I was reading the thread from Webmaster Kathy where she describes what her mother went through while volunteering in Haiti. Here it is for anyone who hasn't seen it...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2373375

Many have expressed sympathy and I'm sure many have made generous donations to various relief efforts. I thought it would be fun to see how much we could raise towards the effort on the Disboards. Kathy's mother volunteers for Project Medishare. Let's all donate to that one organization and see how high we can get our numbers. Here is the organization that Kathy's mother volunteered with...

You can donate through this link by clicking the "Help Now" tab. Then click on the "Donate to an Existing Team" tab and scroll down to the "Team Disboards" tab. Click on the "Team Disboards" link on that page and you will be able to make a donation and see our current total.

To make things even easier, here is the direct link to our team donation page...

Please donate and enter your Disboards screen name on the Honor Roll to show support for the wonderful work of Kathy's mother, and help the team members that are in the country right now saving lives.

I started us off with a $25 donation. Our team page will keep a running total of our donations. The Disboards have over 250,000 members. Even if you can only give $5 or $10, that's great. Hundreds of small donations will lead to something huge.

There are parents who have lost their children. There are children that have lost their parents. So, no matter what your views on various issues may be, let's remember that this is an issue of humanity. Many of us are parents. When we see pictures like this...

let's do more than offer our sympathies. Let's open up our wallets to help save as many lives as possible. These children aren't dreaming about a Disney vacation or birthday presents. They are dreaming about one day being able to see their mothers and fathers again and wishing that the pain will go away. Let's all show how generous the Disboards can be.

Again, here's the link to Project Medishare...

For our first act of the day, I present a cat eating spaghetti...

Wasn't she great? She just loves pasta.

Oh, I just wanted all potential donors to know that as a special thank you, we are able to offer unlimited, free monorail rides on your next trip to Disney World. Just tell the monorail attendant at each station, "I have seen the spaghetti eating cat", and they will let you on free of charge, knowing that you have donated to a wonderful cause.

Wow! After seeing that cuddly kitty, I know we're all ready to start giving...

We had a second collection this morning for the Boston Foundation Haiti Relief and Reconstruction Fund sponsoring work such as the building and stocking of an interim hospital in Port-au-Prince (the Ansara family is matching dollar-for-dollar). The son of one of our members is actually on-site helping with the building. It felt great to be able to feel such a clear connection from what we were giving to what was being done with that donation to make things better for those in need.

Our next act is very exciting. A group of talented pets have decided to put on a Star Wars Fashion Show. And here they are now...

Weren't they great? Let's all give a round of applause to these young models. Don't forget, we are doing all this for an excellent charity that is saving lives everyday. Again, the link to donate is...

Darth Kitty is my favorite. He just has that "I'm a Sith Lord" look on his face.

:darth:

I think this is great. I donated.

I love the Star Wars fashion show. Very cute.

ETA - I don't know if I did it correctly to show on the Disboards team. Hopefully it will show up correctly.

I'm not allowed to say, but I have a feeling that one of these contestants will be the next American Idol. Isn't it great that they have taken time out of their busy schedules to lend a paw of support?

If you would like to lend a paw, here's the link to donate...

I think the hamster is going to win. i just know it.

Those pictures are great Wall-E, and so is this thread.

Thanks, and thank you so much for the generous donation you made earlier today!

(Said sarcastically)And thanks so much for ruining the ending of this season's American Idol. Now that everybody knows that the hamster is going to win, nobody will watch. I would like to formally apologize to the producers of American Idol for Bluestar's big mouth.

We can pretend the hamster's name is Adam Lambert and that he should have won, but he gets knocked out by a more popular, main stream character.

Perhaps the kitty with the Bret Michaels inspired hair weave, whose name happens to be Kris Allen.

Hi WallE! I found the thread! I just wanted to add two little things. I didn't watch the Hope for Haiti telethon but on another thread they were talking about Madonna so I had to look it up on youtube. Upon doing that, I found this amazing song and it's my new favorite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxOWHu6Oyt8 It would be fantastic if you could have music play when you open a thread!

Also, here is another link that gives me warm fuzzies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

And now off to find my purse.

I don't have the intelligence or technical know how to add audio to my threads. You see, I was raised by a pack of wild meerkats, and therefore have no formal education in the technology field. Although I am adept at spotting predators. I do however have that song. It's on the Hope for Haiti album. The whole album is for sale on itunes.

I also enjoyed the second link to the video with Matt dancing. His dancing reminded me of myself dancing - no rhythm whatsoever, yet oddly infectious. I do believe that Matt was dancing around the world to show all of us that we may all live in different countries and on different continents, but we are all one people and need to take care of one another. I'm sure Matt would wholeheartedly endorse donating to Project Medishare and easing the pain and suffering that the Haitian people are currently enduring. Here again is that link for everybody...
