Half Marathon - Train with me for Jan '11 - ...Shock - an update! 4/06! new pix

Hey all....
Leisa You are going to start running too? Marathons are in your future?

Hardly likely, as I, putting it mildly, hate running, or jogging. But, wine and dine certainly makes me at least want to entertain the idea. :lmao:

Alright. My ticker is actually set for the day that I arrive at Disney - which is Friday before the race. So, we have 2 months and 4 days until you guys are running the 1/2 marathon and 2 months and 5 days until I'm running the full.

... just wanted to be certain that we're all aware of the days.

Now we can all go:

:scared1:

Were you running by my house?????:goodvibes:rotfl2:

ummm... I said that I ran 6 1/2 miles, not 1900 miles! :lmao: But, should I ever decided to do an extremely long training run and make it up your way;
I'll be certain to run past your house and then make the above post again. ;)

Hey guys. Sorry for the cryptic "my thread vanished" message.

I started a thread on the Restaurants board to see if I could help from the DIS to find available ADR's for wish families. My thinking was that as we are on there searching for ours we could take a peek and see if we could find a hard to get one for a wish family. For example - I needed one on Dec 9th for a family at CRT.

I didn't want the DISer to actually reserve it...I just wanted them to PM me if they saw it (I would turn around and PM the Mom). I didn't provide enough information for another person to actually make the ressie anyway. (They would need name, phone number - heck - even a credit card! :scared1:)

Anyway...it was misunderstood. Somewhere in the process someone thought I wanted the DISers to actually make the reservations for the families - which would be against DISboard policy. And against Disney policy, I would imagine.

Anyway...it got pulled. (Not locked - it disappeard.) But that is ok. A few people saw it and are going to help look for this particular family (and they are the only family I know of right now that doesn't have their main ressie.)

So...no major story there. :thumbsup2 I am not in trouble with the DIS.

It was interesting how fast the "nice" thread got removed and that that mean one from last week stayed till it died. But, oh well.

maroo: I've been meaning to ask: are you still doing the half-marathon at Disney? I never heard how that ended.

AAAAAaaaaaack GRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am not a math major - (I married one tho!! :thumbsup2)

So today's couch potato moment - Oprah Winfrey "Outside the Box" Here are women that proclaim to be paralyzed by fear (I say paralyzed, because I know what that means - and these women were AWESOME!!) Then I head over to Rachel Ray - and there is Valerie Bertinelli - I cant get away....

On to the Dis - OK FINE _ _ I'll run - wog - walk dagnabbit!

So I leave at 11:53 and return at 12:46 How long was I gone for?

Then I go on http://www.trails.com/googlemap.aspx because I cant have a pedometer - so I click and move and click and get a mileage of 3.66

What was my time???

:scared1:

There is no way on God's Green Earth I am doing 14.46 min miles people!

I ran Saturday 5 miles at app 18 min miles by my math!! I am seriously messed up!!

Maroo God Bless Your Heart!! You are so trying so very hard to make the MAW families have the Best Trip EVER - and there are dis'ers that just dont get it - please dont give up - if you truly want help with CRT I will email you a very small board of CRT Angels that will also help with calls - just tell them I sent you - its a private board - but they welcome people with hearts! Never a negative post!!

Lisa You are plugging along - how are you feeling? What's going on in your real life? Are people behaving? Are you getting time for YOU?! Stay the course my friend!! Stay the course!

Dolce Are you feeling safe? I am still watching Judge Judy - and I still think you have a safety clause - dont pay any extra money to move!
AND :worship: Thank you, and Bless YOU for your spirit - you are really, truly inspiring me to keep putting one foot in front of the other!! Thank you!!

 Liesa, Cynthia, Tim Thanks for hanging out - and being the Cheer Squad :cheer2: It means something to this "dork"!! I think a few others have posted but were scared off! :scared1:

It probably has something to do with I talk too much!! I really thought I lost everyone after I posted pictures!!

I go to

Aw...don't hate on the DIS too much. :)

I think they just have to keep the peace. :confused3

Which has to be hard around here. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Feel free to email me the CRT Angels, though. I think I need to get in touch with those folks! :thumbsup2

The last two times this has happened, it has been CRT that was the issue. The rest we have been able to get if checked back really often.

Hey guys! Just wanted to quickly report that I got two miles under my belt tonight! So that is two out of my three walks scheduled for this week. Woo hoo!

:woohoo: WTG MAROOOoo :cheer2:

one foot in front of the other!!

I've been on the wish event/comp board - just trying to settle nerves and such...

and I forgot -

good thing Dolce's got my back!!

so I'm at week 5?
5 - - 3 - Rest - 5 --- ---3 - Rest - 10 - Rest -21
week/M/ ... T/ .....W/ ..Th/.... F/.SAT!/ Sun/total for week/

g to do

(how many weeks before the marathon? 62 days.... 7 days in a week = 9ish? I may just repeat week 3!! )

Really? 10?? SO SOON???

9 weeks starting next week, right? I keep posting this: :scared1: all over this thread but so far you all seem to not understand why I keep posting this: :scared1:

.... so, I'll just post it some more:
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I'm on a "rest" day today and tomorrow. Since I did the 1/2 marathon on Sun, I skipped my Monday weekly run and I bumped up my normal W/Thurs b2b to a Tues/W b2b. I ran 4 miles on Tues and 6 miles yesterday. Saturday I run 13 miles... and hopefully I get to run it this time. My biggest disappointment about last Sunday's race was that I didn't run the entire thing. I pray that this Saturday I can run the entire thing and prove to myself that I'm capable of doing so.

You can.

You will.

I have faith in you

Maroo... WTG on your 2 miles!!!!!:dance3:

Sandy... 9 weeks to go... 9 weeks of training. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

Dolce..... Good luck on Saturday. You will run great!!!:yay:

Breathe in the pretty colors, breathe out the bad.

Just breathe!

And then go RUN!

I think 9 weeks to go would scare the pants off me! But you all are so faithful and doing so well!!

maroo- keep up the fantastic work you do for the wishers! They need someone like you to help them out; Lord knows they have precious little time to track down stuff liek this on their own!

Sandy, I"m glad I can be here with you through this! I think a lot of people "join" a thread only to leave it after a short time. I'm try to be pretty careful to make a commitment to be there for the long haul if I join one. That's why I can only be "part of" about 10-15 at a time- otherwise, I can't keep track of them, and start to make stupid comments, or call people the wrong name, etc... (CRAFT... and all that):lmao:

eeyor/Lisa Hope all is going well with you!! You are right on target for your training!

I remember posting in December on the WISH board about weekly totals- and my time - I was assured that I was going to finish (as long as I didnt stop for pictures - which of course I did....)

Dolce You posting your timeline and me posting my days left - all come from the same thing...

and I'm going to say between the 2 of us - we make a great team!! I am way too relaxed - and you are way too focused (well from *my POV!! *g) Just make sure that you enjoy the journey!! I want you to complete your goals, you KNOW you can and will run the whole race - and you know there is no disrespect if you "slow" down for one reason or another! (know that your walk is faster than my wog! In the end we push ourselves as hard as we can! period!)

but - when you get to Disney - somewhere along the way you (collective "you" as in me too!) have to decide to enjoy, or go for a personal best time! Either goal - enjoy the journey that gets us there!! :goodvibes

Liesa then at times "real life" gets in the way (water, sewer lines, sewing... kids... dinner... driving tickets :rolleyes1)

Cynthia thanks - and I'm going to go back and take that nerd test~ I know I'm not that nerdy!! :rolleyes1

Tim :cheer2: You make a great cheerleader!! Thanks - I havent been over to the Trip Report thread - I'll make it - I think dh is going to confiscate the laptop

Maroo Keep on Keepin ON!!

It looks like dd is going to switch to Bassoon (from sax) I emailed the HS Band director for a "tutor" - earlier this school year she wanted to switch to choir!! (nothing wrong with that- except she cant sing on key!)

Finally - I'm going to work today!! The weather is supposed to get up to the SIXTIES :woohoo::yay::woohoo:

That cracks me up! That was the reason that I did band (alto sax and flute) in jr. high and high school. I can't sing on key to save my life!

Sandy, I do think we make a great team – I think all of us running (maroo, eyor, you & me) make a great team and there are some excellent cheerleaders on this thread that are so encouraging! I do know that I’m hard on myself – I’m always hard on myself – and yes, I’m trying to be focused. I want to be ready for those 26.2 miles. I’ve read one too many TR's of someone doing the Disney marathon, not being fully prepared and then spending 6 – 7 hours of  out on that marathon course! I don’t want that to be me!

I’ve been thinking a lot about how I’m going to do this marathon. I think that I’m going to walk the water stations. From the experience of the half marathon this past Sunday, I learned how congested those are! I know one Galloway plan calls for runners to walk the water stations and so, I’m going to do that. If I walk the stations I think that I’ll (for sure) have it in me to run out the rest of the mile. So, that’s my current game plan.

Uh-oh you guys. Don't make me a thread killer! I'm often a thread killer. :headache:

I just posted the recount of my half marathon from last Sunday on the Donald thread on the WISH events board. I thought that'd be a good place to put it in order to give advice. I think that there's some new runners on the Donald thread (or am I wrong?) and on the race report threads, pretty much all of them are experienced runners that know better than to make the mistake that I made.

I did my 13 miles this morning. I won't lie: It was a tough run. I think most of the toughness was mental but a little bit of it was physical as well. I have decided one thing:

The best thing about running: Is getting to brag about how many miles you did after you stopped. ;)

I sure the heck don't have any fun while running for that long. :sad2:

I tried two things this morning: working hard to start off at a slower pace since I'm now moving up into higher milage. I need to conserve energy. I also allowed myself a brief (5 second or less) walk break at the mile markers while I took my water and Cliff Shots. The amount of people at my race last Sunday were only a fraction of what I'll have to deal with at Disney. Those water stations were crazy enough so I expect Disney to be worse so I think I'll just walk those stations. It'll give me a much needed break and I won't have to worry as much about tripping over people. So, I attempted to practice that this morning. Do you know how tough that was for my stubborn self to walk a few seconds going into each mile??? But, then, as the miles began to climb I really began looking forward to that next mile marker to take that 5 second walk.

I'm just hoping that this morning was a bad run. I've been eating crap again lately and am now working to get back into a healthier habit. (It's all that vacation's fault!! I haven't been able to get back on track since coming back from that vacation!!!) But, seriously, healthy eating will help improve my running so today -not tomorrow- today, junk is back out and healthy eating is back in.

Oh, and I finished the 13 miles in 2 hours and 3 minutes. That broke down into a 9 minute 27 second mile. That was with me trying to slow down my pace a bit and taking quick walk breaks. I'm happy with this. If I can keep it up for all 26.2 miles, I'll finish the marathon around 4 hours and 8 minutes. I'll be very proud of that time if I'm able to accomplish it.

How is everyone else doing? Are you long runs today or tomorrow?

Dolce I think you did great you improved over the last effort and had more learning moments all of which is outstanding.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Everyone!!!!!!!
I'm here. Life has been incrediably busy this week. I did a Department Picnic at work for which I was in charge of the food.(just 100 people) so it wasn't too bad. But it kept me so busy at work I didn't have time to Dis during the day. Then at night I have been working eash evening getting ready for a yard sale today. (Did good, I made my goal.:yay:) The timekeeping program I use at work was on the fritz and that was a nightmare. I ended up going in Friday AM just to finish so everyone could get paid. I did try to get on the DIS one night and it was down for maintenance.:confused3 They just did maintenance a couple weeks ago. :confused3

I did walk 4 miles on Thursday, 2 with Roo and 2 without. I take her to the track with me sometimes and put her in the car when she gets tired. I couldn't keep my pace though. About at mile 3.75 I got into a good pace. I think I was too tired from doing the picnic that day.

I plan to walk in the morning, but am not sure what to shoot for. Guess I'll just plan for 6 maybe and see how it goes. I have to clean the dance studio so I can't get too tired.

Now, I have only skimmed the last couple of days, but :scared1: only 9 weeks!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1: I have got to get my act back together.

Maroo - way to go, keep on walking. you can do it.

Dolce - way to go on the run. You have really good time.

Sandy - thank you. Thank you for starting this thread and inviting us to join in. I really appreciate all of the support and encouragement.

I have got to figure out my schedule for the next two weeks. DD's birthday is this Friday and her party on Saturday. One smart thing I did was give in to her request to have her party at CEC. I have to sew the girls clothes for Disney and we leave in 13 days. I have about 6 outfits each planned which is one a day. I'm not that good either, but it is simple stuff. I plan to keep up with my walking schedule, or more to the point get back on track.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. We have had a beautiful week weather wise, but now a storm is in the Gulf,:scared1: or at least heading that way. It's November and the season is almost over and NOW a storm shows up. I am expecting a call from DSIL in NY reminding what happens each time I try to go to Disney. :sad2:

So, I was just sitting on the couch eating my cereal bar, getting ready to go out when I remembered this comment and had to log on.

So I leave at 11:53 and return at 12:46 How long was I gone for?

Yes Sandy, it is completely possible for you to have done 14.46 min miles. ::yes:: I have learned that on some days everything just clicks. You can get into pace, start thinking about other things and off you go without even realizing it. It is completely possible for you to have accomplished this. and I just wanted to say.......

:cheer2::cheer2:GO SANDY GO :cheer2::cheer2: GO SANDY GO:cheer2::cheer2:
