and Ron will go because that is how it started, just the three of them. I think if we do see more involvement particularly from Neville it may be leading us places I don't really think this is going, but hey, I'm always up for surpises!
Also the Horcruxes, the cup, the necklace, the book (destroyed), the ring(destroyed), the snake, whatever the ravenclaw heirloom is, and then the mystery Horcrux...
I kind of see this book as the last in the original series. What with the end of Hogwarts as it's always been and Harry Ron and Hermione not returning. I think I might see the potential for a book dedicated to finding each of the Horcruxes. I know she vowed only to do 7 books, but we can always hope, right?
yeah lots and lots of stuff to think about.
