Hakuna Matata - Running with the Reindeer!!!

Vicky, yes that's it it's them darn polar bears.:thumbsup2

Lynn, I didn't mean it, you can have your warm weather back, I won't complain any more, I promise.:rolleyes1

Margie and all our dear pretty princesses up north, hope you get some sunshine for Christmas.:cloud9:

I'm taking Sally for treadmill training this afternoon after work.

Dave:hippie:

Vicky ~ Yeah, I can understand the disappointment. I would have been really disappointed as well. A lot of people have gone beyond disappointment and are doing things like demanding their membership fees be returned, etc. I just consider myself very blessed to have gotten a spot and am not taking it for granted!!

And my knee is doing fine. My hip's a little sore, but only if I lay on it, so it's generally not a problem. Only until I get to sleep because I tend to sleep on that side. Oy!

Good Afternoon Team!

Yeah! for Friday. Just as busy as yesterday at work.

Beth, Congrats on your race entry.

Vicky, Here's hoping for a weekend of dry sidewalks/ roads (& no wind;)).

Kim, Where are you Kim?

Margie, Can't say I liked the front loader.
1. Had to make sure to keep the rubber seal around the door free of soap residue. If not when you would pull out the clothes it would leave soapy streaks on the fabric. You wouldn't notice the streaks until after the
2. We didn't have the pedestils(sp?). I would spend the extra on them. It was a long way to bend down.:rotfl:

Don't know much about dryers. We hang most to dry but the washers do spin the clothes much drier not requiring as long to dry in the dryer.

Connie, My mom has made that Condensed Milk recipe for years. We call them magic cookie bars. Never tried it with anything but graham cracker base. Might just have to give it a try.

AFM, Spin tonight, 10 miler Sat & my favourite the 20 miler:rolleyes:

Have a great weekend everyone. Stay warm. Train hard. Only 3 weeks to go...........Sue

Hey Team,

Vicky and Sue, you are right. THey are magic cookie bars. If you search Eagle brand magic cookies you can find the original recipe. I have made what I like to call the white version too. I use vanilla wafers, white chocolate chips, coconut and pecans. Those are yummy too!

We had to go take care of errands, today. In the snow! Yup, it finally snowed here! It wasn't even snowing sideways as it generally does.

Gotta run and get dinner on the table.

See ya - Connie

Hi team! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! How far away from Christmas are we? *LOL* I can't believe that it's going to be next weekend! Well, we've got more snow coming down today so I'm glad I got the 10 miler out of the way yesterday. It was quite the wind chill but nice and sunny. I probably should have wore my ninja mask to keep my face covered but everytime I do that I end up with icicles on my eyelashes. Anyway, the 10 miles was awesome! Managed to keep my pace under 11 m/m and didn't have much knee pain other than the typical soreness and the end of a LR. I felt like I could have done the 5 mile loop a third time but I had to be downtown.

Speaking of ... downtown was a complete zoo yesterday. It took me 20 minutes to find a parking spot. So much for a bad economy. Anyway, I ended up being 15 mins late for my first hair appointment so the colourist wouldn't see me - really? It was new person so I don't know what was up with that. The stupid thing is that whenever I am on time, I always end up waiting at least 10 minutes. I told my hairdresser when he was doing my hair and he said he wasn't happy about that.

Well, I'm hoping next week will be quiet at work. I've still got my usual schedule next week - training on Monday, boxing on Wednesday and another short training session on Thursday. Will try to squeeze in some running as well but will likely stick to the TM becausee the roads will likely be snowy.

Margie - Sounds like you and Nikki got in a good walk yesterday! Glad you didn't fall but I know what you mean about stiff muscles when you try and stop yourself from falling. Do you have any heat packs you can use on your sore muscles?

Connie - I Googled the recipe and will give it a try over the Christmas break! I found some Skor chocolate chip bits at the supermarket so I'll give those a try in the recipe. Hope you didn't get too much snow!

Sue - I never got the chance to experience the joy of the 20 miler. Hope your's is going well today. I hope the fact that I did the 30K back in August will still count for something - that my body will know what it's like to get up to that distance. Are you going to be working next week?

Beth - I'm a side sleeper so I know what that's like. Sometimes because of my knee I can't sleep on my side either unless I use a body pillow (which I don't like because it retains heat). Sleeping on my back is just not comfortable even though I know it's one of the better positions to sleep in. How's your hip and knee today?

Dave - How was your walk with Sally? Is she excited about doing her first half in January? Yes, if you get any warm weather and sunshine - send a little bit of it our way. We could use some!

Mike - How your mom doing? Any progess from the treatments? How's your training going?

AFM - I picked up my new glasses yesterday. I really like them a lot. They're a thick blue plastic frame. For those of you on FB, I posted a picture. Today, I'm off to meet a friend for coffee and pastries downtown. That means I'm sticking to a healthy breakfast and lunch today!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

First Winter Solstice Meeting With Lunar Eclipse In 456 Years
This year's winter solstice will coincide with a full lunar eclipse for the
first time in 456 years. The winter solstice is the shortest day of the
year, and it has not fallen on the same day as a lunar eclipse since
1554, according to NASA.

'Twill be nights before Christmas and high overhead, the moon will
turn brown or maybe deep red. The Earth and the sun with celestial
scripts will conspire to make a lunar eclipse.

Weather permitting, sky gazers in North America will boast the best
seats to this year's only total eclipse of the moon.

North and Central America should be able to view the entire show,
which is expected to last 3 1/2 hours if skies are clear. Total eclipse
begins at 11:41 p.m. PST Monday or 2:41 a.m. EST Tuesday. The
totality phase — when the moon is entirely inside Earth's shadow-
will last a little over an hour.

Unlike solar eclipses which require protective glasses, lunar eclipses
are safe to watch with the naked eye.

Hi guys!!

I'm back from my race!!! My full report is in the kudos thread.

But it was good!!! My average pace? Improved 30 seconds over my previous best pace with NYRR. WHAT EVEN????

My left IT band is being a pain...but really no worse than the right one when I had issues with it. So I'm doing the same things. Hopefully it responds the same. Other than that, everything feels good. I will be rolling out the muscles with The Stick here in a few...and then a nap.

But woo!!!! I've now run 15K!!!!!!!!

Hi team!

Let the taper begin! DH and I put in 10 miles yesterday on the indoor track because it's still quite icy outside here. Except for a little muscle soreness and my knees hurting every time I sit down, I'm feeling pretty good. I think DH is too. Going to use the foam roller on them tonight.

We just finished getting our tree decorated tonight after starting on Friday. We have a real tree, so we don't put it up too soon or it will dry out be Christmas. Now, to start wrapping those gifts!

Margie... I wish those lunar eclipses could start a little earlier in the night. Not sure I want to set my alarm to get up at 1:41 CST!

Everyone else... Take care and enjoy this holiday season. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you on marathon weekend!

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA for so long. I just finished my first semester of PTA school with a 99% in one class and a 96%in the other class. I guess all of my hard work paid off!

I am reading up on everyones progress and am delighted by heat I hear! Aside fro me a few aches it seem everyone is doing great! Also looks like the snow/ice is giving many of us issues.

Yesterday Margie and I did a nice 7 mile walk mainly around the mall parking lot because it was the only space that was clear. It was a bit slower than I would have liked however given the conditions I was every happy! I have been feeling great aside from fighting off a bit of a cold. I am getting most of my weekly mileage in on the TM. I am excited for Disney and nervous at the same time!

Merry Christmas everyone!

(sorry for any typos, I'm writing this on my moms new iPad..... Well technically mine until I hand it over on Christmas day. Ryan and I are loading it up with goodies for herald had to test it out. )

Lynn and I got out for a pup walk and abide ride, the snow rain did not arrive.

New computer set up in the works.

Stop me if you heard me say this before. I am sooooo undertrainned. Oh well not much to do about it now, will just keep putting 1 foot infront of the other for 26.2 miles and get it done. My longest walk since my back to back half marathons in Sept is 8 miles with not alot of mid week walks.grrrrr why do I do this to myself every time:headache:

Good Morning Team! This is my first post from the new computer, have not learned the word processor here yet, so I am having to respond from memory - which is not great!

Vicky - great job on 10 miler!

Connie - sounds like your snow is like ours - sideways!

Beth - glad the knee is getting better, great job on the race!

Dave - after a couple of days of really cold weather, it is now more moderate, 30 degrees this morning, nice over the weekend - today raining and getting cooler - maybe snow later.

Mary - great job on 10 miler!

Nikki - Congrats on the great grades!

Emily - Happy Birthday!

Kim - Welcome Back! You will do fine on the Marathon - even the Goofy if I remember correctly - you always go into these races undertrained!

Margie - cruise packing will start later in the week - today I have lots of things to do like cleaning the house and laundry and learning more about this computer.

AFM - as Scott says, on Sunday we got int a short dog walk, then rode bikes in laps around the block, putting in 6+ miles. It was nice early yesterday. Today the wind has picked up and is raining off and on, will see if I can get dogs for walk during a break, but will get on the spin bike definately. The new computer is an iMac, so now I need to learn new operating systems, so it may take a bit.

Pixie dust for all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi team!

Just quickly checking in because it feels like it's building up to be a busy-ish day. I thought the week before Christmas would be quiet.

Margie - The salon I go to charges average big city prices for haircuts and colouring. I was watching a hairdressing show once and some stylists in NYC charge about $400 a cut! Yikes! I'm sure there are some that charge even more. It would have been much easier just to see one person but I think a lot of the salons separate the services here. I went back downtown yesterday and just used public transit. Much easier not to worry about parking and sitting in traffic! for Sara! And wish I could stay up to watch the lunar eclipse but if I do, I'll be sleeping at work the next day :(

Beth - Congrats on your 15K! I'll check out your RR after I post. Since it was your first 15K, you could treat yourself to a massage to help work out the ITB tightness :)

Kim - You and me both! We'll be fine! Better undertrained right :) If it makes you feel any better, I only ran 10 miles this weekend and the last "LR" was back in November. It's all about finishing :) And your ILs are funny - at least they've still got the energy to disagree about things!

Emily - Happy birthday!

Nikki - Congrats on finishing your classes! And look at those grades! Good job! I hope your mom likes the iPad :)

Mary - WTG on your 10 miler!

Lynn - Lucky girl! I've been wanting a Mac forever! Enjoy :) Are you taking with you on your trip?

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hello Everyone,

Margie: Sorry I've also been MIA. After the snow storm, I seem to have been taken out by a determined cold/flu bug. I've had pneumonia three times in the last ten years or so and so I'm trying to take it easy because I'm really susceptible to it now (takes less than a week for a cold to go to pneumonia). I went through 3-4 pitchers of water last night alone. We dont' have a thermometre but I'm usually freezing and yesterday I was running hotter than the bf (who is usually a heater).

Thus, I haven't done any running, going on the third week now. I'm really disappointed with myself because I'll have to slowly work my way up again and that's not much time to do it in.

I'm trying to compare prices for the trip but the website won't accept my postal code for the pin I received by e-mail. If it's not one thing, it's another, eh? If I go home early from work today, I may call and try and get a price comparison over the phone.

Despite all that, I did manage to get about half my Christmas shopping done. I'm still looking for those last few 'OH WOW!' gifts for my parents and bf. They're so hard to buy for.

And I'm being sent hom early from work... Here's hoping I feel better tomorrow.

Saylan - Hope you feel better soon! Don't worry, there's still a lot of time before the Princess 1/2. I know it doesn't feel like it but you'll have time to catch up on training (Speaking from experience ...). Hang in there! Good luck with the last few Christmas presents!

Sue/Connie - I wanted to make the condensed milk magic bars ... does it matter if I use sweetened or unsweetened coconut flakes? The recipes just call for coconut flakes. I'm thinking unsweetned since condensed milk is usually pretty sweet.

Good Afternoon Team!

Margie, You are too kind. I still feel very under trained going in. I would have liked to have done more weights & a few more long runs.
Did you get your few things accomplished?

Vicky, My friend pays dtwn TO crazy hair prices. Over $125 for a cut.
Bummer that the colour tech. wouldn't do your hair. I also went on Sat. to get mine done. I need to keep that grey covered.;) Nice work on your 10 miler.

Kim, Glad to see you back.

Saylan, PD for your cold. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Emily, Happy Birthday. Hope you have a great day.

Lynn, Did you get all your gifts mailed?

AFM, I got in 2 good workouts on the weekend. Spin class & a 13 miler. Yesterday's run was not a long as I wanted. We got more snow that I wasn't anticipating.

Have a great day...........Sue

Thanks Vicky and Sue. I went home early yesterday and went to a walk-in clinic. I have bronchitis apparently and since I've had pneumonia 3 times before, they immediately started me on anti-biotics to prevent it a 4th time (this cold only took two days to go from cold to almost pneumonia... a new record for me). Looks like I won't be doing much running or training for the next few days (who has time anyways?)

Last night I bit the bullet and registered for the Princess 1/2 and booked our stay. It was the last night of the free dining plan offer and they had no more hotels at the cinderella pin I received so I'm glad I called. We're going to be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I haven't stayed there since I was 5 so this should be fun. It was the first one I remember ever staying in. I'm feeling a little buyer's remorse but I'm hoping that fades. The guy on the phone actually tried to tell me that they built the resort based on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies... I didn't have the heart to tell him I knew better. :goodvibes

Those are insane prices for hair. And I thought paying 35-45 was a lot. I was going to try and squeeze a hair appointment in before Christmas but I'm not sure that will happen now. I've been toying with getting high lights but I'm terrified of them being streaky or having to touch them up every few weeks... I'm such a chicken.

Hope everyone is doing well prepping for Christmas. :santa: Take care in the holiday rush and remember to show patience where others do not. I saw a customer yelling at a handicapped cashier for not coming around (past 2 other cashiers) to pick up some magazines that fell right next to her instead of simply picking them up herself. I simply walked over and picked them up (all 3 of them). I was really disappointed to see such treatment of anyone, let along at Christmas time. It's such a shame.

Well back to rest for me!
