Hakuna Matata - Fall-ing into the cool race season!

Happy Anniversary Mike and Liz! Wishing you many more magical years together!!:love:

Happy Monday team! Not much of import to report - I caught a cold on the weekend but after talking with people at the office this morning, it seems like a lot of other people did too. In a way, it might be a good thing - it's going to force me to take it easy this week. My knee isn't too bad but it's not 100% and I want it to be better for Sunday. So I think no more running Sunday. I'm going to have my physio look at it tonight and hopefully he can do something. Otherwise, I'll just have it taped up at expo :)

Liz & Mike - Happy anniversary!!

Elizabeth - Glad to hear that you had fun with your daughter at the race this weekend! On the days when I don't feel like getting out to run, I usually think of all the people who want to run but can't. That usually gives me motivation.

Kim - Congrats on your 1/2! Do you have pictures of the medal? I don't think I've ever come across an easy hill  I am so looking forward to Friday! I was telling someone who's registered for the 5K that I'm jealous of their later start time. I think I'll be up before 5AM eating my breakfast.

Dave - Congrats on your race as well! And yay for the lack of PF issues! Did Sally do the half with you or was she just cheering you on?

Regina - Don't worry about losing your running stamina! The first couple of runs you do after your break might be a bit "sluggish" but after that, you'll get right back into it. I take 2 week breaks all the time during training and nothing happens. If you were off for a month, I'd worry a little bit. Eva and I had that problem with the WISH shirts last year. They are way too short! There's suppose to be another shirt order starting up but I haven't heard anything about it.

Mike - You've got lots of races planned! The 15K sounds fun! Well, I'm a big fan of chocolate so anytime chocolate's involved ...

Scott/Lynn - Where are you guys off to now? Safe travels!!

Margie - Love the daily quotes too! The 8 miler was pretty good. Pacing was a little slow because of the knee and my cold. I didn't have as much energy as I would have liked but I'm telling myself that I'm saving it all for Sunday! Glad to hear the repair to your car wasn't a huge expense. I know sometimes repairs can get out of hand sometimes. Did Hagen get to see any firetrucks or firemen during the fire drill?

Sue - How was the cottage? Did you have a relaxing weekend or was it a lot of work to close things up for the season?

Eva - How's your training going for W&D?

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning Team!

Mike and Liz – Happy Anniversary!!!

Vicky – Dogs do take awhile to dry out after swimming, but with the wind, they were almost dry by the time we got back to the car. One has a really thick coat all year round, the other sheds out all the undercoat in the summer, so her coat is not as thick. We are not headed off anywhere until the Denver Rock and Roll Marathon – that is next month. That does not count Scott’s business trips, he is headed to DC today.

Mike – You are sure going to be busy with all those races. We also have a local race to benefit animal shelter, it will be next weekend when Scott’s parents will be here, and we have done it as one of our dogs does not play well with others!

Kim – Congrats on the race, good that you got to meet Sally. If you were tired from travel, that probably also contributed to the slower pace than you wanted. It is hard to walk efficiently when you are tired!

Elizabeth – Congrats on the race, glad DD enjoyed it!

Dave – Congrats on the race! Glad to hear you had a good time!

Regina – Ah – the grape jelly – had 2 batches, the first without pectin did not jell, so I made second batch with pectin (and 7 cups of sugar instead of 3 cups of sugar) and it jelled perfectly, so today, I am going to redo the 1st batch with 4 more cups of sugar and a package of pectin to see if I can get it to jell! I do not know if this will work, if it doesn’t, I guess I’ll just have a quart of grape syrup! Glad to hear your cold is better. The women’s WISH shirts are shorter, I have 1 womens and one mens, the mens is longer, some say too long. I use the shorter one for short races – 5K’s – and the longer one for ½ marathons. I really do like the Race Ready shirts, they do not chafe me at all.

Margie – You are so inspirational!

AFM – Did nothing on Saturday – it was cold and misty all morning, high about 65 degrees, Sunday we went for a 12 mile bike ride – it was hot – high about 90 degrees! Today I got in 3 miles, and will do a Pilates tape before lunch, the start the house cleaning for our weekend visit from Scott’s parents. This evening I will re-do the first batch of grape jelly and see if I can make it jell.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hello everyone!

OMG it’s been months since I’ve been here.

Have worked out now and then but the heat this summer was way too much for me.

Have started a new routine with weights. I call it the old lady workout but with my neck it’s been the best thing for me. I use the Joyce Vedral video. I bought her book years ago but have finally looked at it, order the DVD and starting using it with very light weights. It has really helped my neck and I can already see a difference in my shape.

Walking now and then but Mark still having feet issues so he stretches it a lot and does the elliptical when he can.

The temps are cooler so it’s perfect for me. I could never live in the south. We have 66 days till our WDW trip so I’m trying to get in shape for that and hopefully Mark’s feet will hold up for all that walking.

Well I’m at work – just thought I would stop by and say hi to the team. Miss you guys and will now get some email updates since I’ve finally logged onto the website.

Good Afternoon Team!

Considering the weekend forecast of rain, we lucked out & had beautiful weather at the cottage. Can't believe that summer is almost over. :sad1:
How can it already be Sept 20th? January is approaching too fast.

Got in a 10k Sat. & took yesterday off. Not sure what I'm going to do tonight.

Kim/ Dave, Congrats on your great race results.

Mike, That's quite an ambition race schedule. :thumbsup2

Mike & Liz, Happy Anniversary!

Regina, DD is not in a traditional grade (ie grade 4/5/6 etc.) Her class is upper elementary. They work over a 3 year period with the same teacher to cover the required material.
Love strawberry freezer jam! Not sure about cream corn. It's been years since I've eaten any. Glad to hear you a feeling some better.

Vicky, Better to take the rest this week. Taking a couple of extra nights off is not going to make or break you on Sunday. I'm kind of disappointed I'm not running Scotia. Are you doing any other races before Jan.?

Margie, How's it going today?

Lynn, You've done crab apple butter now grape jelly. What's next on the list?

Have a great day everyone...........Sue

Sue - I think the deadline to enter Scotiabank is midnight tonight. You still have a chance!! :) I got a newsletter today say there were still spaces available in all three races.

Hi team! Just a quick post tonight. I've been keeping pretty busy so I haven't had time to check the boards. Things are going well for DH and I. We got out for a walk tonight, but haven't done many other work outs. Hope everyone is well.

Mike and Liz - Happy Anniversary!

Have a good night,
Emily

Now you need to concentrate on resting for this weekend’s
Scotiabank.

Liz-how are the early morning bike rides to work?

Hi guys, a quick stop as I go hurtling through life. I can't see a slow down place till Disney in January then the pace will slow to normal again. Sally won't be working till after the Disney trip unless she finds a company that will allow a 2 week vacation 2 months after she starts.

Denise is Mark having PF problems with his foot?

Margie good luck with the remodeling.

Vicky, I missed you at the USAF but told Kimmer to give you a super good hug from your big brother panda.

Lynn, I miss you guys a bunch, we have to cross paths next year.

Mike you are doing amazing.

Sue are you doing the race with Kim and Vicky?

Everyone have an awesome day, I'm off to work another 12 hr shift.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Denise - welcome back - good luck with the weight routine!

Sue - plums should be nearly ready to harvest when Scott's folks leave - I have been picking up the windfall and keeping them in the fridge. I will probably do plum butter - never heard of it before, but it is mentioned in my cookbook. Glad to hear you had a good weekend at the cottage - did I understand that it was your last weekend there?

Emily - good to hear from you.

Margie - you were up awfully early this morning, weren't you? Scott's parents live in Missouri. They are driving out to deliver some blueberries from their farm.

Dave - glad you are holding up with all that is going on in your life! Yes, we need to get together, don't know the schedule yet for next year, but we might make it to WDW at the same time.

AFM - Planning on another 3 miles today, did get a Pilates tape in yesterday, but no afternoon break for bike ride - too busy cleaning. Got the guest room cleaned out, and the guest bath half cleaned. (The guest room is a junk roon when not a guest room, so had to find room elsewhere for all the "junk".) I did re-cook the first batch of grape jelly, this time with pectin and lots more sugar. It did set, but the foam never really separated from the jelly so I could not skim it off, so the jelly is mixed with foam. Might just have to keep that batch for ourselves. More grape jelly for Scott! Todays high is only supposed to be 75 degrees, then back up to the 80's.

Pixie Dust for all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Good Morning Team!

Dave, Sadly no I'm not doing this weekend's race with Kim/ Vicky.
I'm next month in Niagara Falls. We start in Buffalo & cross over the Peace Bridge into Canada. With today's state of heightened border security we have to clear customs on Sat before receiving our bib & even have to carry our passports running.

Vicky, No I didn't cave on Scotia. It's too expensive to leave runs to the last minute to register. It will probably be back on my next year's race calander.
I am considering the Whitby 10miler in Nov. Do you have any other races before Jan.?

Lynn, Blueberry jam, pie, muffins etc. now your talking.:lovestruc

Margie, Yes last weekend at the cottage. The cottage is not winterized & the road is not plowed. It's too expensive to buy snowmoblies etc. Usually we spend some time in Oct there but we are heading to Disney next month resulting in the early closing.

Denise, Glad you had time to pop in for a visit.

Got out for 5 last night. Hoping to get out again tonight depending on the weather.

Have a great day everyone............Sue

Hi Team,

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes! We have decided to go for one more year!

We also decided to whittle down our marathon vacation at WDW to just the weekend. We will be staying at the Pop so we should be able to meet up with quite a few of you! We also save a weeks vacation for something else, but what to do? :confused3 Must noodle that one.

Dave ~ Don't work too hard!

Denise ~ Welcome back and hope the new workout routine goes well!

Lynn~ I am now craving grape jelly!

Margie~ Hope the furnace install goes smoothly!

AFM~ Busy day again, got home from work, took Robert to preschool, ran eight miles, picked up Robert, and researched our Jan. marathon trip. Liz is home early from work and cooking some Chinese food. I will eat and crash!
My run was a struggle as it is over 90 today ( with strong storms predicted later). I found out why when I got home and logged it, I set a new PR for eight with a time of 1:16:33 and a pace of 9:34. Happy but fried!

- Mike :cool2:

Hi Team!

Elizabeth- I’m glad the race was great. That’s so awesome it raised your daughter’s confidence! What a great benefit too. Just reading about it helps remind me to be a little bit more thankful for my ability to run (even if it’s really slow!) Good luck on your 5K on Saturday!

Dave- Glad you and Sally made it home safely! Great job on finishing! I’m so glad you didn’t have any PF problems!

Mike and Liz- Happy Belated Anniversary!!!!

Vicky- How’s your cold? I think it’s going around. I was sick with a cold last week and so were several others I work with. Seems like it hits shortly after the kids go back to school? Be careful with your knee! What did your physio say? Thanks for the encouragement on getting back into running! It was very helpful. Is the other shirt a better one? Or is it the same type of shirt again?

Lynn- I’m glad the 2nd batch of grape jelly came out well! How much did you get again? I ran in my race ready shirt today for the 1st time. I love the material, but am still concerned about the length. Pilates sounds like fun. I’d like to hear how your plum butter turns out.

Denise- I’m glad your new weight work out is helping your neck!

Sue- That’s neat your DD is not in a traditional grade and has the same teacher for 3 years. I don’t think I had ever heard of that before. Your race next month in Niagra Falls sounds like fun. I didn’t know they had races where you could run across the border?? That’s kind of good to know. Have you done that race before?

Emily- Hi! I’m glad things are going well for you and DH! How goes the house hunt?

Margie- I’m glad your furnace is installed and going well.

Mike- Way to go on the training! You just keep getting better!

AFM, I ran 3 miles today! First time in 2 wks. I ran the whole time, which was good. I have no idea what my pace was, but I’m guessing it was between 11-12min per mile, which is ok for now. I’m also volunteering with my friend on Saturday for the Women’s Fitness Celebration 5k run/walk thing, so that should be interesting. Will be a long Saturday though! Almost half way through the week!

You truly do a great job on your workout!
Yes, I was up at 3:AM :sad1: makes for a long day.
Oh Missouri is quite a drive.
Know the Visit and the Blueberries will be worth cleaning the guest room!

Mike- WTG on your 8-miler and very busy day!
It was hot and humid here too.

Regina- WTG on your 3-miler!
Will put your race on the Team Calendar.
:hugs: how is your cold?

Scott- safe travels!

Sue-WTG on your 5-miler!
Will check to see if your race is on the Team Calendar.

Vicky- :hugs: rest & taper for the Scotiabank on Sunday!

AFM: Furnace installation and repair are complete
He told (after he turned it down and showed me how) that I was
probably just Not used to hot water- I guess my old one was a bit defective :rolleyes1

Good Morning Team!

Mike – Sorry you had to cut your Jan. vacation short – I hope you meant an extended weekend, it is really hard to take everything in, with races Friday, Sat., and Sun. – but have fun. Congrats on your new PR!

Regina – I ended up with 12 8 oz jars and 2 12 oz jars of grape jelly. I will also be interested to see how the plum butter comes out. Have fun volunteering on Sat.

Margie - glad to hear that the furnace and hot water heater are installed and ready to go.

AFM – I did get in my 3 miles yesterday, but then again busy with cleaning (it takes a lot longer when you do not do major cleaning very often!). Got the master bedroom done – today is the kitchen area – the major chore will be to declutter the counters – finding space for everything that normally just sits out on the counters. It is misty and cool today – I think today is the cool day of the week, yesterday was near 80 if not above. It is supposed to rain later, and we really need the rain, so I will get our walk in this morning, then spend the rest of the day cleaning again.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good Afternoon Team!

What a storm we had blow through during the night. Haven't had thunder & lighting like that in a long time.

Margie, Did you get all your driving duties completed today? How is your DD feeling?

Regina, NF is a new race for me. DH has run the full before. This year he's doing the half & I'm doing the full. It has great spectator support. A school band or entertainment at every mile marker.
Good to hear you are back to training. Have fun volunteering on Sat.

AFM, Nothing exciting to report. Run 5 last night & will be spinning tonight.

I don't watch or have much free time to watch tv. Looking forward to the season premiere of Criminal Minds tonight.
Anyone have a can't miss show?

Have a great evening everyone.........Sue

Hi team! Just a quick fly-by for me today. I am resting up for Scotia on Sunday. Hoping to get rid of this cold and have my knee as close to 100% as possible. I've been pretty aggressive with the cold - lots of rest, gargling with Listerine, Oil of Oregano (jury's still out on that one but I figure it can't hurt), Vitamin C, chicken noodle soup, tea and lots of water.

I've been a little busy at work - it's close to our year end so lots of stuff happening with people trying to wrap up projects and finish their expenses. I also was asked to help to cast a couple of roles for a movie that's shooting overseas. I think that will work out in the end but the producer has been difficult to deal with. They're on a bit of time crunch and they're still trying to lowball people on prices. :sad2: In my experience, it's always been that prices go up when you're pushing for things in the last minute.

Sue - I've done the Whitby waterfront races for the past two years and really liked them. I'm thinking of the 10 miler as well although ... and this is the only time you'll hear me complain about it... why the late start time for the 10 miler runners? Especially if we have to be there at 8AM to do the packet pick up. Let me know if you decide to go for it!

Regina - WTG on your 3 miler! Have fun volunteering at the 5K this weekend!

Mike - Great pace as always!! :thumbsup2

Lynn - Good luck with the kitchen today! Sounds like you'll have a lot of jams and jellies for a while! How quickly do you guys get through them?

Margie - Glad to hear the installation went well! Hope everything's okay with Sara!

Denise - :wave2:

Well all of Sally's stuff is at my apt except the bare essentials that she needs to live over at her sisters house.

This is how my week has gone: Saturday did the USAF half marathon, Sunday the museum and the 6 hr drive home. Monday 2.5 hr drive to Paducah to work a 12 hr shift. Tues 12 hr shift in paducah and then a 2.5 hr drive home. Today, on 5 hrs sleep, I walked 6.5 miles with my group, 1:23 total time, drove to Nashville and loaded a UHaul with Sally's furniture and bins of stuff by myself, down stairs, then drove to Bowling Green and unloaded it all into my apt. Then I did 2 loads of clothes. Guys I'm beyond tired right now. Tomorrow I open the store and work only eight hrs.

Vicky get over that cold and have a super time with Kimmer.

Everyone have a magical evening.

Dave:hippie:

Wow, Dave, I'm tired just reading that.

Went to the Dr;s yesterday to have some moles removed, two on my face and one on my right side by the bra line. Could not shower for 24 hrs. So I decided not to work out yesterday.

Today came home from work and did my weight training for my arms and some lower body too. Not the full workout since I had to go out tonight but the shower felt good until I hit that place that had been dug, cut and burnt. YeOOOW. Hopefully, tomorrow night, it won't hurt so much by then.

I see a lot of upcoming races, and lots of routines being done.

My walking partner - dh, Mark has joined me in the workout dept since his Achilles is what is bothering him. He went to the Dr today so he has a boot, drugs and exercises to do for now.

Well it's late and I'm off to bed

denise

Good Morning Team!

Sue - our current "not to be missed" show is NCIS - I have the recorder set up to tape all new episodes.

Vicky - good luck on the race and pixie dust for the cold to be gone by then!

Dave - hopefully tonight you can get some needed sleep!

Denise - good to hear from you!

AFM - only a short walk yesterday, then spent the whole day on the kitchen - I did finish it!!!! Today, I will go for 3 miles again, then the floors and the living room are on the cleaning list. Scott will be home tonight.

Pixie Dust for all who are in need.

Have a great day team!
