Harry Potter Complete Book Spoiler Thread

This book is the most deep one yet. I agree w/ Stinkerbelle...it was the best yet, IMHO! I cried...a lot....gasped...much more.

HOW COULD THEY LET SNAPE GET AWAY WITH THAT? Teaching -that class-, killing -that person-! That just frosts my bacon!! (aka very very steamed at him)

Did Dumbledore really know what he was doing?

I don't think they would have mentioned the cup if it wouldn't have been a horcrux. I hope the whole gang goes with him to GH.

Plus also I didn't think Harry and Ginny would hook up...Ginny has helped in (or been part of) most of what Harry has battled. Keeping her out is a mistake.

And what do we think about Bill (even after the bites) and Fleur/Phlegm?

I'm also quite curious to find out WHAT Snape did to gain Dumbledores trust. All along Ron/Harry have been doubting Snape - but Hermione always said "Dumbledore trusts Snape - you should too"

I'm sorry - my FAVORITE line in the entire book. Page 578, Ch 26:

"I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you."

this totally made me choke up.

sorry for my multi-posts...I'm just brimming with thoughts now that I've finished it. (ok - 9 hours, not 10, to read...I took a few "eye breaks" heheh)

ITA, Stinkerbelle...that line made me CRY. Seriously. We were on our way home from Walmart and I read it and burst in to tears...in my life whenever someone says that it means BAD NEWS.

Maybe we'll find out in the next book. Maybe Snape saved Dumbledore (has anyone also noticed that both sets of REAL Dumblydores are dead?)as a child or something...Snape's a liar who "repented".

And also could Malfoy have had the dark mark in the robe shop?

And what was it with everyone crushing on Harry? Fame, Quidditch, or his looks? I could seriously imagine Daniel Radcliffe going through the book with me...in my dreams! :cloud9:

Stinkerbelle: Don't be sorry!

JKR: Please finish!!!

Did Dumbledore really know what he was doing?

He had to have, IMHO. Do you remember when Dumbledore was discussing the Def. against Dark Arts position and inferred that Voldemort must have magically cursed it when he was turned down for the 2nd time -- ie nobody lasts for more than a year... Dumbledore had to have known that by giving him the job, something was going to happen with Snape. Why oh why oh why does Dumbledore never tell anybody why it is that he trusts Snape completely?

OMG - my head is just spinning. There is so much in this book. I'm going to have to read this thing again to fully ponder it all, but I'm just too tired tonight to start it over.

Yeah, and if Harry thinks the thought of a little danger is gonna keep Ginny Weasley away from her boyfriend...... oh well, Hermione will explain it to him eventually.

Toby'sfriend: you have a MAJOR point...::yes:: Maybe JK will tell us in the next book, hopefully. So many questions, so few answers, ONE MORE BOOK!

Every guy should have a couple girls with their heads glued on straight on their Adventure Packing List!

OMG - GREAT thought! (Even harry said - no worries, he'll be out in a year) But why NOW...why give Snape the DA position NOW? Because this second war had started? Because Voldemort was back? (he was back LAST year...)

Oh - I'm totally re-reading this. but no more today...I need to watch tv...or shower...or something. heheheh

So - going back to my first thoughts - what is your take on the word "slut" in a children's book? how do you explain that to your child?

Page 365 ch 17:

Morfin was working himself into a rage again; he brandished his kinif and shouted "Dishonored us she did, that little slut! And who're you, coming here and asking questions about all that? It's over, innit...It's over..."

that really shocked me...

Lol. You know, yall suck. I don't have the book yet because it hasn't arrived. This thread is like a massive tease. Yall are worse than the media at giving JUST enough information to make you look but not actually giving anything away.

*throttles* Evil evil. Mean mean.

would you mind changing the title to "entire book spoilers"? just so we don't ruin it for others?

Well, my 7 y/o is enthralled by the series and is expecting me to read HBP to him when he comes home from his dad's. I can deal with one word ("that's another one of those really mean words that people sometimes call each other when they want to hurt their feelings" - he'll be fine with that), but I'm very concerned about the entire tone of the book and the manner of Dumbledore's death, planned by Malfoy and ultimately carried out in a foul betrayal by someone who my son finds unpleasant but certainly not so evil. There's no way I can put off reading it until DS's older, so I sense there will be a major discussion beforehand and after the reading.

Changed :guilty: Now I know what happens

um - sorry?
you posted a "spoiler" thread...what did you expect?

thanks for changing the title though

There are so many other disturbing things goingon in the book - the use of the word "slut" hardly registered with me.

I read the book in one sitting, and I literally sobbed when Dumbledore was killed. There are tearsplottches on the page and everything. I knew, from the chapter titles, that it would happen, but I was still devastated.

I hat when something like this happens in a book that I love. It taints my whole reading experience - I'll never be able to read the other five books without knowing that this is coming at the end.

As for Snape - I think he is on his own side. He looks out for himself alone, siding with whomever is best poised to give him protection - much like Wormtail, but Snape would never admit that they are alike.

The whole pace of the book was so rushed - I think that Dumbledor had known for some time that he was running out of time - he needed to show Harry as much as he could very quickly. Apparently Dumbledore feels that Harry knows enough now to take on Voldemort, but I wonder - in terms of wizarding skills alone, he is no match for Voldemort or Snape. Harry wins out in the pluck, ingenuity, and bravery - but he has always had help, and the spectre of Dumbldore behind him. With Dumbledore gone, Voldemort is going to be feeling invincible!

I really hope book 7 brings some closure - this book certainly didn't, for me.

honestly - I have questions and stuff - but I feel the series could end now.

I mean - Harry doesn't even want to go back to Hogwarts...so really, there's no "year 7" for him.

his Year 7 will be finding the Horcruxes and finishing Voldemort...with Hermione and Ron...Ginny too I bet.

But one has to think...if JKR finished off the greatest wizard in the wizarding world in book 6...who's to say that good will actually triumph in the end?

I suspect I'm grasping at straws here, but here goes...

... I can't wrap my mind around the fact that Dumbledore said he knew about Draco's plot, knew that Snape had sworn to help Draco, and yet seemed to allow it all to happen anyway. Therefore, I wonder if there might be another charm at foot, some variation of the old magic invoked by Lily way back when, that will make Dumbledore's death have a positive purpose. Either that, or Dumbledore was simply too trusting - I don't like the image of the world's greatest wizard as a fool, so I'll keep hoping that the straws I'm clutching are actually able to bear weight.
