Hakuna Matata - Fall-ing into the cool race season!

Hello team!

Elizabeth - Congrats on you race!

Vicky - I hurt my foot during the DL half. It was very painful to walk so I got it checked out by doc. She said no high impact activites for a few weeks. My foot feels fine when I walk but I went running Saturday and my foot did not like that. So, looks like no running for a bit longer. Congrats on your race! Hope your knee is feeling better.

Kim - Congrats on your race!

Mike - Congrats on your race!

Dave - Hope you feel better soon!

AFM - We had a good time at the concert on Saturday, it was a lot of fun. We went for a run Saturday morning, we took it easy and did W3/R1 intervals since we hadn't run since the half. I made it about 2.5 miles before my foot started to hurt. It hurt pretty bad the rest of Saturday, but felt fine Sunday. So, guess I need to rest my foot some more. DH and I have picked up colds and it's been over 100 deg here so we haven't done much the past couple days.

pixiedust: to all who need it!

Have a good night,
Emily

Hi Team!

Margie- So the Detroit Free Press Marathon goes over the bridge into Canada too? That’s so cool. What is DD’s new pain management system? Is that the same one you told me about before or is this something new? I can’t believe all that is going wrong over there! What did they say about your brakes?

Lynn- You seemed to get a fair amount of grape jelly. How did the plum butter turn out? DH and I love NCIS too!! Glad you finished the cleaning and the visit went well!

Mary- Hope you had fun on your cruise!

Vicky- How’s work? Has it slowed down at all? Officially, I just got a volunteer shirt for helping out, which is cool b/c I love t-shirts. But unofficially, since I was in the food tent and my friend was in charge, we came home with extra cheese sticks, water, and cookies. I didn’t really get any ideas from volunteering- we were helping 10,000 women and I’m hoping for 100 for my race so there’s really no comparison there. But, I’m volunteering at a water stop on 10/10 so I should learn something from that. Great great race report! I loved reading it. You are so inspiring. It is very impressive you were able to keep going and finish with a PB even with a hurt knee. You are awesome! How did your auditions go?

Mike- Great work on all your training! You are so ready for Wine and Dine! That’s cool you’re volunteering at the Chicago Marathon on 10/10. DH and I are volunteering for the City of Trees Marathon at Mile 13 Water stop on 10/10. Tell Liz to feel better soon!

Kim- Way to go finishing your race! I’m sure you cheered up those around you by singing! That’s a great way to make it through!

Emily- The running program I am volunteering for is going well. We have our “official” race with the girls on 10/16. The girls are a lot of fun to work with. I’m enjoying it a lot, but I’m so busy all the time, I’m not sure yet if I will do it next season or not. I’m glad your foot is feeling better. Sounds like you had a productive and fun weekend! Did the Dr. say what exactly is wrong with your foot?

Elizabeth- Way to go! Great job finishing your 1st competitive 5K!

Sue- That’s awesome the NF has good spectator support. It sounds like a lot of fun!

AFM, My can’t miss shows aren’t really can’t miss shows anymore. We are so busy as of late that we end up catching our “can’t miss shows” weeks later since we watch all our shows online directly from their websites.

I do not really feel ready for Wine and Dine. I have pretty much come to terms with the fact I will likely end up walking a lot of the half on Saturday and as long as I finish that’s the only thing that matters at this point. ;) I only got in 1 run last Tues (when I posted last). I’m hoping to get in one last one tomorrow, but I’m not even holding my breath for that because I have to work until at least 7pm and my day starts at 7:30am tomorrow. I’ve been working really long hours the last 2 weeks trying to get all of my stuff in order while I’m gone on vacation and I feel like I have so far to go and things keep coming up. That’s a whole other story though… Anyway, I just have to make it through 1 more long day and then we’re off to Orlando! Then, I think I will be much more excited because I won’t be so worried and stressed about getting everything in order. Wish me luck!

Good morning team!!!!

So jealous of you all heading to W&D this weekend!!!!

The scale finally moved this morning. Down 2 pds but better then that
lost 2 inches off my waist and 1 on my hips!!!! Also as of Monday at 2PM I gave up pepsi yet again.....this time I hope it sticks. I lost 40 pds a few years ago by only giving up pop.

Shoot later then I thought gotta run, have a awesome Wednesday all!!!

Good morning guys.

I'm back home from my Paducah adventure and now I have only a week before I get a day off. I'm meeting my race walkers in a little while and then heading off to open the store. When I get off I have to do marketing and then laundry and after that I'm getting some much needed lay flat time.

The State games are on Saturday so I have to hope for a few of the competition to have a bad hair day since I'm not ready for this at all. Grrr!

Have a magical day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Hi everyone!

Wow I see Lynn has recovered from her knee problems.

Dave – the family had the stomach bug a few weeks ago. Ginger ale, crackers was my meal of choice. Get over it quickly, you need to save your strength for the State games!

Vicky – good race.

Disney Gerry – How exciting to be a volunteer. I would love to do that too.

Margie- Wicked is THIS weekend. It will be a high of 60 in Boston so I get to wear a light jacket. We plan on exploring Chinatown and some fabric stores if we have time. I love Boston. There are 8 of us going. A local travel agent runs tours to the play and for $132 we get really good seats at the play, a bus ride, so we don’t have to navigate the streets of Boston, we don’t have to pay to park and we just enjoy the day.

Worked out Monday – upper, Tuesday – lower, and tonight is a massage so I have the night off. Whoo Hoo!

That’s it for today, I’m sure I missed a lot of you but hope the team has a FAB day and is pain free!

Wishing all the W & Diners a great race weekend. I'm waiting for all your race reports. Safe travels & enjoy!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – Next fruit to harvest is plums, this year there are quite a few, they are very small as plums go, but taste good, and I will do plum preserves or plum butter with them. They are still a bit hard, but I pick up fallen fruit every day. I imagine I will be harvesting them in a week or so. Good luck with your actors!

Mike – I did get a new bike – just not the fast road bike that he got. Mine is a hybrid with road bike tires and components. Pixie dust for Liz – hope she feels better!

Emily – Pixie dust for both your foot and your cold! Take care of yourself!

Regina – no plum butter yet, they are not quite ready to pick! Gives me a little break! Have fun in Orlando!

Kim – congrats on the weight and inch loss! Good luck giving up Pepsi, I can remember you giving it up before.

Dave – Hope you are feeling better! Get some sleep!

Denise – can’t say the knee problems have gone away, I just try to ignore them! I think I will be dealing with the arthritis in them for the rest of my life, or until I get knee replacements. Exercise actually makes them feel better, but I am sure that it slows me down, I still cannot walk the pace I used to be able to walk at. Have a great massage tonight!

Margie - good to hear DD is doing better with the pain. Pixie dust for her that it continues to improve.

AFM – the dogs and I got in 3 miles yesterday morning, it got hot really fast yesterday, and was quite warm while we were walking. We did break the record with over 90 degrees yesterday. I then got in 2 miles on the bike, doing a couple laps while going for the morning paper. Got in 20 min of Pilates – buy the way, I have been using Pilates for Dummies, and I am not that happy with it, I did like the Stott Pilates I used to do, but only have those on VHS, and no longer any room in from of VHS player, so I need DVD’s, The Stott Pilates on DVD is really expensive!! So I am looking for something new – any suggestions or recommendations? For Mike – today is breezy (20 mph wind) and mild – low was only 63 degrees instead of the normal 40 degrees, and the expected high today is 76 degrees – much more tolerable than yesterday!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone!

Dave - How's your stomach feeling? You sound better! Remember to keep taking it easy :)

Lynn - Plum butter sounds yummy! It must be a lot of work to get the stones out of all of them? But you probably have a good system in place :) Can you rent the Stotts pilate DVD from your library or Netflix and then put a copy onto your computer? I think there are also services where you can convert VHS to DVD discs.

Margie - My physio just said to take it easy (if I could) and did a massage on my knee. This time he got under the knee cap which was a weird and uncomfortable sensation. It hurt because the area was tender but there was also a funny bone kind of sensation too. I'm a little bit like Lynn as well - I just tend to ignore them and go easier on running. It's hard to stop running completely.

Denise - Enjoy your massage tonight and have a great weekend! It sounds like a lot of fun!

Kim - Congrats on your loss! Pop is so yummy but packs a lot of calories! Good for you :) Have you recovered from the race? Oh! My physio had a tube of Biofreeze! He said he got it as a sample and would try to figure out how to get some more!

Emily - Sorry about the foot! I have different body parts that seem to go every so often so I know it's not easy to stay away from running. Have you had your foot examined by a doctor or physio to make sure there aren't any fractures or serious sprains?

Regina - Aww shucks! Thanks! Safe travels to Orlando! Even though I like the cool weather here, I still wish I could be headed somewhere warmer. Make sure you can run once or twice when you get to WDW so you get a feel for the humidity and heat. Just a short 1 or 2 miler. Good luck on your race! And post a pic of the medal!!

AFM - The auditions went quite well yesterday. I saw at least three actors that I was very impressed with. One actor I had auditioned and cast in a previous film so I knew he was going to be good. Another actor was a recommendation from someone else but he turned out to be disappointing. He didn't have his lines memorized and admitted that he hadn't looked at the sides until just then  I wasn't very impressed.

I went for a training session afterward and had a pretty good workout. The funny thing I was telling my physio was that whenever I came to see him, my knee pain (or whatever else) usually wasn't too bad. But as soon as I leave the clinic  He did a mini massage on my knees and tried getting at the stuff under my kneecap which was an odd sensation.

I'm feeling better thanks. Not 100% yet but much better. I'm waiting for laundry to get done and finishing up a big plate of baked blackened catfish and potatoes, Yum.

My arch is hurting on the inside of my right foot, not sure how I've managed to hurt that? Kimmer said Mike was dealing with that also. It's been sore since the half 2 weeks ago. Has it really been two weeks? time is flying so fast.

Glad to hear everyone is doing good. Has anyone heard form our captain? Margie?

Lots of the team is biking, after I move I can do that again. I have one just don't live in a good area and I need to get it fixed.

Dave:hippie:

Dave,

Yes, Captain Connie is back.
I have talked to her twice.
She is fine, tired, and life is a bit hectic.
Then her friend, Cathy came for a fun week long visit.

Sometimes other areas of the foot start hurting due to the fact we seem to adjust our walking to protect the area of the foot that was injured.

Good Morning:

Boy am I sore today. All those muscles that I have found in the past few weeks have been found by Jen my massage therapist. She's a tiny thing but brutal. She's a runner, teaches kick boxing, spinning, yoga, competes in races and was in a relay last week - she had the hill portion and bested her time by 3 minutes from last year! I'm sure she has plenty of strength in her legs, but her hands and fingers kill. Sore today but by the weekend, it'll be AHHHHHHHHHHHH since everything will be relaxed and pain free. I highly recommend a massage a few times a year to work out those knots you have and can't release on your own.

Today we expect rain from some storm coming up the coast. We need rain badly. It does a number on my hair so I'll let it go today, It'll be wild and crazy. I guess I should find an outfit to go with the hair.party:

Hope your day is great, you have a few laughs and work out enough to feel good but not too much to feel bad.............my new motto. :rotfl:

Good morning team!!!!

Margie, I am pretty much starting from scratch so weight loss is only at 6 total right now but that will change:thumbsup2

Lynn: Yup I have tried a few times, once I gave it up for 5 months and lost 40 pds just by giving up pop. I find it so hard to just drink water and some fruit juices.

Vicky: I searched hi and low for biofreeze in Ontario and could not get it anywhere...had to get a secret shipment from Chicago:rolleyes1

Welcome back Connie!!!!

Dave we have total faith in you. You will give it all you got!!!!

Good luck to all racing this weekend!!!!!!

Good morning guys.

Kimmer thank you for the kind words but I'm going through a cow period right now. That's where you feel like the fattest slowest cow that ever lived. I will over come this but it's uphill right now. After the injury layoff, fighting that arch issue and I still haven't completely beaten that stomach bug yet.

Denise I like your new work out idea. That massage lady sounds like a force of nature.

Dave:hippie:

Dave-:pixiedust: it will get better...hope you are not sick as long as I was. It was terrible!

Denise-Yes-Yes-Yes somethings are worth the pain!

Kim-Congratulations 6#'s is Fantastic! :thumbsup2
I will check the list today.
I order the BioFreeze on line. It is also available at my Chiropractor.
It is not sold in retail stores locally.

Lynn-WTG on your 3-miler.
I just use the 10-minute solutions Pilate's. You can do up to
an hour if you get everything. I focus on Flexibility.
Have not heard of the Stotts Pilates (?) but will check it out.

Mike- Safe Travels!

Regina- :hugs: Safe Travels!

Scott- Are you home or on the road this week?

Sue-:wave2:

Vicky- :hugs: how can they massage under the knee cap-
its not like the can just move it aside! It sounds terrible.

AFM: Hagen & Sara did not sleep well last night; Hagen is
getting a cold, but did get a good breakfast...egg, bacon, pancakes
with low sugar jam, his LifeWay Kefir probiotic raspberry smoothie,
and diluted apple cider. (Apple cider has more fiber than apple juice)
Lunch was WAY light.

Me- Gym time has been delayed but hope to get there in just a bit!

Good Morning Team!

Margie~ No, I never made it to the new Disney store. I planned on going today but I wouldn't make it back until mid afternoon and I have to work again tonight. And, I really need some sleep! I'm planning to try again next week.

Dave ~ I hope the pain in your foot goes away soon!

Regina~ I will be looking for you and Kyle this weekend! Good luck!

Eva~Mary~ Maybe we will meet up also!

AFM~ This will be my last post before I leave tomorrow. I hope that all of you know that because of your encouragement and well wishes, I will be carrying each of you with me on this adventure. This will be my first half marathon, and my longest run (and race) that I have ever attempted. I could not be doing this without all of you! I also have a special Thank You to my beautiful and supporting wife for all that she does for me and for letting me run off on my own to complete this challenge. THANKS EVERYONE!

Wine and Dine Bib number 2217

Tomorrow, off to see the Mouse! -Mike :cool2:

Hi Team!

We are back from the cruise, and had a great time. Smooth sailing until last night when we were forced to go through the edge of the Tropical Depression. Rock and Roll Baby!! I don't get seasick, but I did feel a little "off" last night until a took a Bonine. DH and I went to the gym and ran on the DM's on Tues. Afterwards, I did a short lower body workout. Now my hamstrings are screaming at me saying, "What were you thinking??? Don't you know that we're on vacation too???" I'm sure they'll feel better by the Wine & Dine race on Sat. and if not, I'll just do my best.

Denise...I know how you feel about your massage therapist. Mine is named Leah and she is also small but mighty. DH and I had the couple's massage on the cruise, and that therapist didn't even come close!!

Dave...If the temp is 55 degrees in Paducah, I'm going to be in trouble when I get home to S. IN! I didn't pack anything but shorts and skirts for this trip! The only long pants I brought are my Mickey PJ's. Not sure if I want to wear those on the plane!

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes and PD for my cold. Feeling much better, just a slight lingering cough, mostly at night.

We are checked in at BWV and have been chillin' in our room doing laundry.
Going to head out to Epcot soon!

Good Afternoon Team!

I didn't get to post this morning because the dogs and I did a 10 mile walk! Then, right after I got back home, Scott wanted me to drive him and his bike back to work so he could ride it home - so he got a good workout in today also!

Mike - good luck to you on your first half marathon!!!!

Mary - glad to hear that you had a good cruise!

Margie - I have seen the 10-minute Pilates in the stores around here, but had never heard anything about them, maybe I'll try one of them. And yes, Scott is home this week!

Dave - take care of that foot - you need to be 100 percent for the weekend!

Kim - pixie dust to help you keep off the Pepsi!

Denise - great motto!

Vicky - glad the auditions went well for you!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great evening all!
