Hakuna Matata - Fall-ing into the cool race season!

Hi team!

Just wanted to make a quick post before DH and I head out for our trip. We are taking a cruise with his parents and his brother and his DW. Sadly, it is on RCCL, not Disney. Oh well. DH's parents are 83 and 79, so we decided last spring to all take a trip together while they are still in good health. You never know...

I, on the other hand, can feel myself coming down with a chest cold. We were with our grandgals last weekend for a birthday, and our oldest one had a cold. I think she shared with her Memaw (me). I'm hoping that it will all be better by the time we get off the ship and head to Disney for the Wine and Dine half.

Figment82...Sorry, can't remember your actual name, but will keep my eyes open for you at the half relay. DH and I are bib #10299. I plan to wear a sleeveless WISH shirt. Are you running the first or second leg?

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week. I'll try to post again before we leave FL on Saturday.

Good Morning, Team! :wave2:

Currently 69° / 82 % humidity
Mostly Cloudy / High of 87° Too Hot for this time of year!

September:

Yesterday, Sept. 22, 2010, was the first day of fall for North America and that means the autumn equinox is fast approaching.
The autumnal equinox, signifying the sun being in line with the equator, officially takes place at 11:09 p.m. Eastern Time tonight (3:09 a.m. UTC on Sept. 23, 2010).

President Obama Heath Care Changes go into effect

depends on our dispositions and not our circumstances.” Martha Washington

Connie-:wave2: must have opted to stay in the mountains. :confused3

Dave- WTG on a good walk, and getting the most out of all
the minutes in the day!

Denise-Ouch!
WTG getting DH to join you in your workout!
Sending pixiedust: for Mark!

Lynn- Happy-Happy cleaning - it will be so nice when completed!
Had to laugh at the need for a major counter clean off.
I do not know what is worse spending the time to digs things out of
the cabinets Or the days we have to clean up!
My counters were cleaned off the other day.
I threaten to toss out anything that was left laying on them.

Mike- WDW expenses do add up. :sad1:
I spent enough last year to more than pay for the new
furnace on WDW Marathon weekend in January!

Regina- :hugs:

Scott-Safe Travels-hope a ride is scheduled! :goodvibes

Sue-:thanks: DD has a lot of pain-the Pain Clinic is
now trying a machine to see if it will help. :upsidedow

Vicky- :hugs:

AFM: Oh My Gosh- trying to change the 3-filters on my
Kinetico Home Water System last night. Cannot manage to
loosen the one with the VOC MAC Metered Filter!
Not serious on the list of frustrations but it was not a good
way to end the day. :rolleyes1

Long day yesterday-I am wondering what normal will be when I find it.
DD now has the (electric) PI Select Pain Management System – TENS Device.
Hope this helps!

Good Morning Team!

Dave, That is some busy schedule!

Margie, Did I beat posting before you again? Did you make the gym today?

Lynn, NCIS, Never have taken thetime to watch but it is the type of show I know I would like. I should really PVR it sometime.
We leave for Disney 2 wks today. This weekend I will also be in the cleaning mode. I can't stand coming home to a messy house. Your cleaning sounds a little more thorough than mine.

Mary, PD for your cold. Hope you feel better before the cruise. What itinerary/ship are you sailing? We are sailing RC next Oct. I will be looking for your trip report. We have only cruised DCL before.

Vicky & Kim, Have a great time on Sun. Weather looks good. How are the aches & pains feeling?

AFM, Spin class last night was :thumbsup2. I felt really good. Running 5 tonight & spin on Friday. Going to take Sat. off for a nice break.

Have a great day everyone. Happy training...........Sue

I am tired of work travel, the last two days were good and I was able top get out for a run/walk and they had bikes for us to use.

Really ready to get home and get a normal routine down.

Dave since you have all this great moving experience, we are moving my office, wanna come out and help.....

Hope to be home by 5 or 6 tonight and want to get a bike ride in even if it is just 5 miles..

Get better one and all, enjoy life.

Hi team! Just came back from a presentation that was done by two local restaurants. I was invited by one of the EAs on our floor so I got a free lunch! Yummy! Kim and Sue will recognize Lone Star and Big Daddy's - they brought in fajitas, jambalaya, smoked salmon sandwiches and tortilla chips. We also got goodie bags too! So it was lots of fun!

I'm going for training tonight and then out with my relatives for dinner.

Scott - I was going to ask about your knee but you must be doing well if you're doing run/walk intervals. Hope you're not too busy and are able to get in your bike ride :)

Sue - Last year, I would have said Lost but am not sure for this year. I taped the first episode of Hawaii 5-0 and will tape CSI tonight. Actually I love watching the Real Housewives of ... series. It's really a guilty pleasure! Knee seems to be doing okay but I haven't run on it yet. Here's hoping a week's rest will pay off on Sunday (knock on wood!).

Margie - pixiedust: for Sara! I hope the new equipment is helpful. What are you going to do about the water filters? Maybe the screws just need the right wrench (or whatever they're called - can you tell I'm really handy!) to losen them up. I had that problem with the cable connection that went into my TV. I had tightened it too much and it wouldn't come off unless I used tools. Can Rodney come in and help you to losen and replace the filters?

Mary - Safe travels! I hope you have a blast on your cruise! Hope your cold is gone by then!

Lynn - WTG on your kitchen cleaning and the mileage! Your house is going to be spotless and in tip top shape in no time at all!

Denise - Ouch! Hope it's a quick and painless recovery!

Dave - You're super busy! What's your move-in date? The cold is slowly going away and should be completely gone by Sunday! Hooray!

Mike - I think you should use that week of vacation for a warm destination if you're using it in the winter. I've been reading a couple of other posts where people are saying that they're also just doing the weekend in January.

Kim - Expo tomorrow!! What's on your shopping list :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Vicky – Scotia Toronto Marathon / Half Marathon

Elizabeth – 5K

We are cheering for you!

Hi Team!

Eva, Figment82, and Mary~ Where will you be staying for the wine and dine half? I want to make sure to meet up with you! Mary, how did you find out what your bib number is? I will be at ASMusic with Regina and her DH next door at ASMovies.

Dave~ You are officially busier than I am! I'm impressed!

Margie~ I hope that your DD will respond to the pain medication in a positive way.
My prayers to you and your family. I know you have a busy schedule, but thought this might interest you...at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, they have a special exhibit on the Muppets and Jim Henson through January 23rd. I know it's a long drive, but thought you might like to go if you get a break.

Vicky~ Hope your cold goes away and, yeah! to the free lunch!

AFM~ I ran ten today with a time of 1:35:31. It was hot today and had to walk a little bit. Pace was 9:33. I don't have a day off until I leave for WDW on next Friday. But as of 630 am Friday morning, I will be on my way! I will be wearing my WISH tank top and a black visor at the race.

/
Mary, sent you a PM with my Cell number. Feel free to call me if you want to meet up! I'll arrive Friday Oct 1st!

The soreness is finally setting in from carrying those heavy boxes up and down stairs, I still can't believe I made it up the stairs with some of that stuff.

I didn't workout today but in the morning I'm going to do a good training walk. I'm following an every other day workout schedule so I'll not be injured on the 2nd of Oct when I take on the best walkers in the state and get another chance to toe the start against the best in the nation. Fingers crossed that the competition all has a bad hair day.

Mike I sure wish I could make the Wine and Dine. But dang I have so much going on right now I can't remember where I live half the time. I'll find a way to go in January.

Everyone have a magical evening.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Mary – have fun on the cruise, and pixie dust for your cold!

Margie – the counters will not stay cleaned off very long, it is too much trouble to get out the folding steps to reach the stuff I stuffed into the high shelves (the only place there was room in my cabinets). Pixie dust for your DD.

Vicky – the house is now clean, except for the den, which is where I threw everything I had to move out of other rooms, and the 2nd guest room in the basement, which is my “packing” room, and the bed there is still covered with stuff for the next trip that needs to be packed. Sounds like a great lunch!

Vicky and Kim – good luck on you race!

Mike – good job on your training – as always!

Dave – take care of those muscles, we want you in good shape for your race!

AFM – skipped the walk yesterday, I was planning to go later in the day, it was really windy and cool, so I was waiting for it to warm up – then, when I should have gone out, I started the oven on a clean cycle, and I hate to leave the house when the oven is in a clean cycle, by the time it was done, Scott was due home any minute. No bike ride either – wind was still blowing 20mph (gusting to 30) when he got home. I did finish the house cleaning (with the exceptions noted above), so I feel ready for house guests! Today I will go out walking shortly, then shopping and a lunch party at Scott’s office. Scott’s parents should arrive late tonight.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning, Team! :wave2:

Currently 77° / 54% humidity and it is balmy
Rain/Cloudy/Wind (occasionally gust over 40 mph) High of 76°
Yes, you are seeing that correctly - the current temperature
is higher than the forecasted high!

“The greater part of our happiness or misery
depends on our dispositions and not our circumstances.” Martha Washington

Connie-We miss you - 3 weeks in the mountains is a long time!

Dave- hope you had a good training walk!

Lynn-hope you were able to get your cleaning done and now you can relax and enjoy the Family!
I know exactly what you mean about the convenience of storage space!

I found a hard cover book 'Eleven on Top' (in my stash) by Janet Evanovich-

Have you read it? I read the first page but was too tired to read more.
Is it any good?

Mike- WTG nice run!
The exhibit sounds really interesting -
"at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago,
they have a special exhibit on the Muppet's and Jim Henson through January 23rd."

I so want to take Hagen to the Aquarium. I was thinking of driving to Michigan City
and taking the train into Chicago? I was told the Aquarium was
about 4-blocks from the Train Station. (?)

Regina-

Scott-Are you home?

Sue-I think our post crossed in Space yesterday! :lmao:

Vicky- Jeez-I missed your post! Hope you had a great lunch!
The short version of the filter changes: shut off water to the filters, shut of main
water valve, shut off water to the supply tank, press the red button, turn Blue Filter
canister clockwise to loosen-No Screws.

AFM: Still one filter not changed in my water system.
They are sending out a repairman ... $$
Now printer is malfunctioning...hummm it is so exciting just
waiting to see what will happen next!

DD now has the EMPI Select Pain Management System –
TENS Device. So far I am not seeing anything positive!

I’m here, did my lower body work out last night. I do the Joyce Vedral DVD. One day upper, and day lower and light weights. Mark has joined me in the weight training program since he can’t do any powerwalking with his foot still hurting. Mark agreed the lower body – abs especially is much harder to do. One step at a time!

I’m watching what I eat and have lost about 1lb a week. I guess I shouldn’t complain since at least I’m not gaining 1 lb a week! Wish it were more.

May do some miles with Miranda over the weekend but we’ll see how things go – mostly for her, I’m usually available.

Have a great weekend everyone. Wish I was doing the Wine and Dine ½ but I’m not in shape and I’ll be going to Boston to see Wicked with my friends. This will be my 4th time. Yup I do love that play.

denise

Good Friday Afternoon Team!

Denise, Haven't seen Wicked before. We have tickets for November. Looking forward to seeing it. My co-worker raves about it.

Vicky, I :lovestruc Big Daddy's. Haven't been to the one here. When we lived in Ottawa we were regulars.
Could you smell "that smell" downtown this morning? What was that? Are your house guests still here?
Have a great race Sunday.

Margie, Wasn't your printer new? or was that your computer?

AFM, Spinning tonight & 20 miler on Sunday.

Enjoy your training. Have a great weekend everyone...........Sue

Hiya Team!

Margie~ There are actually four train stations in downtown Chicago. I think Union station is the closest to the Aquarium. It's a nice walk through Grant Park along the lakeshore. It's right where the Hot Chcoclate 15k is held. It can be windy if the weather is bad. The Field Museum of Natural History is right next to the Aquarium as well as Soldier Field. A shuttle bus runs along the museum campus area, I think all the way to Navy Pier (with Huge Ferris wheel!) and maybe down to the Museum of Science and Industry.

Dave~ We'll meet up in January! Remember all the great things that you are working towards and the effort of working, driving and training will be more than worth it as your goals become realities! And if things get too overwhelming, do what I do, order a pizza and have a beer!

Lynn~ I like it when you list the weather for your area, we get it the next day! Really, really windy here and much cooler.

AFM~ no workout today as it is a recovery day from my long run yesterday. Liz had to take some friends of ours to the airport in the city. One week from now I will be on the Magical Express bus! :woohoo:

- Mike :cool2:

Hi all!

We have arrived in Ft. Lauderdale and it is raining! Pilot had to make two attempts in order to land. Going to go and get something to eat soon.

Wilbur...We are cruising on the Grandeur of the Seas. It will be our second time on RCCL, the first was on Mariner in 2004. It is a 5 day cruise that goes to Key West, Cozumel, and Coco Cay (RCCL's private island.)

Mike...I'm guessing that by now you've received the email from Disney about printing your waivers, but if not, there is a link on page 99 of the Wine & Dine Half Thread her on the DIS. I would look for it, but my stomach is growling too much right now to think straight! DH and I are staying at the BWV. I got your PM, and we will see. I can't make any promises because we will be with another couple from home.

My cold is no better, but it's no worse either. Thanks for all the prayers and PD. I can still use them!

Hello team! Wow, there is a lot to catch up on since I haven't been posting much the past couple weeks.

Dave - Congrats on the race! I've been to the museum there and I thought it was awesome.

Sue - Congrats on the half as well! My top favortie TV shows are Big Bang Theory and NCIS. DH and I also like to watch Jeopardy, sometimes I think about taking the Jeopardy test but I think I'd choke if I acutally made it on the show.

Lynn - NCIS is one of my favorite shows, too. DH and I tivo it every week. Yay for finishing cleaning the house, hope you enjoy your visit with your family.

Vicky - Good luck at your race this weekend! Hope you are feeling better.

Kim - Good luck for your race!

Margie - pixiedust: for your DD.

Mary - Have fun on your cruise. I hope your cold goes away soon.

Regina - WTG on your run! Have a good time at the 5k this weekend. How goes the running program you volunteered for? We haven't done much house hunting lately, but hopefully we'll go see some houses this weekend.

Denise - Have a good time in Boston! I love Wicked too. I listen to the soundtrack on mp3 player alot.

AFM - Haven't been keeping up on training. My foot is feeling much better though but I haven't tried running yet. Maybe I'll get to that this weekend. I was hoping to go for walk/run with DH tonight but DH went into work late because he waited for the cable guy to show up this morning. Our appointment time was 7-9a and the guy showed up about 9 :headache: DH also had to take his car in since he's been having problems with his brakes and the car will be in the shop until Monday. So, I need to pick him up from work today. I have errands I need to do near his workplace so I'm waiting to go do them until closer to when DH will be done so I only have to make one trip. Lots of stuff do this weekend: laundry, maybe some house hunting, and we're going to a pops concert tomorrow night. Jodi Benson, who voiced the Little Mermaid, will be singing at the concert and there will be a Star Wars tribute! :cool1:

Have a great weekend everyone!
Emily

Happy Friday, everyone!

I'm excited about my first competitive 5k tomorrow. My daughters are both doing the fun runs after my race; I hope I finish in time to watch them start;)

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Sorry all just a quick drive by. Apparentley when you ignore you house all week it is a absolute mess come Sat so lots of housework to do.

Meet up with Vicky for expo and dinner last night. She looks amazing. Great to catch up and get excited for the race on Sunday.

Hope to come back today and catch up. Have a super day all.

Kim

Well I finished my first 5k. I learned a lot from it, foremost that I haven't trained with enough hills on my routes. Still, I finished!

Hi team! Just hanging out in a cafe downtown doing some work before I head off to an appointment. I bought a new netbook which is really nice and portable! It cost only a little bit more than the price of a new battery for my laptop so I figured I might as well get something smaller and portable :)

Elizabeth - Congrats on your 5K! I'm not a fan of hill training myself so I usually have to force myself to run them. But they make a really big difference because after you do a few hill repeats, you'll run a lot faster on the flat courses.

Kim - You look awesome as always! And Mike is so funny! Thanks for driving me home after dinner  I forgot to ask you what you ended up buying at the expo. I bought a bunch of snacks at the Planters booth. I figure those are better for me than treats from Timmies. I also wanted a running skirt and a new waist pack to replace my SpiBelt but had to stop myself from spending lots of money. The tape is still stuck on my leg! I showered with it on and nothing happened :)

Dave - Thanks for the nice FB note!

Emily - Sounds like you've had a busy couple of days! At least the cable guy showed up. I think anytime we need servicing from the phone or cable company, we're told to be at home from 9-5 during on the weekdays! Yikes! What happened to your foot? Keep icing and resting it if you're not running.

Mike - Sure rub it in ;) The weather here is cooling down so I wish I was heading off to Florida too! I like your pizza and beer idea, except I do cupcakes and coffee

Sue - Didn't notice the smell but I walk underground from the subway to my office. Downtown always smells like something funky ... and it's a different smell depending on what part of downtown you're in ;) Good luck with your 20 miler tomorrow!! My aunt and uncle are leaving this afternoon but had gone out with my parents in the morning so I didn't get a chance to say goodbye.

Denise - Have fun in Boston! I've heard good things about Wicked but have never been myself! But it must be good if you've seen it several times!

Lynn - You're another busy gal! Glad you got the house ready in time! I'm sure all that cleaning and organizing counts as cross training!

Margie - Sorry to hear the new machine isn't working out for Sara :( Have the doctors been able to recommend any other alternative treatments? pixiedust: The Jim Henson exhibit sounds like a lot of fun!

Regina - Hope the race goes well! Do you get any goodies for volunteering?

AFM - The race is tomorrow so I'm just taking things easy today. I'm making sure I'm drinking water. I got my knee taped up at the expo yesterday. They actually did it for free and gave me a tech shirt too! I think they were trying to promote the clinic that does the taping and the product itself. So far, the tape has survived a shower. I hope it stays on until tomorrow morning. I'm bringing my patella brace with me anyway.

Oh and I managed to get a space so I'm going to be auditioning actors next week! It should be fun.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:
