Hakuna Matata - Gobbling up the pavement and thankful we can!

Sally got a job, it's through a temp service, KELLY, loading data at a factory. It goes till the end of the year and that works perfect for the Disney trip. After we return she can start looking again or maybe even keep doing temp work for Kelly services since she doesn't need benefits.

We are taking a rest day but tomorrow we will be doing a 1 hr and 10 min training walk.

Hey all!

Busy times here! Yesterday was x-t - I decided to do 30 Day Shred Level 1 since I had limited time. Then it was off to...I'm going to put "Homecoming 2010" but put an "o" in place of the "e" (a lot of boards don't like that word, so...) - which is a joint effort of a lot of the LGBT sports leagues in NYC. This year we're raising money for The Trevor Project. It was a BLAST!!! I had so much fun getting all dressed up. And then trying to identify fellow running club members all dressed up. LOL.

Today was my first time doing the full 6-mile loop of Central Park. It went ok - I had to walk in a couple of running sections, but I feel ok about that. The upper section, which was new to me, is a big hill whichever way you go. Like, bigger than The Beast, Son of The Beast (both in Prospect Park) and Cat Hill in Central Park big. But I'll get there. My oblivion as to who I was seeing in the NYCM last weekend fell away today. I passed both Jackie Hoffman and Hoda Kotb - they were going the opposite way I was...so I didn't like overtake them. Hee!

I'm about to get tin the shower and get cleaned up for night 2 of our fundraising weekend. It's a hoedown! :cool1:

And while I've pretty much outed myself... Front Runners NYC, in response to all the bullying and suicides by LGTB youth, made a video to participate in the It Gets Better Campaign. Please watch and pass along to ANYONE you think might benefit from it!

Hugs and Pixie Dust to all!!

Hey guys!!

I've had a long day! Started out with Margie at 7:30 with a GREAT walk! Went to our local Holiday parade with my little niece (3 months old), and and estimated 20,000 other people. Have a girlfriend in town and went to see a movie with her! Now I'm just plum tuckered out! Time to get to bed before our race tomorrow! I'll catch up with everyone soon!

Stats from today's workout:
Time 1:05
Distance 4.24 miles.

Had some great splits in there with the best being 14:47mile! There were quite a few hills mixed in so we are SO PLEASED with our progress! Time to get ready for tomorrow!

Take care everyone!

1:pm Jingle Bell 5K – Nikki will post our stats.
Really Great 5K with Nikki. It was one of those times that it was hard to decide what to wear.
It was a chilly 38°, cloudy, & windy. It was cold standing around waiting for the start, but it
did not take long to warm up. It was cloudy and windy for the whole race then the sun started
to peak through as we finished. It was a very familiar area. Part on the road, sidewalk, and
Celery Flats trail. A few bumps but not real hills like we did yesterday. Not sure if it was the
wind, medication, or maybe the 2nd day of working hard, but it certainly was a good cardio
workout for me-I was breathing hard when we came in. The volunteers were nice & friendly.
They had one water station mid-course, great recovery foods of granola bars, bananas, apples,
bread, chili, and coffee. I tried the Gatorade Pre-Race and Recovery Drinks for the first time. *shrug*
the Recovery Drink has a yucky 1st taste. Yes, I did drink the whole bottle! We did wait until we
got back to the car to drink it – so it might not be the best test. I do not think it was much different
than just the regular Gatorade.

Hello Everyone!!!
Race Report here!!!

Margie and I did the Jingle Bell 5K today in Portage Michigan!

It was a walk to benefit the arthritis foundation. There were well over 300 people there of all fitness levels! The event raised over 15,000!

It was a relatively flat course with just a few little inclines along the way! We started out on some roads and then moved to a wooded paved trail.

We kept up at a good clip despite the cold weather and the wind! Once we got to the trail it was less windy and I can say we even got a little warm! We met up with a nice girl, Heather, who was walking the race due to a running injury. She teamed up with us because we "looked like serious walkers."

We finished the walk in 46:55 according to the Garmin watch which was REALLY close to the chip time. Margie finished 370th overall and I finished 369. For our age groups I finished in 39 and Margie finished in 2!!!

We stayed for the awards for Margie to get her medal! They had lots of munchies at the end, chili, bread, fruit and granola bars. The bread was from Panera so I grabbed a few too many pieces!!

It was a great race and I had tons of fun with Margie!

Side note: I did manage to fall/slide down the stairs this morning. I'm doing ok aside from a sore bottom and right shoulder (I was hanging onto the railing) Gave me quite a scare but I bounced back! We'll see how stiff I feel tomorrow from it!!!

Have a great evening everyone!

Hello Team! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Margie and Nikki - WTG on your race!

AFM - DH and I walked 2.5 miles yesterday. We heard back from our realtor Friday night and the bank returned all offers. So, we made a counter offer and we'll see what happens. I'm not too optimistic we'll get it since it is a multiple offer situation. Not sure when we'll hear back.

Have a good night!
Emily

Thanks for the race report Nikki! Great job!

And congrats Margie!!! That's awesome!!!

I'm about to get in bed. Long week coming up. Blech.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I spent the week with the mouse and fiance. I had a crazy dream of eating a cupcake on Main Street on my birthday.
74302_464554843753_513883753_5434815_3680212_n.jpg

With a ton of help from both of our parents, we actually got it to happen. But I also got sick on the trip, so I was extra mopey when leaving since I felt like I lost out on some of the trip. Had such a wonderful time with Nick and enjoyed the Food and Wine Fest. Had a meeting with DFTW too, saw our spot for the reception. It was so fun seeing Nick's eyes light up. He's so excited about it.

Off to listen to Illuminations...

Hey gang. No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth

Have been away but home and ready to kick it up over the next 2 months, trainning correctly, eatting properly.

Will catch up right now have to get to work.

Kim

Kimmer your back, we missed you princess.

Sally is getting ready for her first day of work and I'm getting ready to go for a workout since I'm off today. Her job came up quickly so the off time I scheduled this week to spend time with her will be used to do busy errands instead.

It is chilly here this morning, 29 degrees, is winter upon us?

If our dear canadian buds would keep the door to the deep freeze closed we would be ok, but no, being the kind people they are they want to share their winter weather.

Have a magical day y'all.

Hi Everyone!

Hope~ Happy Birthday!! (belated - sorry) Love the pic of the cupcake!

Dave~ You must try TONGA TOAST it is one of WDW's best delights! Congrats to Sally on the new job! See ya in January!

Margie~ Way to go in your race! Second in group! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Vicky~ You can ship anything (legal that is :) ) to us and we will be happy to send it up to you! I can PM you our address or phone and you can call us if you want.

Scott and Lynn~ having a great time at WDW!!

Emily~ Great costumes!

Beth~ Someday I would like to run in Central Park!

Nikki~ Great race! It's also great that you have a friend in Chicago to stay with. We are going to sign up for the Chicago Rock and Roll half if you want to join us...or let us know about other races.

AFM~ Another busy weekend for us.... two birthday parties, Liz's run club end of the year party, went to see Megamind in the theater, and we had our race on Sunday! Liz and I ran 8 miles together on Saturday.

Panting for Paws 5K race report: It was a cold and windy morning and I wore four layers on top! The course was exactly the same as the March of Dimes race that I did in April. It was flat and wound through a park on a trail of crushed limestone. Everyone was freezing and it took quite awhile to get warmed up. The wind was pretty much constant and the temp was in the 30's. We all lined up side by side for the start and waited for the gun, as we couldn't quite hear the announcements over the gusts. I hit mile marker one at 8:37 and made it to mile two at 17:15 so I was pretty constant in my pace. Rounding the last turn, it was hard to see as my eyes were tearing up from the wind. I finished in 26:20 with a new PR with a pace of 8:30!! I must have been motivated by the cold! :goodvibes Liz also got a PR, which I'll let her tell you about! :cheer2: And once again, my beautiful wife finished a race and made a new friend while running it. I will never figure out how she does this. The girl knew our names, ages, and how long we were married by the end, where Liz introduced her to me! :confused3 I think it's a hidden superpower or something... I barely talk to anyone as I am too busy sucking wind!

Hope everyone is having a great day, Mike :cool2:

Can it really be less than 2 months to Goofy? Once again I'll go untrained, Ill be able to finish but I would love to have a few longer walks under my belt than 6 milers.

Since it's my Sally's first day of work I'll have supper ready for her, shake and bake pork chops, asparagus and baked sweet potatoes. For breakfast in the morning I'll have cinnamon rolls for her. Last night we had pasta and salad that she made.

We ordered a wall unit entertainment center from Penney's yesterday, they had a $1600 one on sale for $699 and we got an online sale code for another 20% off, couldn't resist.

Dave:hippie:

Hello, everyone!

*Hope, my oldest daughter saw the cupcake pic and said that you couldn't have picked a better one; she now has plans to find the same one when she goes. ;) Sorry that you weren't feeling well while at WDW. Glad that you were able to have some birthday fun in spite of it.

*Mike, how was Megamind? My kids are asking to go this weekend.

*Margie and Nikki, great race!

*Nikki, hope you are recovered from your fall.

Sunday I finished my first 10k in 1:28. Shin splints plagued me after mile 1 and I never recovered from them so I walked most of the race. I never experience this problem while training, only on race day. :confused3 I also had difficulty breathing well; I am now sick with a cold so that must explain the breathing problem. However, it was a beautiful 70 degree day shared with friends so it wasn't all bad!

Dave, I will be undertrainned also but hoping unlike last year to go in uninjuried. Someone (actually a few people) gave me some great advise last year, better to go in undertrainned then injuried ;)

PF has been on and off all year but (touch wood) superstitous thing;) not as bad as last year. Got a 16M this weekend so that will be a good test on how my food does.

Good Morning Team & hello to all!

Dave, Congrats to Sally's new job! Nice score on the ent. unit. Got to love sales!

Kim, Glad to see you back.

Mike, Nice race report/ results!

Nikki, DD also fell down the stairs on the weekend. PD for a quick recovery.

The weather is suppose to turn this afternoon into a major rainstorm. Don't know if I will be getting my run in & I can't face the dreadmill at the gym. So I will have to see.

I am off to Chicago :woohoo: Have a great week/ weekend everyone. Get out there & enjoy those training miles.........Sue

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – Hope you had a good weekend – the CW-X winter tights should be just the thing!

Mike – Congrats on the PR on your race!

Sue – Have fun in Chicago!

Hope – Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you enjoyed Food and Wine – we sure did, even though the crowds were terrible!
Connie –

Elizabeth – Feel better soon!

Nikki – Great race report!

Dave – I am surprised that you do not know Tonga Toast – it is a very common post race breakfast! 2 inch thick slice of sourdough bread, stuffed with bananas, battered as French Toast and deep fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar! (at the Kona Café, Poly) Congrats to Sally on her new job!

Margie – My favorite recovery drink is chocolate milk, I have not liked any of the commercial ones I have tried!

Kim – Hi!

Beth – Hope your fundraising weekend was successful!

Emily –Good luck with the house!

AFM – We had a great time at Food and Wine, we met up with lots of friends! We did LOTS of walking! The weather was beautiful – sunny, highs of mid 70’s. We came home to about 2 inches of snow and rain and snow and wind forecast for today! Looks like most of my exercise will be inside, but will get dogs out at least around the block! I will just get unpacked and it will be time to pack for the next trip! Talk about being untrained – I have not done a walk longer than 3 miles since last months half marathon, and Scott has done even less, although we have done some longer bike rides. At least there is no real time limit for the Space Coast Half (the time limit is the same for the half as for the full).

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good morning, TEAM!

Man, get sick for a few days and BINGO! you miss so much!!! There were birthdays and races and Veterans Day and trips to WDW, new jobs, and all kinds of things! Let me just say, CONGRATS to you ALL!!!

We went to OKC and then I got some sort of stomach thing. My grandkids all had it and apparantly they share. :guilty:

But I am up and going today! I have managed to get all my Christmas shopping done. I think......it's all done. Maybe.... I MAY have gotten all of my Christmas shopping done. :santa: I do 98% of it online. I get so many discounts and free shipping deals that it makes it very worthwhile, since i live in the sticks!

Better get outta here and get started on the all stuff I haven't done!

See ya - Connie
