Hakuna Matata - Scaring up Races and Spooking the competition!

Hi Team,

A most HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VICKY!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Lynn~ Thanks! I'll look for Matt and Tracy again in January! Enjoy the plums, how do you know when to pick them? By color, or taste?

Margie~ PD for Hagen..hope he feels better soon!

AFM~ I ordered my pictures that were taken during the race. Man, do they have to charge so much? They really got them up for sale quickly this time. Bills and laundry today...:laundy:

Have a great day, Mike:cool2:

Good Morning Team!

Vicky, :bday: Enjoy your day! Plans for the new black dress?

Mike, Fantastic Race & Race Report!

Lynn, 64 pounds! Have you decided what you are going to make?

Margie, Glad to hear you were able to sqeeze in the gym.

Nothing exciting happening here. Major rain last night. Didn't get a run in or the dog walked. Went for a pre-vacation pedicure.

Have a great day everyone..........Sue

Hi team! Just a quick drive by for me today :) I've been having a great day so far! My group at work bought me a big bunch of flowers - lots of lilies, roses, sunflowers and gerbera daisies! They also let me leave early so I wouldn't have to tote the flowers home on train during rush hour! Yay!

I got red velvet cupcakes and then went to the gym for a birthday workout. It was a quick 30 minute session but I got birthday wishes from all the trainers there. And they got me a healthy treat (carrot) and an unhealthy treat (fruit tart)! Yummy!

I think the only bad things that happened today was my mani chipping a little and I had a bit of a disagreement with my dad. But that's a long story and I'll save it for another post. Going to shower, get dressed and head out for dinner.

Mike - Loved the race report! And congrats on an awesome time for your first half marathon!! :worship: :cheer2: In January, you'll see Matt (the WISH'er with the hat and gloves) on the bridge just past (or approaching) mile 10. It's the one before you run up this slanted on ramp (stick to the inside it's flat). You should have told that complaining lady that if she wanted a shorter line, she needed to have a faster finish

Sue - Going to wear the dress tonight and my open toe heels! It's actually "warm" today so I think I can get away with wearing them one last time. I got rained in last night as well!

Lynn - Holey moley! That must have been some workout picking and hauling the plums! You must be exhausted! Hope everything goes uneventfully at your physical :thumbsup2

Margie - Going out for dinner tonight - I had hoped to do a family dinner but my dad had other plans. :headache: I'm not going to let him ruin my birthday though. pixiedust: for Hagen! Hope he feels better soon! Good thing he's got grandmum to take care of him!

Kim - How's DD doing? Does she have puffy chipmunk cheeks? That's what I looked like when I got my wisdom teeth out many years ago!

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes everyone! :wave2:

Happy Birthday Vicky!! Red Velvet cupcakes sound FAB.

Mike I loved your report, read every word and felt like I was running right beside you. Yes racing in the dark is hard. We started the WDW 1/2 in the dark and in my first race I fell before the end of mile 1. I messed up my knee but mostly my hand. It made me stronger and more determined.

Worked out Monday and Tuesday. Day off today then back at it tomorrow. My pants are fitting better and I feel good. Only 40 min a day but it's enough so that I can still do other things at night and I"m not too tired.

Well off to bee tonight TTFN

Happy b day Vicky ,

Mike excellent race report. Well done

Work move is in progress and on going. It is crazy, between new building training , work, etc the days this week are averaging 14 hours,

I did get back to Cheyenne and had a nice bike ride home, not sure the milage, gamin battery died, 15 miles plus as it took just under an hour, headwind and the ride home is uphill

Stay strong kids

Wednesday, October 6th

Happy – Happy 59th Birthday, Dave! :cake:

party:party:party:

Wishing you joy, laughter and lots of love.

I woke this morning after a solid, uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep, filled with energy and a feeling of peace. All my plans and dreams are being realized and the future looks amazing. I turned 59 today and feel 20, life is good.

Margie thank you for the great card and all the wonderful thoughts. I sure hope we can cross paths again this year.

I had a nice training walk yesterday with my homies, we did 6.25 miles in 1:23. Sure feels good not to hurt any where.

Have a magical day dear friends.

Dave:hippie:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE AND VICKY!!!!

Thanks all for the well wishes for DD, she is doing OK but definatley swollen big time.

Exercise and food are finally working together for me. Have not checked the scale but am just feeling really good and think I finally found a balance that works for my wants as in doing the marathon and needs as in going to work, and looking after my family.

On a very sad note, we have family friends who lost their son the other night. He committed suicide, he was only 23 years old. He was a great young man but from what we have been told he was dealing with some inner issues he just couldn't get past. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers, they are really great people and this breaks my heart.

Good Morning Team!

Happy Birthday Dave!

Mike – We have been testing them, actually, I picked them a little too soon, most of them are not quite ripe enough, but that just means I’ll need to add more sugar.

Vicky – glad you had a good birthday!

Margie – hope you got your bike ride in last night.

Sue – I am making plum butter, I have found several different recipes, so I plan to make it in batches so that I can try the different recipes (different spices).

Kim – So sorry to hear about your friends son.

Denise – have fun quilting!

AFM – The dogs and I got in a 3 mile walk, then I did 2 miles on the bike while going for the newspaper. The physical went well, I am declared healthy! Started working on the plums last night, they are not as ripe as I thought, but that will be OK. I will make small batches of plum butter trying out the different recipes that I have found, I surely have enough plums to try many different things!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Team,

It seems that everyone is having either highs or lows recently...

Dave~ I got you on FB, but an extra HAPPY BIRTHDAY here also! :cheer2::cheer2: Congrats on the new car also!

Margie~ No, unfortunately I haven't had time to scrapbook lately. Things have been a little crazy schedule wise. Soon, I hope, I have a pile of race bibs that need a home. How's Hagen today?

Scott~ Do you get a bigger office after the move?

Lynn~ How do you test them? For sugar content, or do you just munch on one?

Vicky~ very funny about the complainer, I'll have to remember that one! Glad that you had a nice birthday!

Denise~Sue~ Thanks!

Kim~ It is very sad when this happens. It has also effected our family in the past. Many prayers for their loss.

AFM~ We also got sad news yesterday. My cousin's son, had what the doctors believe was a massive stroke. It was directly in the center of his brain. He is only expected to live for another two months and will be paralized from the neck down. He is 33, married, with a three year old. They all live in Phoenix so it's extra hard as they have no other family near them.

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky/ Kim, Happy Thanksgiving. Have a great long weekend!

Dave, :bday:

Kim/ Mike, Prayers to both families.

Need to get back to work & finish up a few things before I'm on vacation.:woohoo:

Have a great week everyone. The training battle continues........Sue

Mike, yes the office is bigger and nicer for our team, but it is located in our HQ, so we are just to available and I fear we will be called upon for stuff that we really should not deal with.

Each guy on my team will have a separate cubical and a separate computer forensic station, we also will have a 25 station computer lab / classroom, separate rom to acquire computer evidence, and storage, it will be nice.

Today was only 10 hours so I got home in time for a nice 12mile bike ride. Will try and get out early tomorrow but we have av training at the new place.

Thoughts and prayers to those in need.

Hi guys.

Thanks for the wonderful birthday wishes. It was nice coming home from work and finding them. Wish I had a stuffed panda for all of you.

Hakuna Matata Weekend Racersand Volunteers

:cheer2::cheer2: :cheer2::cheer2:

Saturday, October 9th

Mike - Prairie State Half Marathon-Libertyville IL

Sunday, October 10th

Mike - Volunteering at the 10-mile marker / Chicago Marathon
Jennifer – Chicago Marathon / Full Marathon

We are Cheering for ALL of You!

Good Morning Team!

Mike - yes, just munch on the plum and see how it tastes! Have fun volunteering and good luck on your race this weekend. Your cousin's family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Jennifer - good luck on the marathon!

Margie - 1st batch of plum butter is good, not sure on consistancy, Scott thought it might be too hard. It is smoother than butters usually are, no chunks of plum, and it was hard to tell when to take it off the heat. I will work on batch 2 today. It will be spiced.

Sue - have a great vacation!

Dave - hope you had a good birthday!

AFM - the dogs and I only made it around the block yesterday - it was a bit warm by the time I got out with them, I then took the bike for 2 loops (almost 2.5 miles) while going for the paper. I joined Scott on his 12 mile bike ride after he got home yesterday. Today is raining, windy - I think it will clear out in a bit and I will get the dogs out. Plums have turned ripe after being left on kitchen table for 2 days, so I had to find room in fridge for all of them - better get the plum butter made to clear out fridge! I hope to get batch 2 and maybe batch 3 done today.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hey guys! I know it's a bit late, but I popped in for my race report!! :cool1:

So as you know, I flew in on race day. We almost didn't get on (we fly standby), but as it turned out we got first class and flew down in style! Gage stayed behinnd with Grandma since it was an overnight trip. After all we went through that day/night I know we made the right decision. So we got in around noon and got the rental car. We headed stright for packet pick-up and then off to WPE for a bite to eat. We both got pizza...yummmmm! Then off to check in to the hotel. We stayed off property at one of the Marriotts...it was pretty nice (no Disney though!!). Took a nap for an hour and prepared for the race!

During the long wait at WWoS I ate a banana and half of a huge muffin and drank a bottle of water. We met up with Lily, Mike, Regina, Frank and a few others that I spoke to briefly. Everyone was so nice and the WISH team was represented strong!! At around 9pm I headed for the corral. As I sat and waited I met two DISers that aren't on a WISH team, but have posted here quite often. Rose and Mike maybe? They were very nice and were hoping to finish in 2:30, which was my rough estimate. I would have stuck by them, but they were using a run/walk method and I had trained all running. The start of the race was in true disney fashion. Lots of pyrotechnics and energy!

The race started out on the roadways and there were Spectromagic floats and characters every few miles. There was stilt walkers and a live band. The first park was AK and it was great to see the park at night. The weird part was the people cooking along the course in the parks. They had people in chefs outfits with cooking stations. The smell was sickening!! Ugh! It seemed that we exited AK just as quick as we entered it and it was back onto the roadways. By this time I was HOT. I had worn two shirts since my WISH shirt was too short I had a tank underneath. I was feeling good though..no pain, no aches...felling good! We ran and ran until the "turn around" which is a portion of the race that most of you know if you have done the marathon before. But when we entered DHS it got very twisty turny...it felt like we were in that park fooooeeeevvvvvveeerrrrrrrr. I was really really hot by then and even with all water stops used I was still not feeling great. I started to get a bit spotty in the vision, but after a quick walk break I got it together and picked up my pace. The one thing that picked my spirits up was seeing Mr. Fredrickson from Up. He is new to the parks and I had never seen him out and about. He was super cute and even had a walker with the tennis balls!! I chugged along and made it out to the boardwalk area. Once I was there, I knew I was close so I didn't back off. I made it to the finish in 2:24:17...just 6 seconds better than my last half and it gave me a PR. :woohoo:

The after race area got messy as I got stuck in the millenium building next to the bathrooms and the smell wafting over the crowd. I could also hear somebody getting sick nearby and I though if I didn't get out FAST I was going to be sick myself. Eventually I worked my way out of the building and found Jordan. We quickly tucked back by where the Beatles play so I could rest and stretch. I was still feeling pretty sick and I started to get very dizzy. It got progressively worse until I couldn't really walk far without having to sit. My DH found a chair to get me to the car and I slept on the way back to the hotel. I changed into PJs and slept it off. Well, come to find out...I had heat stroke and it can be pretty serious. I wasn't dehydrated at all (not to be gross, but my pee was normal clear color) and I woke up without a headache. I just got too hot...plain and simple. Ever since I had Gage I get hot very quickly and have had to do most of the summer running indoors or very early to beat the heat, but in FL there is no escape! Next time I run a warmer race I will plan on the Galloway method to help with the temps. All in all I enjoyed the course and race, just with I had felt better to enjoy the party!!

Nice report Eva. I'd have loved to be there with y'all. I'll be there in January with a bead on the Goofy finish line. I'll start training here soon. :yay:

I was going to do a training walk today but someone called in sick and I worked an extra 5 hours.

Everyone have a magical weekend.
