Half Marathon - Train with me for Jan '11 - ...Shock - an update! 4/06! new pix

60% chance of rain?!!!!! This really, really sucks.

Everyone go out and buy fancy rain gear. It's our only hope to keep the rain away.

Prayer works - BELIEVE!! :wizard:

:rotfl2: at you and dh in a twin bed.... :rolleyes1

Here's my mil (mean mil) story - we came home for Christmas - the kids stayed in sleeping bags in the living room (not the family room) SIL (3 years younger than dh btw!) got the room with the DOUBLE BED - we had to share the room with the 2 twin beds - AT CHRISTMAS!! DH and I shared one bed, needless to say... MIL was appalled - and yelled at DH - can you imagine? :rotfl2: BTW - no hanky panky - the room was next to his parents :rotfl2: but really - I like my dh - enough to marry him!! Forever!!

Now, he's really upset I wont sleep next to him - but with my hip and my paranoia (taper madness) He needs sleep - and I want him to sleep!!

Keep in mind 35 deg F in Florida will be a lot warmer than 35 deg here - simply due to the fact - THERE IS NO SNOW in FL!!! :rotfl2:

I took puppy out for a "run" and "walk" today! :woohoo: It felt good!!

and no worries about the Chiro - he's a friend of the family - I'm seeing him on Saturday - (because he's taking NYE and NYD off!! :rotfl2: altho he did say he'd do a housecall if I wanted!!) and on Sat he'd give me the exercises and stuff I can do -

I also think I'm taking Glucosomine - and using the liquid glucosomine (forgot I had that!) plus the Aleve - plus the chiro all is working together!!

dslvr your mom will be able to pick up the packet - but I really believe you have a great plan - checking luggage can be a nerve wracking thing, but you're taking your gear in your back pack - just let the Airline Attendant know your short connection time and ask if they mind you getting off first (sometimes they will announce it, sometimes not!)

First off weather:
I'm not too worried......yet. The forecast is several days away. In the South it always changes. Fronts can speed up or slow down. and 60% is better than 100%. I've seen days where it has been 70-80% chance and never rained. or it could be 60% for the afternoon. Like Sandy said, believe, pray and pray some more.

Dislvr - you will be okay in Atlanta. Are you on the same airline all the way through? If you are, then you will most likely be in the same concourse. You'll make it. Just may get to put some of that training to use a day early.:thumbsup2 Plus you are flying in the AM which is better cause they haven't had too much time to start hosing up the flights and delaying things.

Ahhhh to be young and twin beds. When I married the first time (18 and very young) we came back from the honeymoon and realized my parents do not have an extra bedroom and the only double bed in the house was their's. Yep, it was my old room and twin bed.

and speaking on inlaws houses. The first time DH took me to his parents, we had been married about six months. He told me our room was at the far end of the hall. I walk up the stairs and down the hall walked past his parent's room and had to stop and back up to look again. Yep. The head of their bed and the head of our bed shared the same wall. It was a looooong week. DFIL snores really LOUD.

I am feeling really super guilty right now. I was over at my friend's for New Year's Eve who is going with me next week. I have been really irritated cause she just sort of told me she was going with me. (was looking forward to my first solo trip). Well, they are DVC owners and one day her DH said he mis-counted their points and he had extra and would pay for our room. I'm not sure if he had extra points or just figured out what happened and was trying to make it up to me. Anyway I felt it was a very nice gesture but amprehensive that if she cancels, I'll be without a place to stay. (she is known for canceling business trips at the last minute) I decided a few days ago that I have to make the best of it and just have fun, it will be okay, we enjoy doing things together and I'll go solo another time.
Now guess what? For Christmas her DH purchased both of us the special package for before and after the race. With the food tent and all. I had dismissed it when I saw the price. I have literally been mourning the loss of my solo trip, plus worried cause I haven't been able to get E to walk on a regular basis and now her DH goes and does something super nice and special like this. I felt about 2 inches tall. Okay, confession over.

I didn't get to doing anything last night since Gram and DB were here for dinner. They stayed much later than Gram normally stays. Today I had to run errands after work and didn't have time to walk before I was expected for dinner. I plan to go to bed soon and try to sleep. I am not setting my alarm. When I get up, probably about 7:00am, I will go out. I'll take Roo for the first two miles, drop her back at the house and then try to do six more. Hopefully I will get to go out again on Sunday and then once more on Tuesday.

I hope everyone has an absolutely wonderful New Year's.

Sandy, glad to hear you are doing better (minus the sleeping on the sofa pain). I would love to have your chiro who makes house calls. Our chiro is way to cute, I don't think hubby would appreciate him coming to our house, lol.

I do NOT want to obsess about the weather. EVERY endurance race I've done it has rain. My first 10 mile (Broad Street Run in Philly), downpoured (did slow and stop for brief periods); first 1/2 marathon, (DE) it rained the entire time (slowed to a drizzy at times) but ugh!!! Then in October I was doing the Breast Cancer 3-day and we got not one but two nor-easters and rained out the first two days. Rained the beginning of the 3rd day. I was so hoping that I could run in Disney without rain! Praying too!

Patricia - Love that you are so involved! I am going by faith, and prayers - BELIEVE - I can visualize God taking a deep breath and moving the rain OUT and I can ask HIM and pray that He will hold the rain! He has gotten me this far!!

I just might have a picture of the Chiropractor! He is DS#1 friend and was at his wedding - He looks very very young! He actually looks like Opey Taylor!! :rotfl: (he gets that all the time! He is short, skinny, red hair... and he says "trust me" :rotfl2: OK but I'm like 100# heavier than he is surely!!) Just checked he's not in the pictures I've uploaded!!

OK...

so we BELIEVE that God will answer our prayers - and there will be NO RAIN (PTL!) so what will I obsess over?

The Bed is a mess - the whole room is a mess, I cant start packing... so I guess I'll obsess over that! What happened to all the water bed stores btw? Sleep number beds are all well and good, but did they have to push out the water bed market? :confused3

I'm doing some weight lifting - I am worried my arms arent going to make it the 4 hours I'm going to be out there! and I put in a few squats - no pain!! :woohoo:

My puppy is SO CUTE!! DH has his laptop, so I went down to the basement, he jumped on my lap, he's spread over it, and fell asleep!! :cutie:

Off to surf....

The prayers and positive thoughts are working! The weather report is already better.

weather.com is showing H64/L45 with 10% chance of rain. I'll take that!

I need another miracle - How many miracles can you ask for? DH got a job (hasnt started, so that prayer is still being lifted up in prayer) My hip is much better (but I havent run the half yet, so that prayer is still being lifted) The weather... money... (always surely... but seriously Disney money)

AND NOW? :faint: DS just called from downtown Chicago the car is making bad noises... DH just went to go see if he can fix it good enough to get them home... safe... Please God another miracle, Please - thank you. Its very cold, its starting to get dark... please God keep them safe, keep them warm, give dh the tools to fix the car... thank you Lord for your miracles - keep them coming!!

Thanks for stopping in - YAY for NO RAIN for the Half and for the FUll!!
:worship:

Praise God from whom ALL Blessings flow...

...and now we are back to a 60% chance of rain. grrrrrr

Today was my oldest DD's birthday (she was born on 01/01/01-how cool is that!) and I celebrated by skipping my run. I can't believe I've been a mom for 9 years. I also can't believe I still have baby weight to lose, sigh.

After many hours of trying, I was able to sign up for Disney's give a day volunteer promotion. I'm going to make blankets for Project Linus. I try to make a couple of blankets every year anyway because we got one when my oldest was born and had to spend a week in NICU because of a hole in her lung.

I get to leave in a week! Yikes!

Sandy - was DH successful? did they make it home okay?

Dislvr - Happy Birthday to your DD. Did she have a wonderful day?

I walked 8.7 miles today. Since I don't have the IPOD, (DH decided he needed it more for the plane than I needed it for my training.) I just decided to do a leisurely pace. The music helps me stayed focused on my pace. For some reason I have been focusing on time instead of distance. Not sure when I made that switch, but have been getting very frustrated with myself. I did 15.2 minute miles and it was very comfortable. I could have kept going and have felt fine all day. My initial goal for this was to just finish and I finally got my head back where it belongs.

Yes, all are home (but the car!) - sorry I forgot I posted here!! I was really anxious!

The car, its probably a "valve" dh says it sounds like a hammer is hitting the engine! (sounds bad) so its in the city, dh isnt sure what will happen... very depressing.

I go to the chiro in an hour! Slept on the couch - so not good.

Dslvr Happy Birthing Day!! That is a cool date! Thanks for posting about Project Linus, DD and I do this once a month - I'll have to try and sign up before all the spots are gone!!

eeyor/Lisa Thanks for posting your experience. So without the ipod did you make the time - not the distance? How did you feel at 15.2 mm (how did you figure it was 15.2?) I was at 15 min mile before I hurt my hip... Now I pray I will be in a good corral - at the front of that corral, (so I will have a 20 min lead) and keep a 16 min mile - but I know by mile 6 or 7 I will slow down and slow down to eventually I'll hit 20 min miles - I only hope that happens at mile 10 or 11 and I have that 20 minute padding...

not that I'm obsessing!

Hi Sandy!

Just here to say hi! I think you'll be meeting maroo in just a few days, right!!?? How exciting!

How are you feeling?

Woo Hoo guys! It is getting close!

I am glad your DH is ok, Sandy...that sounds scary! I hope you get your car back and are able to fix it. :)

We DO meet in about a week!!! Almost exactly! If we have not seen each other yesterday.

I was able to do 6.5 miles yesterday in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I was glad that we (Lisa and I) actually kept walking for that long...almost half way there! And my pace was not horrible! Still need to get faster to have a cushion for race day (in March)!

Can't wait to meet you guys!!

This time next week we'll all be at Disney. You guys will be finishing up the 1/2 marathon and I'll be hanging out at EPCOT.

... and I STILL don't have my Magical Express packet!!

I guess that I'll place a 5th call to Disney today. They dropped the ball on this one.

eyor: that's GREAT that you got in 8 miles at a 15 mm leisurely pace - which means that you'll be able to pick it up to a faster pace next Sat with no problems! :woohoo: I ran 8 miles this morning. I'll run 3 on Mon and then 3 on Wed and then that is it. No more running until race day next Sunday!

Sandy: my thoughts are still with you and your hip. I've had lots of prayers going for your hip and my leg. We're both going to make it to those finish lines, even if we have to hobble to get there - we just have to believe it.

And, you guys, no stressing about the rain. It says 60 something % chance.. but that doesn't mean that any rain will happen during the race. Maybe it just means that there will be a small afternoon shower that day ... well after the 1/2 marathon is over.

Oh, and Sandy, to back up to an earlier comment that you threw at me and I hadn't yet addressed: 60's is too HOT for running weather! I ran in the mid 30's this morning and it was GREAT although I prefer low to mid 50's to run distance. Oh, and I don't run in shorts.

Nope, uh-uh. No shorts.

Even this past August, when it was 100 degree temps here in Texas, I was running in capris. I've actually found that it's my upper body and not my lower body that will regulate my body temp while running. On really cold days I'll see runners out in sweatshirts, gloves, hats .... and shorts. I'm opposite. I'll be out in running pants or tights and a short sleeved running shirt. So, that's how I'll be dressed next Sat: Running tights (with shorts over for decency), short sleeved running shirt and throw away zip up jacket to warm-up in.

Oh! Last thing: maroo is going to be at the dinner next Sat! That was what I was trying to find out a month ago, I thought that you weren't coming at all since you were no longer running the 1/2 with Team In Training. So, who is it all going to be? eyor, Sandy, maroo, me... anyone else?

Torture appt went well! DH swears I'm walking so much better (I no longer limp! lol) I mentioned my plantar fascia - and he worked on that! *duh I should've been talked into seeing him so much sooner! He has this specialized table, he straps my ankles in (I'm face down) he pushes down on my back while the table stretches me to the right, then left... then there is this down stretch the table does the work - its amazing!! everything else really hurt!!

Weather I find it easier to obsess about the weather, than to worry about my performance (or lack there of!)

Dolce you definately have been in my prayers! I cant imagine running in Texas! You have determination, and drive!! I wear shorts - and I'm sure if anyone looked at my legs - I'd scare them (vericose veins) but I dont have to look at them!! ;)

Lisa I know you will do so great in the moment - all the excitement of race day propels you forward - then you see the MK - and varroom another surge!!

Leisa Thank you for dropping by - and for all your good thoughts and wishes!!

Maroo you'll just have to hang out and join me around mile 7 :rotfl2: dont want you to be jealous or anything!! (j/k!!)

(not only is Maroo coming - SHE GOT AN UPGRADE!! :worship: from Pop to Port Orleans!)

I have no idea who is coming to Cape May!! I'll be there ! :goodvibes On Friday Pop at 4 - Saturday - by the portapotties  and Sunday - Mile 2 Water Stop - Monday 9am at Boardwalk Bakery is another big gathering - if anyone is up and about - join us - its nice and relaxed - all the war stories are swapped!! I have a reservation for 9 at Grand Floridian's High Tea - but no one confirmed, so I might have to let that one go (I'm on another message board where 5 families were also going to do a meet - now its just the one Happy Camper - Bless her Heart - she's basically coming to meet me!! I am so not worth it!! )

So today's lesson - Chiropractor's do good work! See them sooner than later!! My next appointment is Wed!!

Car Update: engine is shot. But the good news it didnt freeze up on the exressway - ds was able to get it to a safe place - and the Jiffy Lube people didnt tow it, and were really kind, gave dh lots of phone numbers of people but it needs a new engine... (150,000 miles) Scary. I just want to go to Disney - and I'm feeling so selfish. So "live in the moment"

If you've gotten to the end of this - and have time for another prayer - I appreciate it - God's Peace upon us - it was a year ago that DS something bad happened (probably a fall and a head injury) and he was in the hospital for 10 days - but made a miraculous recovery - its the reason we planned for this Disney trip... I just dont want him having any Post Traumatic Stress... the weather - its the same today as it was here a year ago... watching our car themometer 10 degrees, 7 degrees...

I talk too much!

I just re read page 1 > >

Motto: DLF>DNF>>DNS (Dead Last Finish is better than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start), WISH gave me the courage to start.

and there is a feather - like in the movie Dumbo - Dumbo holds onto a feather to have the courage to fly - I need that feather!!

I think I needed to be reminded of that!!

Going to find my feather!!

Maroo posted her plans - I should do the same!

Hopefully get room -
We-Go-Shop is shopping for us and arriving around 3:30!!

I just talked to Marge at WGS - and she is shopping at Publix for me! I'm ordering a special chocolate ganache cake!! $22 - I've ordered Disney cakes but now they are charging $90 for the same cake!!

We are hoping to head over to World of Sports to get our Bib and packets!! :cool1:

I have an adr for LeCellier for dinner!!

and maybe Illuminations before slumber time!!

Friday
World of Showcase IF not able to make it Thursday!
MK and a Mickey Bar - I have a feeling dh and I will need to do a practice lap at Boardwalk - to acclimate to the climate change!!
4:00 Pop Century - meet with WISH half
4:30 Pop Century WISH meet - scream team locations
5:30 back to resort - I'm hoping to figure out how to pick up our friend -she got bounced from Pop to All Sports/Music...
She's a bit nervous - it was supposed to be an internet meet - 5 - 6 families signed up - now its just her, and me! Us - she's on my adr list! I know she's having a tough time, her dh passed away earlier this year...
I'm hoping DD can hang out with Happy Camper while dh and I obsess about putting our stuff together for the race - take a nap and get up for the bus at 2AM!! (grab a pool towel before getting on the bus to sit on while I wait for the start!)
Follow the masses off the bus at Epcot - its a sight to behold to see all the crowds of people walking off the busses to the LIGHT...

Hand in my bag - walk thru to the Runners only area... sit with the WISH team...( use the portapotties a min of 4 times... eat my snack, drink some water, use portapotties)
walk to my corral - again, follow the masses to the front of the line...
sit on the towel and wait for the start to happen.
Stand when the fireworks start...
wait 15 min
more fireworks - might move 2 inches... 2inches 2 more inches
walk scootch forward...
*sigh
