Hakuna Matata - Gobbling up the pavement and thankful we can!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – We just got a dusting, it is pretty today with the sun out and no wind (so far), but not so much yesterday afternoon with the snow and the wind. I am also a needle-phobe, but acupuncture worked wonders on my headaches! I never saw the needles going in, so it was tolerable. You also cannot feel the needles after they have been placed, just the prick of them going into the skin.

Mike – Thanks for the race report. Sounds like a fun race, especially the chocolate at the end! Good luck on your race this weekend!

Sue – Glad to hear that you enjoyed Wicked.

Connie – Hi!

Elizabeth – Glad you got to extend your birthday – Scott celebrates for at least 2 weeks! I wear wool socks in the winter, my favorite are “Smart Wool”, they are not particularly cheap, but my toes are very important to me! I get them at SierraTradingPost.com, so I do not pay full price for them. Good luck on your race this weekend!

Nikki – Sounds like you really enjoyed your clinical experience. It soon will be cold enough to try out that jacket – this cold weather should be headed your way.

Dave – How does it feel not having to drive across the state?

Margie – No race this weekend – this will be our first trip to WDW with no race in about 4 years! Scott just missed Food and Wine – so this is a last minute, short trip to catch the last weekend of Food and Wine.

Beth – Have fun on your day off tomorrow!

Mary – Happy Birthday!

Gerry – Good luck on your race this weekend!

AFM – I got in a short walk with the dogs yesterday before the snow started, I was still in winter gear – with the wind chill, the temp was 14 degrees! It was just starting to snow when we were out. I then did 15 min walking backwards on the treadmill, 30 min on the bike and 15 min of weights. Today there is just a dusting of snow on the ground, it is sunny but cold, so far, no wind. I will get out for another short dog walk before I take them to the kennel. We are headed to Denver as soon as Scott gets off work, and he thinks he might get out early, so I will be ready to leave anytime after noon. I probably won’t be posting for the rest of the week, so everyone have a great week and see you next Tuesday.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

I did 6 miles with my race walking buds and then Sally and I did an an hour together. My foot isn't real happy right now but I don't think I did any damage.

I'm taking Sally for an hour at a time right now but next week we are going to an hour and 15 min then in 2 weeks to an hour and a half. In December we will do at least one 2 hour walk and hopefully more than one.

Lynn, it feels great not to have to travel anymore and it's especially nice that I don't have to drive 60 miles to pick up Sally for a date either. The days that I would work till 9pm drive 2.5 hours home, get 4 hours sleep, meet my walkers for 6 miles and then clean up and drive to Nashville to see Sally, was just about to much. Live is much more better good.

Everyone have a magical day.

Hello everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!!!:banana::banana::banana::woohoo::woohoo:

Elizabeth~ I can't remember how much the Hot Chocolate race was, I signed up for it quite awhile ago and it is no longer listed on the website. Do you travel for races? Registration opens tomorrow for the Soldier Field 10 miler for 2011 (May 28th). It's a fun race, right on Lake Michigan's waterfront, and ends on the 50 yard line of the Chicago Bears stadium. Both Liz and I will be doing in next year.

Thanks for all the PD for my Mom. It is really appreciated!

-Mike :cool2:

Oops, Sorry Elizabeth, Nikki asked about the race fee.... I need more caffine.

Mike- I live in south west Michigan so getting to Chicago wouldn't be a problem! I actually have a friend with an apartment on Michigan Ave near the water tower with a bed open for me! I'll think about the Soldier Field run. I have to see how it falls with the Kalamazoo 1/2 marathon I'm doing in May with Margie!

Have a good night everyone!

Hello Team!

Regina - Congrats on the new job! I hope it is going well.

Mike - Sorry to hear about your mom's eye problems. Hopefully the injections are effective. WTG on the 15k!

Dave & Sally - Congrats on your wedding!

Elizabeth - Happy Belated Birthday!

Vicky - The cake class sounds fun. I took one a few years ago and really liked it. I only learned how to use buttercream though, I want to learn how to use fondant someday.

Beth - Glad you had fun working the water stop. I worked the Los Angeles Rock N Roll half a few weeks ago. I was at the Mile 1 stop so it was just a wall of people for ~45 min. One of the volunteers saw Jerry O'Connell but I didn't recognize any celebrities.

Margie - The zip lining sounds great. I've always wanted to do that.

Mary - Happy Birthday!

Nikki - WTG on your run! Glad you enjoyed your clinical.

Lynn - I'm a little jealous you have snow. I think about how I miss it and then remember than snow means cold. I've definitely acclimated to the So Cal climate. It's in the upper 40s at night right now and I'm freezing. Have fun at WDW!

AFM - We put in an offer on a house! Our realtor said we should hear something by Monday. But, it's a bank-owned property so it could take longer than that.

I did 30 min on the elliptical Monday night. But that's it so far this week. Want to get out for a walk at some point, but with the time change it's dark when I get home from work and I am not a morning exerciser. Also, it's a bit chilly here this week.

I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picutre, so you can see our Halloween costumes.

Have a good night!

Morning all! And thanks to our veterans!

Last night ended up being a small (very few people showed up for various reasons - I hold it against none of those who ran the marathon on Sunday!) fun run, but it was good. We have a policy on the Wednesday night ones that we wait at the Daniel Webster statue for everyone before heading back to the church where we can change and store our stuff for the run. And we typically tell people where we're running just as a precaution. I did 2 laps of the lower loop - my total distance with warm-up and cool-down was 4.04 miles. The first couple of 3:2 intervals felt great, then I started feeling draggy and blech. I wanted to quit, but I didn't. And somewhere in the 6th or 7th interval things clicked back into place and I finished feeling great! Love runs like that!

Oh...and my name is officially in the lottery for the 2011 NYC Marathon! I think they will draw sometime after April 19 - that's what the website says. The email I got with my lottery number said mid-March. So sometime in March or April I'll know if I'm in via lottery or if I'm going to be running for a charity. I'll let you know whichever it ends up being. I'm hopefully less than a week from finding out about the NYC Half - that lottery closes at 11:59pm on Monday. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!

Today is a scheduled rest day for me (since I did my run last night). I'll probably head into Manhattan sometime mid-afternoon to do a little shopping and then I've got a meeting at church. But no big workouts planned. Hope everyone has a great day!

In Honor of all of our Veterans!
Those who served and those now serving!
We Thank you for the sacrifices you made for us!

David Kirgan,

Armistice Day Becomes Veterans Day
World War I officially ended on June 28, 1919, with the signing of
the Treaty of Versailles. The actual fighting between the Allies and
Germany, however, had ended seven months earlier with the armistice,
which went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.

Armistice Day, as November 11 became known, officially became a holiday
in the United States in 1926, and a national holiday 12 years later. On
June 1, 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all U.S. veterans.

Good morning y'all.

Thank you Margie. Our country, as with all countries, are filled with heroes. We don't have to be facing bullets and bombs to be heroes. Just keeping going day after day and living the way you know is right and being who you must be for yourself and others makes a hero in my book.

Although I have the flag, in a nice wooden case, in my living room, that flew over our nations capital, on the day I retired. I value a lot of memories just as much as I do the events that transpired in uniform.

Crossing the finish line with Lynn and sharing the experience of her first marathon. Finishing a half marathon side by side with Kim and sharing a meal after when we are doing our rat killing are very precious memories for me.

There is so much life to experience and to share with people you care about. Our Disney trips are examples of those kind of unforgetable times. Even last January when we braved the horrid weather we still have good memories from the trip.

This will be my first trip with a new companion and Sally's first trip so it will be a journey filled to over flowing with good memories.

Have a magical day guys.

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky, Saw your post about tights. Have you gone into cw-x's or running free's wedsite. Many different styles depending on the area you want to support. I bought for quads/ hammies. You will probably want the one for knees.
As I said before they are "tight". There is no comparison in the compression compared to other brands. The support/ compression comes from creating a "web" supporting the various areas. I only wear them for my long runs/ races. Running Free also had Skins & I think Saucony but I didn't like the fit etc of these.

Margie, Is this the first race you had done since Jan.? Have fun.

Emily, Nice costumes. Hope things work out on the house offer.

Beth, More pd for getting entry into your races. Waiting to find out that long would drive my crazy.

Scott/Lynn, Have a great time at F&W.

AFM, Had a good 9 miler last night. Felt great but time was a little slower than I wanted. Out again tonight for 5.
Have a great evening everyone...........Sue

Thanks Sue!

I'm hoping the charities may be announced before they do the lottery drawing for the full - if so I will probably pick one and see if I can register and then change to an affiliated runner if I do get picked in the lottery. Apparently there's some feeling that NY-area residents have less of a chance in the lottery, but at least the first 10 drawn in the Marathon Monday Madness thing were from the NY and NJ area, so I'm not sure that's true. We shall see!

Hopefully I'll hear about the Half in the next week or so. I'm about settled on Ottawa for a spring half if I don't get into NYC's half

Ok we made it to WDW, met up with wish folks last night and will head fro tonga toast this morning, I did an easy 2 miles this morn,

Hope the new job is less stress and fewer hours.

Scott-WTG getting a 2-miler in.
Enjoy the Tonga Toast!

Sue-WTG on your 9-miler.
Yes, 1st race since January. That is only because it is 2½ miles
from my house. DD has had a better week. And they usually go
home for one night during the week. I was able to do the scrap
booking weekend, (that was only 1/2 an hour away) as they went
to his parents for the weekend. But right now it is impossible for
me to plan being out of town even for a day.

Vicky-

AFM:Just another Normal day-only 2 little guys.
For their outing they want to go to the Mall and ride the Carousel.

Need to get out the door to the Gym this morning-

Hi team! Happy Friday everyone! I'm heading out of town for the weekend so I'll catch up with everyone when I'm back on Monday. I probably won't do any running this weekend but I figure it will give me another few days to rest my knee.

Hope - Happy birthday! Eat lots of Disney treats today :)

Emily - Great costumes!

Sue - I'm going to get a pair of CW-X winter tights. They're under $100 at Running Warehouse so I'm going to see if I can ship them to someone in the US and have it sent back up to me.

Anyway, I'll catch up with everyone else after the weekend!

Ok excuse my denseness but what the heck is tonga toast? I'm assuming it's a Disney speciality from somewhere???

Sally and aI got in the 1 hr training walk. Tomorrow is her rest day and she is ready. Sunday we will start 1 hr and 10 min training walks. I'm going to have her ready for her half. Now if I could just get my act together and lose the 30lbs I need to...

Sally is going for a job interview today at the book store and monday she has an interview for switchboard operator for the hospital, it's just part time but a foot in the door.

I'm getting back to normal at my store since my travels to Paducah are over, I will miss the extra money but the shorter hours will be put to good use.

Dave:hippie:

Good Afternoon Team!

Dave, It's on Kona's menu at the Poly. Banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar. Never had it personally but everyone seems to rave about it. :confused3
Good luck to Sally on her interviews.

Vicky, Have a great weekend.

Hope, Happy Birthday. Enjoy your day.

Margie, Did you make it to the gym?

To all this weekend racers....Have a great time!

Nothing exciting to report. An uneventful 5 miler last night & spin class tonight.
Have a great weekend everyone.........Sue
