I'm hearing about the switch to a whole wheat bun on the burgers at the CS places and that it's A) not very good and B) it falls apart easily. Anyone know if you can request a different bun? It looks like there are other sandwiches on the menus (like a chicken sandwich for instance) that has a white bun. Will they make a burger for you on a white bun anywhere?

The only request you can make is for a gluten-free bun. Which will probably not taste any better.

I'm hoping they bring in some other options for the burger buns. My DH has a whole-wheat allergy, but absolutely can't stand gluten-free bread so if they don't provide another option it will be an interesting trip next year. :scared1:

I had a wheat bun for the first time on this last trip. I don't care for any kind of wheat bread, but honestly this wasn't bad at all. I didn't have problems with it falling apart as others have posted.

He might actually have to bring his own bread. They do provide an alternative for allergies, which is the gluten free bun. If he doesn't want that, I'm not sure they will have another alternative at any specific CS restaurant.

1) Specialty sandwiches still have bread.
2) Example: Meatball sandwich at Electric Umbrella on folded bread bun.

I normally eat whole wheat breads instead of white breads so I didn't have an issue with the bun itself, but I was underwhelmed with the CS burgers in general as I'm a huge cheeseburger nut. For my next trip I'm going to avoid CS burgers as much as possible - there are so many better options.

One other point I think they call it a whole grain bun not a whole wheat bun. So even buns that look like "white bread" are still these all grain buns.

It doesn't have the normal texture that a true whole wheat bun has, but it is a bit drier and does fall apart especially on something like a pulled pork sandwich.
