Hakuna Matata - August Days and Nights!!

Heading to Dalls next week, looks like high heat warnings, will try and get out early or do the hotel Dreadmill.

Dave way to go mi amigo.

Gotta get my but out tomorrow morning, 5 k min.

Connie hope that shoulder get better, hang in there.

Jennifer you will do great this Fri Night.

Forgot to add we saw Wall-E on the ship, I really liked itr, I thought it was a strong message about our society, maybe I was looking too deep, It will be out on DVD this Nov fro teh Christmas sales.

Scott, glad to know you liked Wall-E. I've been debating going to see it vs. waiting for the DVD.

I got my neighborhood 3.5 route in this evening. Just under 30 minutes.

I forgot to mention that my trip included a stop at the Reebok outlet. Running tights, running jacket, two tops, and a new pair of shorts all for under $50. Much better than my local running store where I usually only buy 1 or 2 items for that price.

Jennifer

Hey there team!

Just a quick drive by. We have been busy busy bee's this week. I had my sister here with her kids and we did all kinds of fun stuff (and some unhealthy eating). I gained this week at WW and I was not happy. I'm still ok on my maintenance, but a lb and a half more and I'd have to start over. EEK!

Training is going well...allergies are bad...working through some knee pain. I love my new shoes, but the pain started right after I started in them. I'm hoping that it will stop when I start to rotate them out.

 to all of you under the weather or needing it right now!!

To the rest...HAPPY TRAINING! :woohoo:

Good morning, Team!

Thanks for the wells wishes for my shoulder. I appreciate them very much.

Bill paying day, today. Yippeeee!!! It's always good to have the money to pay the bills.

Off to get some miles in. I didn't make it yesterday, I felt yucky, but that was the last of the medicine.....

Morning everyone! I got in some miles on the weekend as well as some time with my PT yesterday. The weather was great for the weekend - mostly hot and not too humid. I think I've finally figured out what's been holding me back from running faster - my water pack. I ran on Sunday without it because I didn't have time to fill it up and my pace improved by 1.5 minutes. I guess the pack was heavier than I thought.

Jen - That's quite the haul! Gotta love those outlets :) Good luck with your race on Friday!!

Connie - Hope you're feeling better! My DF is having shoulder pain too. I'm hoping to do the Goofy in 2011 but I think I have to give a full marathon a try first.

Scott/Lynn - Welcome back! The cruise sounded fun! Lots of wildlife!

Eva - Sorry to hear about the knee pain. If it gets really bad, have you thought about a sports massage or ART? It really helped me when I was having pain earlier in the year.

Dave - Congrats on the PR!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Here at work so it has to be short. And Tuesday is always a busy phone day. So Mark and I got up late – 4:59 am because something jolted me awake. He was in a sound sleep but managed to get up and dressed. We did not go for a PR because my hip has been bothering me and it was good to just do the 5 at a good pace but not exceed our time.

Mark said his hips weren’t working as he was trying to do my stride. His stride is longer than mine and he’s always ahead of me. I do 1 ½ steps to his 1 so I always seem to be playing catch up. Especially if he gets Grand Funk Rail Road in his ear – yes that’s dating ourselves! Sheeh look out, he’s off!

So we head back to the house and going into the shower and I look at him. The little brat has started to lose his belly fat, he wears a 32 in waist now can you image if he continues! So he’s helping me train but in the end, his help is also benefiting HIM.

Scott, I agree I was worried about the “message” in Wall-e but it was not too bad but it did make me want to continue to train hard!

My favorite Pixar character is still E-Mode. I love her, she sews, she’s a no –nonsense kind of girl. No Capes!

Woke up early to a Malamute in my face, too dark to go out, so waited 1/2 and hour, nice and cool, did a 3.5 miles course.

Here at work and very busy.

I think the messgae in Wall-E was a good one that we need to listen to, yes it did make me want to train harder. That is a good thing. I would love to talk to the director about that aspect of the film.

Will get it on DVD for sure, might even be one of those new blue ray dudes.

Hi All!!

Scott: I too liked Wall-E and the message that it held! Our society is full of to many couch potatoes! And a few of us that are working hard to be fit and healthy!

VR: You can do it!!! Don't let the small weight gain get you down!! Put in the steps and you will be able to stay in maintenance!

Did a 10 miler this morning with Dave! We started around 5:45 and finished before it really got hot!! Humidity was high and I was leaking pretty good!

Hope everybody has a really good day!!

Erica:)

Good Afternoon Team!

OK, now I am fairly caught up.

I gained only 3 pounds on a 7 day cruise! (The norm being 10 pounds). I guess my morning walks, and never using the elevator paid off! Now to get that 3 pounds, and maybe a few more off before the next cruise. I do not feel ready at all for the DL 1/2 marathon - I will try to fit at least one 10 mile walk in before we go. This Sat. we have the Susan Komen 5K - then a wedding in Denver that evening, Scott flys out Sunday morning, so we are staying in Denver Sat night so he will not have to drive home Sat night, then drive back on Sunday morning.

I did get in 6 miles this morning - did not do too badly with the altitude adjustment - I usually have more problems coming from sea level.

Connie - hope you feel better now that the medicine is gone!

Dave - great job!!!

I sometimes wonder what I got myself into signing up for the full marathon at WDW in Jan. I wonder if I will every be ready for a full - I will have to see how I fare at that before even thinking about the Goofy - now Scott is doing the Goofy in Jan, will see how he fares!

OK - time to get to work - have some painting to catch up on!!!

Lynn you will have plenty of company and support in the marathon this year and if the goofy the next year if you do that.

Scott, I have woke often to a chocolate lab breathing on me wanting to go romp outside.

Eva, hope you feel better.

Connie I hope you feel better also.

Are our Canadian friends feeling this heat wave we have here in the South?

Erica the wonder princess and I did a 10 miler this morning early so beat some of the heat but it was humid so we were leaking profusely.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Tired Panda:hippie:

Greetings Team!

Sounds like some great happenings - trying to catch up on the run. :goodvibes

Thanks Connie & Erica - schedule is less hectic and think the exhaustion & headaches are due to the heat. :upsidedow

Connie, is your shoulder doing better?
Congrats on your latest PR :hippie:
:hippie: & Erica on the 10 miler

Eva, take care of that knee! :flower3:

Maybe will get back on schedule this week.
Anyone - I need a good 10 week training schedule for October 19th Detroit Half.

Have not seen Wall-E :confused3

Happy Training and Keep Hydrated!

10 miles! Holy cow Dave & Erica. 5 is my limit before work. I guess that’s why I train for the ½ and have no desire to do the full.

Lynn, I’m sure the excitement of being in DL and doing the half will carry you through. I know Scott is going to Dallas soon, hope he finds a dreadmil since it’s so darn hot there. I’m going to Houston in October but even though it’ll be cooler I won’t venture onto unknown streets so I will hit the dreadmill at some point during my days there. The George R. Brown Convention center is plenty big and will get some steps but not a workout, except my wallet!

VR, a pound up, a pound down, ah well Cest La Vie! Went to the Dr’s yesterday
and the young girl weighing me started at a very low point, I looked at her and said, Ah Get Real! We laughed but I pushed that scale up – Nice of her to think I was that thin!
On the other hand my BP was 108/64 which for me is something to write on the calendar, that was a pleasant surprise and no “white coat” syndrome for me.

Have a good night all!

denise

Denise, :yay: for the blood pressure. Sounds like you are changing into an endurance athlete. The full is way more of an adventure than a half. It has to be done to understand, it's not like the half only longer. But once you do it most keep coming back. You will feel more tired and more alive than you can imagine.

Margie, get some rest Darlin. You have so much going on that you need some down time to just be a veg and recharge. You are gonna have so much fun at Disney that you will be hooked like the rest of us.

Erica and I have gone to ground for the night. We are both whipped, the 10 miles in the heat and the yard work took all our energy away.

Have a super evening everyone.

Resting Panda:hippie:

margie, have you tried smart coach? it's on runners world and offers free slightly customized (as far as goals, distance, and current fitness level) plans?

panda, isn't this southern heat killer. ugh.

As for me, i only got 2 miles in. mexican food, heat, and humidity lead to bad stomach cramps. it was still 85 and humid at 8 pm. any way, tomorrow's my off way and then i'm gonna run my practice 5k on thursday and have an actual race friday night. if i may brag, even with all the issues the two miles were both at an under 8:30 pace.

I went out in the heat after work yesterday and ran 3 miles...in my old shoes. No knee pain. Now I have a dilemma of telling my wonderful DBF that his shoes (that he paid an arm and a leg for) may be the issue. And another dilemma of trying to find different shoes. Ugh. Shoe problems again!

My little baby got spayed yesterday and she is home and doing fine. Still a little woozy and not eating much, but they said that's to be expected. I'll add a pic of her if I can find one...

Jennifer - You are one speed demon...no wonder you keep winning races!

Denise - Yay for that nurse...I always like it when people under estimate the size of my booty! And that BP..good for you!

Lynn - Travel adds major water weight. Eat plenty of fresh foods (stay away from extra sodium) in the next few days and drink your 8 glasses a day and those pounds will drop off in no time. Last time we went to Disney I came home around 7 lbs heavier and watched myself for 4-5 days. When I went to weigh in at WW I told them that it might be bad since I was on vaca...and I had actually LOST!

To the rest...thanks for the knee wishes. Happy training!

Good morning team mates.

Eva that puppy is awesome cute. Do I suspect that it is spoiled rotten?

Jennifer, good luck with your race, I have my first competitive race this year on Saturday. Maybe the race spirits will be kind to both of us.

Denise, people usually guess my weight at much less than it is. I used to always beat the carnival guys who guess weight and if they miss it by more than 5 lbs you get a prize. Does anyone else remember carnival midways like that?

Margie and Connie:hug:

Wilber, Kim and Bunny, can you guys send us some cooler air?

Lynn, are you guys cruising again this year? Can Erica and I sneak in hiding in a steamer trunk or something?

Scott it will be fun comparing training notes. I have some good results to share.

Well I'm stalling here, I need to get my ears in gear and get my workout done. Today will be an easy day since I'm racing Saturday.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Walking Panda:hippie:

I took yesterday as my rest day since I did my training session on Monday. It worked out since we had heavy rain all afternoon anyway.

Dave - We have slightly cooler weather but the humidity is a killer. Our A/C shut off accidentally last night and it was really sticky when I woke up.

Lynn - Congrats! A gain of 3 pounds is awesome considering all the food that's offered on a cruise!

Eva - Your puppy is super cute!

Well, I'm off! Stay cool and hydrated today everyone :)

Morning Kids, up and out for the run o the day, did some work on the basement so I feel better about that, will do more tonight.

It was cool but humid this morn, I musta been to sleepy as I did not get teh run recorded with the Garmin.

Dave your training results will soar over mine.

Mega busy at work as we are presenting a new software at teh Dallas conference, lots of testing and fixin going on.

Later, all you training and speed demons

Panda, I'm sure you'll do great at your race. My mom has her first race this weekend too. All that training is going to pay off big time.

Villians' Rock, What cute puppy! What's her name?

Today's my off day but my mom and I are going to go drive the course to check the condition and layout. Also, in the good race news, the weather said it's going to rain tomorrow night so it will be cooler on Friday night.
