Half Marathon - Train with me for Jan '11 - ...Shock - an update! 4/06! new pix

aw - I recognize that place!!

WTH is wrong now? Why are we falling apart so very close to race day?

Seriously?!

Dislvr - glad you have your ressies - I freaked out in 08 - one of the WISH team offered the couch in their room if we didnt have a ressie! :goodvibes

DH ran 10 miles yesterday and 20 today :faint: he was really shaky when he got home! very cold - but since he was sweating his body was confused!! He did say he liked the knox blox style thingys I love!

I slipped on black ice - and my hip is out of wack. I dont know if I can complete 18 min miles...

Drama is DIL younger sister - 16 years old - her mom is an abuser - she truly is a wack job ( TMI but trust me )k is now living with ds and dil - so we're helping her move - and supporting them, hugging as much as we can... as much as they let us!

Today ds 21 - his gf asked if dd and I would teach them how to make gingerbread houses!! so we made 4 houses (they are from Russia, and are Jewish - we had the best time!! they are way organic and healthy - just smelling the sugar mom wanted to lie down!! lol - it was a good time!)

Murphy's law, I guess. You poor thing!! I really do hope you can go, and do well- let's just pray all the more that you can do this!!

Join me in remberence of 2 great men. DH's grandfather - his birthday would've been today... 107, a true German, a nice gruff man (think UP)

and DH's father passed away 9 years ago today....(Irishman...)

so we are setting 'em up "Joe" a shot of Jamesons (or Drambui for those that like a sweeter shot - or Gran Marnier, it was dh's grandfather that introduced us to that orange liquor so many years ago!)

It is hard this time of year for so many - for each of us think "family" at this time of year... and so many have fond memories, and traditions.....

Hear us, and send us Peace...

"Cheers"

Sandy, thanks for that reminder to remember our family! they are such a heritage and gift!

Hear us, oh Lord!!

It is very hard this time of year. I’m sorry for your losses, Sandy, and cheers to their memory.

I want to say: I keep looking down at the ticker in my sig and going :scared1:
16 days until I arrive at Disney.
17 days until the 1/2 marathon.
18 days until the full marathon.

What’s the status?
Dslver – you’re walking. I understand about wanting to throw in some running intervals. I’m sure I’ll be trying to do the same, despite the pain, on race day. Walking just takes too darn long when you’ve run it before.
Sandy – what about you? You’ve had some rotten luck. Is the hip feeling better? Are you going to walk the half?

As for me- I’m running what I can and walking what I can’t. I’ll just have to wait until 2011 to run the full thing. I’m going in tonight and Saturday for some deep-tissue massages on my IT band. Hopefully it will help my injury.

Let the nightmares begin!

OMG :scared1:

I am taking the aleve - and it helps me walk without screaming in pain... but when I walk with the dog - I cant get very far till an extremely sharp pain hits me -

so I'm ignoring it for now!! but in the middle of the night, I get to the first mile marker, and I'm pulled from the course!

Have you seen the google map view of the course - its amazing!! SO COOL, so scary!

http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/info/detail2?name=MarathonMapDetailPage

5 waves for the half and 3 for the Marathon? Wow.
40 minutes from start of 1st and last wave. Leaders will almost finish the race before the last runner crosses the starting line

and just saw the medals for the race!!
Donald, Goofy, and Mickey!! :cool2:

DH needs his computer back!!

Keep on keeping on!!

Hello everyone.
Let me first apologize for being gone for so long. But I have been thinking of you all daily and missing being able to "talk" with you all. I let things get out of control and barely had a moment for myself at home and at work. I will go back tomorrow and catch up with everyone.

I have been walking but completely off schedule of where I want to be. Hopefully I have figured out yet another new schedule and am trying to be confident that I will still succeed in January. I did 6 miles this past Sunday and then again on Tuesday. The weather and all holiday related things have kept me from my regular schedule. Beginning Sunday I will be back on it hard, but not too hard.

DH is taking the kids to New York for a week on Monday and I am staying home. 1- I don't have the vacation time to go and 2 - I need to be able to concentrate on the race.

I do hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and was able to celebrate how you wish.

I promise I am back to stay.

OMG :scared1:

Today's nightmare (DO NOT LOL! :rotfl:)

So in my dream we are at this over and under pass with the highways, waiting for our time to start the race - dh and I have our bags with our stuff - so we give it to dd - who decides to go home :confused3 (dreams dont make sense!) DH goes to the line and starts his race...

then I realize dd has my shoes - I dont even have socks. and where is my compression shorts? :confused3 HOW can I do this?? OMG... Now it gets weird and some guy in a plane does a loop really close to the ground, and falls out of his plane! :rotfl2: BUT wait, it gets weirder - I keep looking for socks, and shorts, and I see all these first aid stations... now people are commenting "nice underwear" :confused3

come to find out my underwear is falling down and showing from my shorts! :rotfl2:

My hip is still extremely painful. I give up and will go to a chiropractor on Monday... I really believe I'll be able to make it thru to mile 6 (Magic Kingdom) but at this point I know I cant walk 16 min miles so I know there will be a sweeper in my future - and I truly dont want to think about that!

and we have to be in line at 4AM  that's so early! Bring ponchos (from the dollar stores) towels (from the resort pool area!!) and go to the Goodwill and get throwaway sweats (if it gets warm and muggy - you throw them on the side of the road, Disney picks them up and donates them!!)

Oh Sandy, I'm sorry you are in so much pain and am very relieved that you are going to get it looked at.

Sandy, sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I hope your visit to the chiropractor helps and maybe can get you through the race.

Sandy, is your hip feeling any better? Be sure to ask your chiropractor to check your psoas. Sometimes that can get really tight and cause hip problems. I've basically had every possible injury in my bad (left) leg and hip and have plenty of suggestions of things you can try!

My mom and I walked 12 miles today at her mall. 12 miles in a mall is not very exciting. :lmao: I'm pretty happy to start tapering now.

Mall walking - 12 miles!! :scared1:

(any stops for bargains?)

I'm so staying out of the malls - I'll spend money I dont have, and every dollar spent here, is a dollar I cant spend at Disney!!

The hip feels better when I think I'm heading to the doctor!! :rotfl2: Thanks for the suggestion! The only exercise I'm getting is taking the dog out!! BUT I'm mentally getting thru it!!

The Event/Comp WISH thread is picking up to offer suggestions etc... for instance...

weather - accuweather is predicting pretty darned cold for FL if you ask me - so go get some of those $1 stretch gloves, get some throwaway sweats (Goodwill, or WalMart Clearance rack!!) I have to figure this out -

Hey Sandy!

I hope your get to the bottom of your hip issue! You are almost to the single digit countdown. :cool1::cool1:

I hope you had a relaxing holiday(this is an oxymoron at my house LOL).

You are having some weird dreams. I do find them interesting. I have no idea what they mean though. :confused3:confused3

Good idea!! Pick up some throw away stuff for the walk/jog, then chuck them in lieu of something more fun/expensive at say, hmmm, The Emporium. Yeah, that's it, no wait, Mousegears is nice too! :lmao:

dislver: I agree with Sandy:

Mall walking - 12 miles!! :scared1:

Kuddos for getting it in! :thumbsup2

Sandy: I saw this part:

weather - accuweather is predicting pretty darned cold for FL if you ask me

and am  For some reason I can't pull up accuweather at work. What are they predicting the temp to be? Right now it's been waaay too hot in FL.

I’m happy that you feel that your hip is getting better – maybe some of it really was mental and you didn’t realize it? We all do that some times. I hope that the doctor will be able to fix the rest of it and then you’ll be :thumbsup2 for race day!

I’m not doing so great. My leg is pretty messed up. I am wearing a strap when I run, I’ve been to the massage therapist a few times for it – they can feel that it’s pretty bad. I’m icing it and taking Aleve. I bought one of the foam rollers but I haven’t tried it out yet. Last Sat I was able to run about 17 out of 20 miles on it. This past Sat I couldn’t do even 4 miles on it. I have no idea what to expect for race day. I’m pretty upset and stressed about it right now.

<< Oh! And why does my ticker say 10 days left?!?!? I'M NOT READY!!!

Dolce, I have such a love/hate relationship with my foam roller. It hurts like !@#$% when you hit the right spot, but it really does help.

My mom's mall is almost one mile around, so at least we didn't have to do too many laps. We got there very early and the stores were just starting to open when we finished. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I'm glad to be home with my treadmill and less snow. We only live 3 hours south of my parents, but it makes a big difference in the weather.

Accuweather is currently calling for a low of 40 and a high of 60 on Jan 9. I have a great collection of throw away clothes that I got at Goodwill. If you wear throw away pants, remember to cut some slits up the legs so that you can take them off without removing your shoes.

This will be my 7th half and I still have nightmares. They generally revolve around the airport or packing. I seem to know that I will be fine once the race starts, but I must worry about getting to the race. I am starting to question my decision to fly down the day before the half. I haven't left any room for travel problems!

I'm trying really really hard not to have a panic attack -

or break down sobbing!!

Breathe. In... Out.... In.2, 3, 4.... Out 2, 3, 4....

:scared1:

Glucosomine also helps!! Not that I can take those horse pills - you should start taking 2 now! till race day!

OK, I'm making a list... weird things to take... or dont forget list....

1. ME paper work, BCV Confirmation letter...
2. Race Waivers
3. Old ticket never used (I lost 2 out of these 3 tickets - but found out they number them sequentially and the computer will pull up we never used them :yay: I may have saved $150!! :woohoo:)
4. Throwaway Clothes
5. Gloves, headband (need my ears covered!!)

Dolce You are saying its hot in FL!! I am seeing 36 the night before, and since busses start running at 2 AM - that's the middle of the night for most people!!

WISH has the links for the Race Info! It includes the start corrals - Half has 23,500 people the Fulll 24,000 - - yet the full has a Blue and a Red start - the Half has just one chute FILLED WITH 500 less people :confused3

Havent seen a list of bib numbers and assigned corrals -

and now with the plane restrictions :confused3 WTH? Seriously? 1 carry on must be stored in above bin (not a carry on and a purse or a backpack!) carp...

oh and if its sunny 40 feels much warmer in the sun than in the cloudy or dark night...

Thought I'd share some pictures (I'm waiting for the Chiro to call :confused3 His office manager said he closes at 1pm!)
