Good morning guys.

I was just thinking how much has changed for me over the last year. I will start Nov, a year from my seperation, with a new home and a new lady. Right now time seems to stand still waiting for the nest to close so we can move in. But even though a lot has changed a lot has stayed the same. I still value health and fitness, I have stable work and of course love my travels.

I'm headed off to Paducah for my 3 days there. I'll do a training walk tonight after work. It's only a week till the state games which are the senior olympic trials so I have to try real hard not to hurt anything. A whacked muscle wouldn't be good right now.

I hope our Kimmer and Vicky have a good race today. One day I will do it with them.

Everyone have a magical day.

Dave:hippie:

Hi Everyone!

Mary~ No worries! If you can, call me before the race and we can meet up beforehand or pick a landmark for afterwards. My first cruise was on the Grandeur, I love that ship! It's beautiful, big, but also intimate and relaxing! Have fun!

Vicky and Sue ~ Hope the race went well!

Elizabeth~ Congratualtions on your first 5K! GREAT JOB!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Margie~ DD, Wow Naval graduate!

Emily~ good luck with all your chores and errands!

AFM~ Ran my 5K (Run for the Bear) today in 26:39, pace was 8:30. No PR but close! I will be volunteering at mile marker 10 at the Chicago marathon on the 10th of October. I can't wait to see the leaders streaking by! I just have to figure out where to park as the roads will be closed. :confused3

Hey gang. We survived. I didn't see Vicky...that is the first time that has happened before a race on Canadian soil. Even thought we have never planned to meet up we always to, but not today:sad2: However, I know she rocked it, I will let her tell you her time.

Mike and I where at 3:20:12 and considering we just did the 1/2 last weekend I will take it, actually we knocked over 6 mins off last weeks time.

I almost thought I was going to give up, this race does it too me every time for some reason, started out way to fast and got super killer shin splints in both shins....got them right from the first 100m and kept them until almost the 4K mark. Almost told DH and DS to go on without me, but the tylonel must have kicked in. Then about the 10K mark the PF flaired up huge but that only lasted for about 2K so all in all extremely happy with my time. By K#16 - 20 I was singing out loud....I had everyone around me laughing or singing along so it was all good.

OOppppss dinner is ready got to run. Have a great sunday all

And what were you singing Kimmer? "Redneck Woman", "Bad to the Bone", "Born to be Wild"....

It's chilly up here in Northern Ky, in the low 50s. Burrrrr

Dave:hippie:

/
Panda - 55 Chilly?? that is refreshing!

Miranda and I went out for 4 miles yesterday with the baby in her running stroller.

As usual it started to mist when we were almost to the furthest point in our walk. Not rain so we "braved" it.

A bonus, Miranda spied a couple of books that were free at the curb in a box, Quilting and super abs. She grabbed both and we yelled thanks to the house that had left them.

Tonight back to the weight routine - dinner and an early night. MMMMMM, I think DWTS is tonight, may not be that early after all.

Good Morning Team!

Margie – Janet Evanovich is one of my favorite authors – she makes me laugh! I really enjoy her books, her Stephanie Plum series as well as the others. That book is the 11th in the series, but I think I would still enjoy reading that as the first one. (But then I would have to go back to the first one and read them all). We always called them “keys-hounds”, one of my dogs I say has a keeshond tail – it is curled much too tight for a malamute.

Denise – great job on the weight loss! And the workouts! Have fun seeing “Wicked”, we have seen it once and really enjoyed it.

Mary – more pixie dust for your cold!!! Have a great cruise!

Emily – sounds like you had a great weekend planned, hope it panned out!

Elizabeth – congrats on your race!

Vicky – if the tape you are talking about is Kinesio tape, it will last a week or more, depending on how it was put on, I used to use it on my knees. Good luck with your auditions this week, hope you find what you are looking for!

Vicky and Kim – Congrats to you both on your race!

Kim – thanks for your race report, sorry that you had problems, but glad to see that you overcame them!

Mike – Congrats on your race!

Dave – Have an easy week, do not get injured!

AFM – Visit with Scott’s parents went well. On Sunday after they left, we went for a long bike ride, yes, with Scott’s new bike, he was just breezing along, I would be pedaling like crazy, and I could hear him behind me just coasting, - then wanting to know why we were going so slowly! Today I will be heading out for 3 miles, it is going to be hot today – 80’s all week! So I need to get out before it gets too hot. It is rather windy today also, not bad for the walk, will keep it comfortable, but not great for bike riding.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hi team! Well I ran in the Scotiabank half marathon yesterday morning and finished with another PB 2:08:52 which is about 3 minutes off my Disney in January and a 7 minute improvement from the Scotia half last year.

Yesterday was the perfect morning to run - the sun was out but stayed low for most of the race, the temps were cool but not uncomfortable and there was very little wind coming off the lake.

The start of the race was crowded! Ok, well it was my fault for thinking I could show up 5 minutes before 7:30. I think I've just been use to doing smaller races this year and forgot that in bigger races I have to get into the corrals well before. I found the green corral which was the second last and it was bursting at the seams - literally! Runners were spilled out the exits because they didn't all fit into the corral. If I do Scotia next year, I'm just going to put a finishing time of 1:50 and start one corral head or just show up late and start one corral behind. Needless to say I never found the 2:00 pacer but did see a bunch go by before I could enter the corral.

I ended up behind the 2:15 pacer and had to do a lot of passing to get around them. The problem with the pace groups is that they're like a wall. Everyone is spread out and they're usually quite big. Come to think of it, the race felt a lot more crowded this year - usually there are breaks in the course where it's easier to move around but I felt like the roads were packed up to the 6K point without much room to pass.

My knee started acting up early on in the race (6K) so I figured I'd just go as hard as I could for as long as possible. I eventually caught up to the 4:15 marathon group and I passed them but I was still behind. I hit the 10K mat at 58 minutes and knew I couldn't make up the 3 minutes. The course turnaround is slightly uphill and I usually have a difficult time with it. I managed to stay ahead of the 4:15 group until 15K and then just joined them. My knee was really in pain by the time I reached the point in the course where the half and the marathon split apart. I was so glad to be running the half because I wouldn't have made the full.

I reached the bottom of Bay and Lakeshore Road (1K remaining?) at 2:00. I tried to run the rest of the course but just kept stopping because I felt like I couldn't go anymore. At the 400 meter mark, I got passed by some really (REALLY) old guy who was wogging along. Always seems to happen to me no matter what race I'm in :) Anyway, I decide I can't get passed or finish behind him so I start running and telling myself that 400m is just a lap around the track. So I finished in 2:08:52 which is a personal PB and a course PB too! I was a little disappointed at first but realized the time was only about 2 minutes off from the McMillan predicted time so I figured it wasn't too bad. I'm just not looking forward to see the race pictures. I think there are a lot of me on course grimmacing and looking unhappy

Got a nasty calf cramp though as I was stepping up onto curb to enter exit the finish area. Never had that happen before so it had me a little worried. I went to the medic tent. My physio worked there last year and said they would give me a mini massage but no such luck :( I got the "It happens..." and they sent me on my way.

I have pictures of my medal and me but they're on a camera and not my iPhone so I haven't uploaded them yet.

Kim - I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see you guys before the start :( It was really my fault for getting to the start so late. I did keep trying to look out for WISH shirts on the turnaround. And I would have loved to walk with you while you were singing! Sounds like it was a blast!!

Lynn and I got in a 10.5 miles bike ride tonight, a bit of wind but not bad.

Have a good evening.

Vicky, great report and well done, you rock.

Good Morning!

Good morning guys.

Vicky you are a tough little lady. I need some of that toughness myself today. I've picked up a stomach bug or a dose of food poisioning and can't take the time to curl into a ball and whimper. I have a 12 hr shift today and then a 2 and a half hr drive home tonight. Then my famous 5 hrs sleep and off to train with my race walkers, shower and another 12 hr shift. EEEEK!!

Kimmer I knew you were a frantic, just didn't know what kind.:cloud9:

Everyone have a magical week and stay out of trouble.

Connie-Welcome Home!

Dave-:pixiedust: sorry to hear you have a flu bug.

Kim-:thanks: for the Great Race Report!

Lynn-glad you had a great short visit.
How many blueberries and what's the plan for them. :goodvibes
Have not had time to read the book. I did sign out The
Grand Finale' a plug and play book from the library yesterday.
At least I can listen to something (when alone) when working.
When I first seen the dogs I though they were malamute.
The two Keeshond Max & Ruby - seem to be friendly and
good with children. They did put up an invisible fence.

Regina-

Good Morning Team!

Margie – Lots of blueberries, we will use them in muffins and pancakes mostly. I use audio books from the library all the time around the house, chores are so much more tolerable when you are listening to a book!

Vicky – Great race report! Congrats on the PB, sorry that you had some difficulties.

Dave – Pixie dust for you, hope you feel better!

Gerry – Welcome!

AFM – Only did a short walk (1.27 miles) yesterday morning, wind was strong 25-35mph, and dogs did not seem to want to walk farther. Scott and I did a 10 mile bike ride (he was half a mile longer because he kept riding circles around me because he rides much faster than I do) last night, the wind had died down and it was quite pleasant. For Mike – today’s high is record breaking – upper 80’s to low 90’s, wind should be mild.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Team!

Congrats to last weekend racers. Nice work & pbs!

Rainy today! Don't know if I will be running outside tonight. Maybe I will take the night off. Last night was pilates. I hadn't been in a long time. My planks were strong but I sure stink at push ups.

Vicky, Great race report. Totally agree about the very congested start.
I am so sick of all the post race whining about traffic tie-ups. Did you hear Rob Ford's comments.........These events should be in parks. How does one hold a race with 20,000 people running 21 or 42k in park.

Need to run to a meeting.......Have a great day everyone!..........Sue

Hi team! It's a grey and rainy day here - I've also noticed a few trees that are already changing colours. I guess fall is around the corner!

Sue - I heard about Ford on 680 News. He's never run in or watched a marathon before quite clearly. I think he made those comments to try and appease all the drivers who got stuck downtown on Sunday. I hope the drivers know that Word on the Street was the same weekend as well. The Toronto Women's Half is held in a park and I think they cap the race at 1,000 participants and that's a tight squeeze as it is. The paths get split in two and there's still regular park traffic mixing in with the runners. I doubt the organizers of the race would let it get moved to a park - they'd never be able to attract any elite runners.

Lynn - WTG on the 10 miler ride! I'm wishing we had some of your weather! Any other fruit you're planning on harvesting in the near future? I love blueberry pancakes!! You and Scott are always eating something yummy!

Margie - I'm going to see my physio today. He'll probably do a treatment but I know he's going to say that the best thing is rest. So I'll probably take another week off and see if that makes a difference. I have the 10K coming up so I want to be ready for that as well. The tape stayed on more or less but got really itchy on Saturday night so I ended up taking it off and using the patella brace. How's Sara today?

Dave - pixiedust: Hope you feel better soon! Don't eat anything too heavy - stick with crackers, jello, apple juice and chicken noodle soup! Here's hoping your work day goes by quickly!

Gerry - Have fun on your cruise!

Regina - How was the 5K on the weekend? Did you get any ideas for your race? Are you ready for W&D :)

AFM - I'm holding the auditions today so I hope things go well. There have been a few snafus with the producers that I'm not happy about but after today, I'm pretty much done with them. I'm hoping we get some good actors coming out today! Will post a report tomorrow!

I'm also going have a training session today and have my physio look at my knee. Hoping things go well there too!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hi Team!

Vicky and Kim~ Thanks for the great race reports and GREAT JOB on the runs! :woohoo:

Lynn~ Maybe you need a new bike also? Scott wouldn't really mind, would he?

Dave~ Who wants to stay out of trouble? Hope that you feel better! I know what it feels like to be sick and still have to keep moving.

Gerry~ Good job volunteering! Have fun at the MK 5K!

AFM~ Ran six today with a pace of 9:12. Tomorow errands and packing for this weekend, Thursday I might hop the train into Chicago for a look at the new Disney Store opening today. A little extra Disney never hurt (and they are giving out a free pin!) Liz is really sick and stayed home from work yesterday.

Gotta go and pick up Robert at preschool, Mike :cool2:
