Hakuna Matata Happy New Year!

Thanks guys for all your support! I think I was just having one of those days. On the bright side, my friend who was XC captain is marathon training in the spring so it should give a good work out buddy and with moving to a new state in the summer I'll have a whole new crop of races and people, while still being close enough to home to still race there every now and then.

It's cold here so I didn't run today, but I did get in 5 miles again yesterday.

Jennifer

Hi Team.

We just got back from Disney this evening, long long drive, 11 hours. We are tired but will be on tomorrow. I hope eveyone had a super week.

I finally got to meet Margie, Vickey, Denise, Miranda, Mark, Hope and Nick. All are world class people and Erica and I felt honored to join them in the activities this weekend.

I had the pleasure of doing most of the Marathon with Lynn G. She is a brave and tough lady. Being a Wyoming chic the heat was hard on her but she kicked it's butt.

Denise you have an awesome family, you are a good role model and mentor to them.

Margie, we are signed up for the Goofy also. I told Erica if she did good on the marathon we would do it again. She did great.

Everyone have a restful evening.

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

Michigan has the Big Chill happening this week in addition to a bit of snow – another couple of inches last night. Not sure how many feet we now have, but I have shoveled a lot since the return from WDW. :cold:

‘Welcome Home’ Team – hope you all had fun. Got lots of pictures, and enjoyed all the memory moment! It was wonderful to finally meet so many of you. Felt the pressure of not enough time to meet, talk, see, and do everything. :goodvibes

Sorry I cannot help Jennifer – I am totally not competitive. I so enjoy just being a ‘FunWalker’. I often set a goal, time, & pace for my self, and would rather not be last, but would be extremely happy & honored to walk with that last person to cross the finish line! I truly feel great, thrilled with my accomplishment when I cross that finish line, and get my Bling-Awesome Feeling! :cheer2:

Heeeellllllooooooo TEAM!

Jennifer - I agree that you should look into a formal team of some sort. You are so speedy...seems a waste to not put it to use!

Margie - How Michigan doing? It's been hovering around 1 degrees here today. When we woke up in was in the negative doubles. Sounds like tonight is a good night for blankets on the couch!

Dave - So sad that I cannot be added to your list of "meets". I looked for you everywhere! Well..I looked for everyone everywhere...too hard to find people. I really should have come up to the POP meet but I got shy and felt all weird about it. :guilty:

Kathy - So glad to see you on here more lately!

Connie - I have been running like a crazy person since we got home and I know I owe you miles and minutes. I promise I'll get them to you before Tuesday!

Sue - Hockey fan here too....GO WINGS!!

Shoot...gotta run....TTFN folks! :wave2:

Stilll at wdw, did Studios adn AK having buritto dinner then off to EPCOT,

The honors go to Lynn for hanging in there on the Marathon, and the Panda who guided her on te journey,

TTFN,

Hey, team! I have a question.....

It occurred to me today that I may be a WISH member under false pretenses....I am not sure exactly. I enjoy walking, but racing....not so much. I may do some more races in the future, but doubt I'll do one at Disney, other than the ToT again, maybe. Just too many people for me and honestly, if I'm going to be there, I want to play, not race. So, does the fact that I have no Disney race aspirations disqualify me from WISH?

No the motto means

We're inspired to stay healthy.

I think you qualify. We may stray now and then - a cheeseburger, margarita, pizza but overall, we're trying.

Welcome to the team!

denise

Yep I second what Denise said, we are all on a journey. Sometimes we take different paths and sometimes we walk together. Racing is not a requirement, support for each other is. Sometimes we can support and sometimes we need the support ourselves.:wave2:

I had a pool workout yesterday so resting again today. The rule of thumb is one rest or easy day for every mile raced. I'll start walking workouts on Monday.

Have a super day team.

Resting Panda:goodvibes

Thanks, Denise and Dave. I just wanted to make sure!

I am doing some weights today and some housecleaning. :laundy: I have a long walk scheduled for tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it. The weather is supposed to be very nice! Sorry, all you northern folks! Don't mean to rub it in, but we generally get a really nice few days intermittently through the winter! Of course, they generally come with a wind strong enough to knock you over, but......it's sunny and nice!

I have managed (I think) to get my exercising under control and am now working on getting my eating under control....always a harder task for me. Yesterday went very well. The whole week actually went better than I have been doing, although not as well as I will do! I seem to have to do it gradually - sort of sneak up on myself! :rotfl2:

Make it a great day! :wave2:

Hi everyone!

I'm off on a mother-daughter shopping weekend. It's warming back up a bit down here in Alabama. Hope everyone stays warm, but it looks like the worst of this snap is done (at least around here)!

Jennifer

I brought Hope to work this morning it was -6. Thankfully no wind so it wasn't that bad. Of course I was in the car the whole time and all the layers made me look like a stuffed snowman.

I have all kinds of new tools to work with this year. Wii fit, P90X DVD's Treadmill, elliptical so I'll be doing more hours than miles for the team this year at least until spring.

Have a good day all, may start tomorrow, today is sewing and fun day. I told Mark last night I could do another 1/2 this weekend - especially if I was back in Florida. Alas, we're stuck here in NH at least until March 2 when we head back to the world on points. Thank goodness for DVC

Hi everyone!

I got back Monday but have been SOOOO busy! I met Margie and her friend at the expo. She was the first WISHER I saw. Walked up and said HI! then noticed her Hakuna Matata Pin! (Thanks Denise!) We chatted for a bit, but I had to get going. Later, at the Pop meet I met Dave and Erica and Scott and Lynn and saw Margie again if only briefly. We didn't realize there were WISHers inside the food court. and had met some other WISH'ers outside (the man who was doing the vow renewal post race?) and talked to few other people. I didn't see any of our team pre race for the half, but did hang out with some other WISHERS and it was great to be able to pass the time and have something in common with people. I tried to stop and say hi to all the WISHERs I passed during the half. Congratulations to ALL who participated!

Here's a report I posted on the reports board, too

Some random thoughts from a newbie and first time Half'er.
First and foremost, thanks to everyone on these boards. Having the support and wealth of knowledge here before the race was just incredibly helpful. Being able to seek out and find a few other wishers in the pre race area made the time go quickly and keep my mind off the stress. And of course, all the cheering was inspiring and invaluable.
Overall it went well, despite a few setbacks. First was the fact that I had decided to "re-load" my music on my phone so I deleted all the music that was there and at 10:30 at night before the race attempted to install a new playlist. I don't know what the issue was, but nothing would load (except for the songs from the CD "Where the Magic Lives" all WDW theme park music - go figure! I just wasn't sure I could take 25 minutes of Disney music and hear it over and over again for 3.5 hours. Luckily DH had his mp3 player so I borrowed that. Unluckily, he has a different playlist and listening to Frank Sinatra Love songs at mile 8 was tough! I skipped through them and opted for Beethoven, instead! Even though I'm sure some of music helped me keep pace, I don't remember much of it from the last third of the race - not sure I was really listening at that time!
I managed to get a few pictures with characters in the MK, but was disappointed at some the lines for the early porta pods. I remember stopping at the ones just outside TTC and having to wait 4+ Minutes! All of a sudden, the great time I was making (14 minute mile) was gone to just above sweep time - very nerve wracking!
I never did read the post race chapter in Marathoning for Mortals - so post race, went back to my room (which we had to check out to move to another room) took a hot shower, had a glass of wine, and headed out for 12 hours (and probably 12 miles) of park touring and further alchoholic hydration (which in hindsight, I guess, really doesn''t hydrate) I took 3 advil and fell into bed at midnight and woke up sunday at 8:30 feeling like a million bucks. We had to switch rooms again, so got packed up and by 10AM were on our way to another 12-14 hour park touring day (and probably another 12-14 miles) - Had my first cocktail at 11Am and continued on from there. Started to loose steam around 8:30 sunday night. On MOnday, I got up, barely, and felt like I'd been hit by a bus - achy, chills, stomach/ bowel issues, headache (probably dehydrated) and right knee pain. I peeked out of my BWV room at a crowd at the bakery around 8:30 but just couldn't muster the energy to get out of the room quickly. We checked out of the hotel around 10:30 (which by that time, there didn't seem to be many at the bakery) and I hobbled my way from the BW to DS, then to Epcot before heading home. I fell asleep immediately on take off and despite sitting the last row of the plane in a seat that wouldn't recline, I was out cold for 1.5 of the 2 hour flight home. I skipped work the next day, rested, drank lots of water and ate comfort food - homemade macaroni and cheese - not healthy, but hit the spot!
Possible best advice I received - vaseline on your feet - after hearing about others blisters, perhaps the body glide I rubbed all over my feet before putting on my socks was of some benefit!
I'm feeling pretty good tonight, but I probably won't work out for a couple more days yet. And I'm not sure I'm a repeat performer. But am probably going to do the ToT 13K next October.
For those that particpate one day and chear the other (or visa versa)- extra, extra kudos to you! If I do go in future years, I think I'll go just to chear! I feel like I owe some payback! I may have to go alone though, because DH, DD and her friend thought that watching and waiting for me in the cool morning air was probably harder than running the race themselves.
Of course, they didn't get to see the gospel choir - which I thought was great!
So thanks again to all!!!!!!

Denise, Again, thanks for the pins I wore mine all weekend and got lots of curious looks and comments from Cast Members.

I still haven't worked out. Not really for any reason but just TOOOO busy. I really did let alot slide during training and now its catch up time. I figure this week we'll be able to get back into the routine.

Jennifer - Not sure what to say to get you motivated mentally, but when I was reading Marathoning for Mortals, the couldn't stress enough crosstraining to increase your time. I didn't start crosstraining until the weather got cold and I was forced onto the machines at the Y, but I think it really made a difference.

Well - been here an hour already, reading and posting - and I'm supposed to be working! :rotfl:

Anne

Took today off adn just hitting parks, one more full day here but we gotta do some packing, will get a run in tomorrow morning......

Chillymorn here, will catch up when I get a chance.

Good freezing afternoon,

Well I went outside to do my run (4 milles) this morning and it was minus 20 celcius ( 0 farenheit). At least, even if it was not sunny, there was no wind. I guess it is that kind of run that make you tough mentally.

I haven't signed up yet for the Goofy and during my run I was wondering if I could do a 20 milles run in December in that kind of weather?????

I am in my second day of rest after working 7 graveyard shift and my body has make it another time. 9 more years of working "shifts" and it can not come fast enough.

Tonight I will be cheering fot the Canadiens for a victory against the Senators (it should be easy :rotfl: ).

Diane
GO HABS GO!!!!!

Anne, yes we do get that reaction from Cast Members. I remember once when we were wearing our Disney Chick pins and had lunch at Beaches & Cream, a couple of Disney "suits" were very interested in our pins. It got a bit uncomfortable for one of my friends but I told them they were just for us and "honorary disney chicks" No husbands, no kids for a long weekend at Disney.

We gave them out to mothers with screaming kids or tired husbands when they saw us and really wanted to join us. I think we gave a few of them some ideas! :sad2:

I didn't drink much last weekend because my dd is pregnant and can't drink so we only had 1 at Yak & Yeti and a glass of sangria at Mama Melrose.

Your certainly did a lot of moving both rooms and bodily. It is hard to train here in the north during the winter months, I plan on more cross training this year to have the rest of my body as strong as my legs.

French Lady - I agree, training in sub-zero temp is crazy. Mark wanted to go out today for a walk it was 16 - the coldest temp I;ve been out in is 15, I still couldn't do it today. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

Morning Kids, got in a three mile run this morn here at OKW, we leave tomorrow, so we are packing and doing laundry, condo looks like a laundy tech stuff hanging all over.

Off to MK this morn, more packing and laundry the finsih at EPCOT.

Tomorrow is our adventure in travel, drive to Tampa, fly to Cincinnati, 3 hour layover, Fly to Denver, Drive home, will be good to see the pups.

Have a great day kids, still bummed I missed meeting some of ya.

We will be at DL and the TOT and here next year.

Yes Scott, I thought you and Lynn were going to the dessert part. Last year I never met Dave and Erica but Miranda did. This year we "ran into" them, I missed Eva too. There is just so much to do and if your there only for a long weekend like us,the kids want to do some of the parks and since their not "official" wish members they only tag along to please me.

The internet has made our world so small and as one of my quilt teachers said after a class, I'll say so long not good bye because I know we'll see each other again. Unless we stop training, competing or fall of the face of the earth, I know we'll "run into" each other at some point.

Safe flights home. it's currently 14 here in NH and snowing so enjoy every moment.

denise

Denise it was an honor to finally meet you and your wonderful family. Yes what you said is so true our paths will continue to cross as long as we seek a healthy lifestyle. SOOOO Happy for Miranda.

I have a cold and feel like crap today so nothing for me but going to work. It is quite pleasent out since the temp is in the 30s again. Maybe tomorrow I will feel more like training.

Scott you and your pretty princess get home safe.

Everyone have a super day.

Sick Panda:wave2:

Good chilly morning, peeps!

I am going to do my "run" today during the football game! I would just as soon be doing something as watch other people do something.

Sorry you are sick, Panda! Get well soon.

Y'all make a great Sunday!

Hey guys! Well...today is another blustery day in Ohio. I have my fuzzy Tink pants on and my robe...staying warm! Tomorrow I go and buy a gym membership...I just HAVE to get back into my running. I'm getting very antsy! I learned from my marathon that I really need to focus more on my quads and upper body (my posture was horrible by the end of the race and I had some back pain). So I might be looking to you guys who do strength training for some help along the way. :thumbsup2

Dave - Hope you feel better!

Denise - I like what you said about us meeting up someday. I know I missed the boat by not going to the POP meet or brownie party...lesson learned. Maybe next time we should just have a Hakuna Matata meet somewhere in the AK?!

Scott/Lynn - Glad you guys got so much time in the parks..I told Jordan that we really need to plan on stay for a few days after the race next time. I had to really back off on my commando park style this year since we had the race coming up and I feel like we missed out on so much.

Anne - Thnx for the race report..it's always nice to read about others experiences!

Oh and I wanted to say that I looked up 2009 Disney Marathon on youtube and found some fun videos. Got a little teary eyed watching one...I'm just so proud that I actually did it!!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!
