Hakuna Matata - August Days and Nights!!

Connie, you poor dear, that must have been awefull for you. I know when I have an encounter like that my heart rate goes into fight or flight mode and the adrinaline pump takes the last of my energy. Glad the dog didn't hurt you. You are a tough lady.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my race results. I'm encouraged that I seem to be getting stronger and my unique training methods are working. I do need to start doing some speed work soon, I've been putting that off. Right now my adaptation ideas are doing exactly as planned.

Scott have a good trip my friend.

Team, I worked an 18 hr shift yesterday and I didn't have internet access during that time, they installed new carpet in my store. I'm sorry I haven't caught up on everyone yet but I will.

Hugs to the pretty princesses. Extra one for Connie after her dog encounter.

Have a wonderfull day friends.

Good Morning Team!

Congrats to everyone on their training, everyone is doing a fantastic job!!!!

I went out for 6 miles this morning - it was cooler before the sun came up, after the sun was up, the wind picked up a bit which kept it from getting too warm. I had taken the tape off my knees for the wedding, and I forgot to put more on this morning, so my knees hurt more than they have been, will definately remember to tape them before tomorrows walk! My hip has been bothering me also, I think because of the heavy fanny pack that I carry water for the dogs and me in - maybe I should also try some lunges!

Bunnyfoo, and anyone else in Canada, we could pick up pins for you, and mail to Canada, we will not over charge you for shipping!

Scott - what did you do - call Erica at 0 dark 30 this morning and wake her up???

Have a great day everyone!

Lunges

http://exercise.about.com/od/exerciseworkouts/ss/bestbuttexercis_3.htm

This is what I do but without the weights and not so far down - I'm a newbie. I also stand near something in case I lose my balance and can grab onto it.

My hip was hurting so much Wednesday night it was keeping me awake, I do have some stiffness but it's way better today and has been since I started doing them.

Connie, the dog incident - how awful. We had that happen to us once at the track but it was a little ankle biter and in fact did attack Mark. It was clearly noted that no dogs are allowed. But you had it way worse than us.

No internet Dave - our computer died on Saturday morning. I called my DS Nick and left him a VM message to come over and bring his tools. It cost me parts for HIS computer since he took the power supply from his broken down computer. He had no $$ to fix it. I get the "used" power supply and buy him NEW parts but in the end, it was worth it, the puter got fixed quick.

Well back to work for me.

Keep at it all, we're doing great.

Just a fast drive by before I have to leave for PT!

Scott: Not to worry my friend! I am just glad that everything with you was
good!!! Was good talking to ya!

Lynn: I was able to go back to sleep after talking with Scott!

Connie: Ya gotta watch out for them there dogs! Glad you didn't get bit!

Will be back later!!

Erica:)

Did a really nice 6 miler with Dave this afternoon! Neither of us had our iPods with us so we got to chat awhile.

Tomorrow we will do at least a 10 miler!

Hope everybody has a great day!! I am going to enjoy watching the Olympics

Erica

Good evening, all.

Where is all this rain coming from? Just made it home from work and the sky opened up with very heavy rain and major thunder/ lightening. Went to the gym for pilates to find out the class was cancelled.

Haven't had a chance to get caught up on all the posts. Hope everyone's training is going well.

Had a great relaxing week at the cottage. Popping in quick to post last weeks mileage. I need to get back to :laundy: The machine just beeped me and I need clean workout gear for Tuesday nights track work.......Sue

Did a 3.25 miler tonight. 28 minutes or so (8:45 pace) on a hilly course. I was going to do 4.5 but I went out to friends for pizza. It was humid. And I know it sounds like I'm just making excuses, but I did get in 3.25 at what the McMillan says should be my tempo pace. Tomorrow I'm doing 4.5 to 5 miles even if it means working on the dreadmill.

Oh and I almost got run over by a deer. Top that!

Jennifer, yep that will be hard to top. Maybe one of our Canadian friends will have an encounter with a wild Moose or an elk, but if not you have the wild beasty story of the week.

We are off for a walk probably 10 miles and then I'm off to work.

Have a super day y'all.

Good Morning Team!

Dave - you and Erica are an inspiration - whenever I get tired, I just think of how many miles you two have been putting in! I'm planning on a 10 miler on Thursday - it would normally be Friday, but Scott is taking Friday off, so he will want to get down to the basement to start work ASAP. (I do hope the part for his compressor shows up before then, or he will be really disappointed.)

Today, the dogs and I did another 6 miler walk - I remembered to tape my knees before I left, so I was alot more comfortable than yesterday. It stayed cool during my walk this morning, even though I started a little later than usual.

Erica - glad you were able to get back to sleep! I always turned off my phone when I worked graveyards and slept during the day!

Have a great day!

Hi guys.

I ended up doing another 6 miles last night. I didn't get run over by a deer, but a raccoon and I ran from each other!
:lmao:

Doing the shopping and stuff, today.

ugh. so i slept in this morning and it's been cool and gray so i decided i'd go ahead and run this afternoon. of course as soon as i get all stretched and laced up it starts raining. so now i'm staring out the window waiting for it to stop.

I feel your pain. Was pouring this morning so we didn't go. Just got home from work and it's starting to sprinkle. I think there is blue sky around so we'll wait it out.

Keeping my fingers crossed that by the time I change my duds, it'll clear.

so i ignorantly decided to run in the rain. while the actual run wasn't that bad with a hat, i learned a very important lesson. cotton absorbs moisture. this does not merely apply to sweat; it also applies to rain. i think my t-shirt must have weighed 5 pounds by the time i got back.

i ended up getting in 3.25 in 27:00 (8:30 mpm). not bad with the weather. i had planned to go for 4 but the rain started annoying me at three. tomorrow's an off day. i think on thursday i'm gonna try to do some speedwork, but first i have to find a good 800m flat stretch to use.

oh and no deer today. although my thought after the fact about what would have happened if it hit me was the like that scene in gilmore girls. "you hit a deer?" "no, i got hit by a deer. i have the antler marks to prove it"

steff, raccoons can be scary. especially at night when they vaugely resemble small bears. we had a rabid raccoon on my college campus so i'm kind of paranoid about them. lol

Hi Team!!

No animal encounters for me unless you count Panda!!!

Was supposed to do 10 miles this morning, but ended up doing 7!! Then it was off to PT! I crosstrained for 30 min on the weight machines and 30 min on the bike!!

Lynn: Hope the part comes in before Scott gets home!!

I won't be getting any work out tomorrow as I'll be in class all day!

I hope everybody has a good night!!

Erica:)

Good Morning.

We did the 5 last night. Miranda had the wrong socks on and got some nasty blisters so make sure you always wear the right gear!

The rain held off and then the dark skies just moved on, we never did get the bad storm over us.

No time to do my miles today, thankfully my race tomorrow night will count for double since my miles are a bit less this week. I seem to have those times, a good few weeks and then one off one. I guess the body and life catches up to you.

Mark has threatened to wear his cowboy hat, chaps and 2 six shooters to the race. He's such a cowboy but I gave him the eyebrow this morning so I don't think he'll do it. I'm sure he'd make the newspaper and ACTIVE will be taking pictures at the race so it probably would be a first for them too.

Well, 2nd cup of coffee is calling so I'll sign off.

Have a good one - gee maybe we can go a whole day without rain? Maybe not.

denise

Denise, how cool that hubby dresses up as a cowboy for you. And people say I'm an incureable romantic, he is da man.:worship: Erica's favorite song is "Save a horse, ride a cowboy". I did go buy a hat, and we ain't ever going to vacation in Texas:eek:

Jennifer good workout. You are really coming along.

Erica, Panda encounter:yay:

Margie are you out there? Did the little ones eat you?

Connie, how is the shoulder doing did you discuss it with the Dr yet?

Canadian friends, thanks for keeping the door open so your cool air keeps coming this way.

Lynn, hi princess, are you enjoying the quiet with Scott off on one of his missions?

For me it's back to normal training for me. I'm rested from the race and the 24 hr day. I do have a sore calf muscle that I need to stay in tune with.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Just time for a quick check,

been getting in warm morning runs, things a pretty quiet at 0500 here in Dallas.

Been busy no much time,

Wishing all the best in their training, and races,

Denise you can tell Mark I have been wearing a 10 shooter on my runs.

Jennifer great dedication, you go.

That is as far back as I got , gotta run

Later kids be safe have fun and enjoy getting healthy and fit.

Hey all! I'm here at work early so I thought I'd stop in. I'm still a busy bee and I feel like I'm missing stuff when I can't check in here enough. Hope all of you are doing great! I did catch something about a cowboy, a deer, a racoon, a dog...it's a wild world in here...or out there...or whatever!

I'm a worry wart and a planner due to my Capricorn personality so my Disney touring plans keep changing and changing back and I can't make up my mind about anything any more! It's Jordan's first time there and I'm really hoping to make it as magical as I can for him (without overdoing it and going commando on him). I've started packing my trial sized goodies and a couple of outfits that I know I won't wear until then....it's only 18 days away!!!

Training is going ok...I ran my 14 miles on Monday (but I really felt the last 5 miles). Knee is still bothering me on my LRs...but I'm now thinking it's due to the banked country roads that I run on. I also forgot a third GU and I skipped my banana before my run so my calves were burning something fierce by the end of it all. The moral of the story? RUN SMART!!

Catch ya later!
-Eva

The weather is beginning to cool down which is nice for running and walking but it reminds me that fall is just around the corner. I'm surprised at how quickly the months are flying by.

Wildlife ... hmm... I came across a gaggle of Canadian geese on Sunday. It was raining and they were walking on the path I needed to run through. Normally, I would have gone around but the grass was muddy and I didn't want to slip. Okay, the real reason is I didn't want to get my shoes muddy  So I ran through the middle of them and I got a lot of hissing. I also see rabbits, squirrels and groundhogs but they usually run away before I get too close.

Scott - I have the same problem with my Garmin downtown too.

Denise - I do the same lunges with my PT. I've been at them for a couple of months now so he has me doing them with a medicine ball. I hold the ball straight out, lunge and then twist to one side with the ball, bring it back to the center and start my second lunge.

Lynn - Thanks so much offering! That would be great but only if it's not too much trouble.

Connie - That's must have been terrifying! Good shot though! Your story reminds me that I should go and get some pepper spray the next time I'm at my running store.

Jennifer - I have the same luck with rain and running!

Good Morning Team! Beautiful day here in Cheyenne. I was supposed to do a bike ride this morning, but the wind has kicked up (it has been really calm in the mornings), and I hate riding in the wind. Just did a short walk with the dogs, will have to get a pilates tape done later, and if the wind dies down, I may still get that bike ride in. It has been a little cooler here lately, and yesterday there were no evening storms. Will also have to get the lawn mowed as it is supposed to rain the next two days.

Dave - are we going for the same "Hakuna Matata" pins, or will we each just get one we like? I have offered to get one for Bunnyfoo, and I will wait until the TOT if we are going uniform, otherwise, I will pick up a couple on this next trip.

We have been seeing alot of Canadian geese on our walks too, but they are not on the road, they are in the fields beside the roads. Have not seen the antelope lately - do not know where they got to.

Scott isn't exactly on a mission - he is at a conference - and, yes, the house is quiet without him here. Yes, we miss him - the dogs because they know they cannot beg from me!

Have a great day everyone! (Time for my FIRST cup of coffee!!!)
