The taller one in the yellow skirt that is!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I always forget about you being hours ahead of most of us. When I read your posts really late at night, I'm sure you're getting up for the next day already.

It was strange for Tom and me to be in the same time zone as all of you! :lmao:

I can't believe your trip is over. I've been MIA on this thread but am happy to report that I'm back for the detailed trip report. Bring it on!

Welcome home! :goodvibes Next set of reviews coming up in a few more minutes!

Yay!! Time to start the reviews!

Not much longer ........ it's coming up!!!

Yummy Austrian Breads !!! Did I tell you I vacationed in Austria many many years ago I can't remmebr the name but it was close to the Swiss and Italian borders !!! I loved waking up to the CCow and Goat Bells and the Fresh Mountain air was soooo restful !! I could function well on 3 hours sleep!!!

No, I never knew that you visited Austria! By the way you describe it, it sounds like you visited somewhere in The Tyrol - wonderful part of Austria (as every part of it, :lmao:)
Can you imagine that the thing I miss most when visiting the US is my yummy bread? :rotfl: It's such a treat after all the soft bread we eat in the US

Karin, I interrupt your food review to give you a brother update: I just got home from the hospital. Both tests were negative on his heart (no blood clot, no tumor) and his catscan was negative for a stroke. He has been moved out of ICU and is now in the Cardiac Step Down Unit. When I got to the hospital, he was sitting up on the edge of the bed eating dinner (soup, yogurt and something else). They hope to have him up walking a few fee tomorrow morning, then more in the afternoon and again at night. They hope if they can get his strength up to have him home by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I am convinced that all of your prayers played a big part. Thank you.

:woohoo: BEST NEWS EVER!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:  Kathy I am sooooooooo glad you brother is doing so much better! I hope his recovery keeps going so well!

Prayers answered.

:thumbsup2

Looking forward to your reviews!

Not much longer - now that my weekend has officially started, my first assignment is the update! :goodvibes

Joining in. I'm away from the Disboard for a few weeks and I see your review (YEAH) I LOVED your passed reviews and very excited to catch up with this one.

Welcome back! We had a fantastic time and I have some interesting reviews for you all! :woohoo:

Still Day 1, February 13

Some surprisingly yummy airplane food

We boarded our first plane for the 50 minute flight to Frankfurt with a little delay, but still with enough time to make it to the long distance flight.

They do cater free snacks on short flights, so this is what we got.

IMG_4118.jpg

Nussini, a wafer biscuit bar, filled with chocolate cream and covered in milk chocolate and nuts - VERY yummy!

We had some Coke to go with it, no photo here :scared1: I forgot to take the photo!

We had a 2 hour stopover before we boarded our plane for the long distance flight! We were seated fairly towards the back but at least it was a window seat and close to the kitchen/galley and lavatories!

About 45 minutes into the flight we were served drinks and snacks.

IMG_4122.jpg

Tom had a beer.

IMG_4121.jpg

I stuck to the Diet Coke and remembered to take a photo! :rotfl:

IMG_4119.jpg

And we got some pretzels to nibble on.

About 2 hours into the flight a late lunch was served.

IMG_4130.jpg

Here's a photo of the whole tray.

IMG_4124.jpg

IMG_4126.jpg

We started our meal with the salad with shrimps with Thousand Island Dressing. I was surprised at how fresh it tasted, even out of a plastic container!

IMG_4127.jpg

We then had the roll with butter and Camembert - which was actually quite nice.

IMG_4132.jpg

Tom had chosen the beef stew accompanied by a herb polenta cake and some broccoli. The meat was really tender, well seasoned and the broccoli and carrots not "mush" at all. The polenta tasted different, but was a real nice side dish!

IMG_4133.jpg

I had opted for the pasta dish. The pasta was cooked just a "tad" too much, but still nice and quite all dente. It came with three sauces, pesto, tomato and mushroom sauce and was really nice and yummy.

After lunch we both took two sleeping aid pills and slumbered for about 3 hours. We were then served a light dinner.

IMG_4135.jpg

IMG_4139.jpg

We had the roll with butter. It was not as nice as the one we had had for lunch, much softer and most of all, it was really cold.

IMG_4140.jpg

Main course was Ravioli with tomato and bell pepper sauce. And I have to admit that keeping in mind this was served about 6 1/2 hours into the flight, the ravioli was still nearly all dente, had a wonderful light taste and the sauce worked very well with it.

IMG_4138.jpg

Dessert was "Mueller Milch Reis" (rice cream) First of all NOT my favourite dessert at all and this particular one has a funny consistancy. Tom had a cherry flavoured one and mine was chocolate. We both had a few spoonfuls, but that was it.

We landed about 50 minutes early, which was fine, even though it took some time to get a spot at the terminal. Leaving the plane went really fast and we were off to get in line for immigration. We were stunned as there were just a handful of people in front of us and by the time we stepped up to the officer the whole hall had filled with a few more planes arriving just a few minutes after us.
It didn't take us very long to be allowed into the country, pick up our luggage and go through customs.

Next up - another surprise, a shock and FINALLY our first meal at Wolfgang Puck's Express!

You make airline food look and sound so wonderful!

........ and still Day 1, February 13

FINALLY ........... dinner at Wolfgang Puck's Express

Where were we ........... oh yes, we just "flew" through immigration and were off to join the line at the rental car desk. To our HUGE surprise, there were just 3 people in line ahead of us!!! :scared1:
Last year we were stuck in this line for about an hour and a half and I just could not believe our luck with such short wait times. In my mind I was actually picturing us going to the MK this evening as well.
At the rental car desk we handed in our voucher and in no time were handed our paperwork and sent outside to pick up "any" car in a dedicated row. Unfortunately the ONLY cars left in that row were GIANT vans!!! We discussed if we wanted to drive around in one of them then asked if we could downgrade and were told we could and that we should just take any car in another row. We picked a Jeep and later discovered this!!

IMG_4614.jpg

We had picked Stich's car!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Once everything was loaded into the car we got on our way towards the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista.
Traffic was easy and we arrived there in no time. The shock came at the reception desk. They had cancelled our reservation!!!! .... and they were all booked! Well, since I had the confirmation and it stated that we were supposed to come in late they made a few phone calls and got us a room at a sister resort - the Shingle Creek resort.
We drove over, were stunned by our room

DSC_0166.jpg

packed everything in and off we went in search for some very late dinner. We knew Wolfgang's would be open until 11pm and it was 10.30 and a 20 minute drive. We tried ......... and got lucky!!!!!!
We ordered two sandwiches to take away and were actually the last people served that day - talk about being lucky!

IMG_4142.jpg

IMG_4143.jpg

We ordered the Pressed Bistro, Sopressata, Mortadella, Toscana Salami, Parmesan and Arugula. This was served hot (and was still warm about half an hour later in our room!) with herbed French Fries. The sandwich was huge, there was a large amount of meat and even though the fries had gone cold they were still nice.

IMG_4144.jpg

IMG_4145.jpg

The other sandwich was the Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich, Romaine and Plum Tomatoes. This one came with homemade chips and had plenty of roasted chicken and was moist and well seasoned.
We had picked up some new menus as the the menu had changed just 3 days before we went there.

I was relieved to see my beloved Creme Brulee was still on the menu! :rotfl:

After our very late dinner we watched a little TV and then just passed out on our beds!

Up next - another meal at Wolfgang Puck's Express!

That does it. After looking at the menu and your pictures of Wolfgang Puck's, we are definitely going to try it on our next trip (nope, we've never been). And thank you to you, Karin, and everyone else here on your thread for the warm wishes about my brother. I LOVE the DIS! :grouphug:

I can't wait to eat at WPE again. I can't believe it took me until last trip to try it, but now that I have, it's a must-do for me.

Oh, Kathy, if you haven't tried WPE yet, you definitely have to! The food is soooooo yum yum! :lmao: And I LOVE that they bring out your food on a real plate, not the paper ones they use at the other CS places!

I just found a way to view park hours for September on the Disney site, even though they are not officially posted yet! :rotfl2: and I am trying to make up our itinerary for summer! We have 80 (!!!!) possible TS credits (some of them can be converted to CS thanks to the DxDDP) to spend! :scared1: This is going to be a huge food feast!

Never unestimate the power of combined prayers and a dose of magical pixiedust:! All the best for your dear brother!!

great reviews already, glad the hotel was sorted easily :thumbsup2

what are the numbers after the food on WPE menu?

We were MORE THAN happy the hotel was sorted out that easily - and it was a HUGE upgrade, as we only paid the original price for the Comfort Inn! (69$) :rotfl2:

The numbers on the menu (had to take a look myself) are actually the prices! I just noticed they are working with even numbers now! :goodvibes

thanks for that, i saw the numbers the other day in your teasers and wondered what they were. thought prices but looked weird as they were just one number and no $ symbol.

cant wait to read more reviews :goodvibes

catching up now, sorry you got sick, never fun on a holiday....

and great news on Saratoga and OKW in August! well done. gotta love the disney UK site:cool1:

we spent a couple of nights at the Rosen Shingle Creek after moving out of OKW last October, they have rates for $69 on occasion, always worth checking....very nice hotel:thumbsup2

yum yum on the airline food....got to say that British Airways, Virgin or American Airlines ex UK doesn't look anything like that! Enough said.:rolleyes1

Here's a funny article for you on Virgin's food to give you an idea;)

And off topic, KatMark, so pleased to hear your prayers have been answered..best wishes for a speedy recovery....

Karin, just stopping in to ask for prayers. I've been having heart palpitations for the past four days and went to my doc today. I have to go to the hospital Monday morning for an EKG and a heart monitor. I'm concerned because my Daddy had congestive heart failure.:guilty:

Oh, Kat, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I went through this two years ago and again this past January. It turns out both times it was just overly stressed. I'm going to keep positive thoughtst that this is the case with you as well. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love you...and keep us posted.

Mmmm WPE-- it's our absolute fav CS place in Disney. Half the reason I love your reviews is that I know I'm guaranteed some good WPE pics!! :goodvibes:goodvibes
