Hi Team,

Eva~ Thanks for the report! I agree about the chefs cooking, the smell was a little overwhelming! Sorry that you got overheated!

Scott~ I'm sure you'll do well in the new office!

AFM~ The half marathon today kicked my butt. I finished in 2:09:59 with quite a bit of walking. Wine and Dine was 2:07:26. Lots of rolling hills, gravel surface, and lack of good preparation on my part, all combined for a struggle to finish. I'll try and do a race report within a few days as I am exhausted and have to be up at 2am to make it to check in at the aide station tomorrow morning in Chicago.
No word on any change in my 2nd cousin's condition.

Jennifer-Give a shout out to Mike at the 10-mile water station

Mike- Hope you get to meet Jennifer tomorrow.
Thanks for keeping us updated on your 2nd cousin.
We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear your race was not what you expected.
But I had to laugh at that comment– each race is different even the
same races different years. That’s part of the fun. Seriously you could
not have had to walk too much with only a :02:33 minutes difference.
The weather, how you feel, the terrains all have a huge impacts on race results.

I'm headed off to Paducah this morning and when I return my new life will be starting. I'm so excited to be getting out of this apartment and into my own house again. I'm no longer going to live alone and will have a life and traveling companion again.

I've earned this changed, I truly believe I have. I've saved every extra penny and keep my morals and standards high. I've worked very hard and prepared for this. Now I will see my work and preparation start paying off.

I can't wait to get back to being able to travel and share adventures with my new companion and my dear friends.

Thank you all for helping to keep me sane over this last year.:cloud9:

Hey guys,

Sorry to be MIA. I was sick and then I have had company, AGAIN! :rotfl: The kids were here yesterday with their half brother. That was interesting.

I have read all the posts you have all been busy and productive.

Mike - Congrats on the race.

Dave - Happy Birthday. Did you get to celebrate with Mary and Aiden?

Vicky - Happy birthay, how was the dinner?

Lynn - Good luck with the plums. I am finally out of the harvesting thing!

Margie - The bread is quite good, but I have to get a new bread mixer. It is heavy because the bran, germ and natual oils are still in the four. Everyone who has tried it thinks it wonderful bread!

Eva - Sorry to hear about the heating problem. The next baby will reverse everything. It did with me, anyway. That's why I only had 2 babies!

Kim - Happy Thanksgiving. Sorry to hear about the freinds son. Hope DD feels great soon.

Scott - Sorry about the office move. I can't think of anything I dislike moving more than an office.

Robert - Thanks for coming by! How did all the races go?

Sue - Enjoy your well earned vacation!

Regina - Have a great time! Enjoy the magic...as if you couldn't!

See y'all!

Connie

Eva, great trip report! I thought about doing that race but I had a prior commitment and it was cost prohibitive for me. I had a hard time doing any walking with the heat we had this summer and Mark’s foot troubles so I have started a weight training routine to help my neck. It has improved and my range of motion in my neck and the strength in my arms and legs has been increased too.

The heat, if it gets bad, will give me a tremendous headache that will last for a couple of days. I have overheated once and it’s not fun. All the water did nothing to help, I couldn’t think of anything more so I went and had a salad. The nutrients in the greens boosted my recovery. That whole balanced diet thing.

When I did my two ½’s in Disney I was thankful it wasn’t too hot the years I was there. I guess in 2007 it was brutal but 08 wasn’t bad and 09 was perfect. I know 2010 was brutal for the cold, wind, rain sleet.

So for now no walking, I miss it. I had done my weight routine yesterday and had just finished showering when Miranda called to do 5 miles. I debated but having a lot of sewing/designing to do, it was better for me to work at home. I did spend a lot of time playing with the princess when they returned from the walk.

Well it is Monday with a pile of work. I’ll sign off for now.

Good Morning Team!

Mike – Congrats on your race finish – not much off you previous pace!

Dave – send us an e-mail with your new address, and please confirm when you are moving in – Thanks.

Margie – The fruit butters take much less sugar, I have been putting in 1 cup of sugar for each quart (not cup) of pulp and it is quite sweet enough! The shopping expedition was quite rewarding, we found lots of sales!

Eva – great race report – sorry about the heat! Glad to hear you recovered quickly. Congrats on your PR!

Connie – hope you are feeling better and survived your guests! I will be working with the plums for a while – I can do 2 batches a day, that is about 1 ½ bags and I have 4 bags left (I think), actually, that does not sound too bad, I might finish this week! Yea!

Kim – good morning Kim!

Denise – sounds like your weight program is really helping you out!

Robert – Hi

AFM – It was a cold, rainy and WINDY weekend, no bike rides this weekend:sad1:. We did get the dogs out for a loop on Sunday, in the rain and the wind, before we headed south for our shopping expedition. Saturday I spend putting up plums. Today looks nice and is supposed to stay cool with highs in the low 60’s, so I will get in a good 3 miles today anyway.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hi guys! I'd like to join if possible?

My name's Beth. I'm 39 and live in NYC. I teach students with autism. I'm a fairly new runner - started with the Couch to 5K program at te end of June. So far I've run 2 5Ks and a 10K - and I'm training for the WDW Half in January and the DL Half in September. And I may throw another Half in there somewhere. I've been actively working on losing weight since May and am down 19 pounds and at my lowest weight in over 10 years. No kids...just one very bratty and noisy Quaker Parrot named Benjamin Coffin the Bird (Benny for short).

Um...anything else you want/need to know?

~Beth

Hi Beth!

:welcome:

Thanks for joining! party: Its just a party in here! :surfweb: and we are always glad for new faces!! Wow, NYC? I have never actually known anyone from NYC!

IF you have questions be sure and ask! We don't bite...very hard. And congrats on that weight loss! THat's awesome!

IF it's okay with you, I would like to put your bio on the front page. That's a pretty good place to see who we are!

Welcome, pull up a chair and join us, but don't stay too long... or you won't be running!!! :upsidedow

See ya - Connie

Hi Connie!

Thanks for the welcome! I technically live in Brooklyn, but all the boroughs combined make up NYC! :goodvibes: I was raised in Tennessee and North Carolina though, and I've lived in Chicago and DC as well. But I'm happily ensconced in NYC now!

Sure. Feel free to post the bio! :thumbsup2

I guess the only question I have right now is about thinking about celebrating the Half. I was thinking of doing a special breakfast (with my sister if she's not working...they have a schedule bid between now and then...she's a CM) the morning after, but I realize that's Marathon Morning, so I'm not suer how hard it would be to get somewhere on property during the breakfast ADR time. I was thinking Cape May Cafe or possibly (if sis can come) Tusker House since those two will have Donald and I'll have my Donald medal by then (and we will have just done Chef Mickey's over the Christmas stay). But I'm not sure how able I'd be to get there from CBR. Any thoughts on that?

I'm sure I'll have a lot more as the time approaches! And I'll definitely be adding on races. Just waiting to join NY Road Runners (discounts on their races for members...and with some requirements, guaranteed entry for (at this point) the 2012 NYC Marathon!

My running's done for the day, so I'm all good! Hee!

~Beth

Hi Beth!

Let's see, getting around on property during breakfast. That kind of depends on where you are staying and where you want to go. Resort buses start running about an hour before the first park opens. But the monorail will be running early that day. There will be special (but NOT short) buses for the races, but that probably won't help you much. So...more info is needed! But I bet we can figure out a way for you to get to where you want to be. But you have to know, that until the marathon is finished, getting around will be difficult because of road closings and much, much slower!

Very true. I'm staying at Caribbean Beach.

I've tentatively made an ADR for Cape May Cafe at 9:30. I'm thinking I could do the bus from CBR to EPCOT and then boat to Beach Club...but I've never done the boat over there...would I need park admission to do that?

I guess another option would be to go back to Chef Mickey's...I could bus to either EPCOT or MK and monorail from there. Hmm... Decisions decisions!

Edit: I just made my own executive decision to change to Chef Mickey's. I figure with only having to deal with one bus and then the monorail that will probably make transportation there a bit easier. Now we'll see what my sister has in mind for "something celebratory" on Saturday night.

How about switching out of Chef Mickeys over the holidays and then you can do it for the first time for a celebration breakfast?

That's a possibility. The Christmas time was with the parents AND the sister. I'll check with them about it. (We try to do ADRs not in parks at Christmas until sis knows what parks she'll be allowed to go to on her pass.)

Ohana is a possibility for the 9th as well...the Poly is a monorail resort too.

Lots of decisions.

Welcome, Beth!

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

We are happy you joined us!
Our Team has a mix of walkers and runner-
Very nice group, great motivators, and encourager's.
Not sure if anyone is under 30, but I am the oldest at 65!
You can read most of our Bios on page 1 Post 1

I try to organize the information on our Races, birthday's, and weight loss-
They also are all on the 1st page each month-

Please post when you have upcoming races
Your birthday
and is it okay to post the 19#

Beth,

Since there will probably be at least one park open by 9:00 am, you could take a bus to the opening park and then catch the monorail OR a bus to the Beach Club. The thing is this, you can't go from resort to resort or from park to park. Except at Animal Kingdom, the you can go anywhere! You have to go resort to park or park to resort. But that just makes it more interesting if you ask me!

BUT, Tusker House might well be your best bet on Marathon weekend at 9:30 am because your bus should be running from Carribean Beach to AK, and you will miss the traffic problems. AK is the easiest one to get to during the marathon!
