I came across this thread where they supposedly were to be moved from WL in April as WL would be closed all of 2021.

Wondering if this has impact on MFs and its also strange that so many people could be moved to Kidani (maybe not that many people are booked that far out though).

Wilderness and Animal Kingdom are both unable to be booked in April for the random dates I picked so seems to possibly be true.

I think many of the people moving are guests who are changing dates to 2021 and Disney will not let them book any resort not yet announced,

So, WL has not been given an open date and therefore, anyone booking for 2021 now is being forced elsewhere,

But, I do know Disney is allowing guests as far out as December who call move their trips to an open resort at the same level.

Wow I am late to the news lately.

WL closed 2021? Just regular hotel rooms?
Are DVC rooms and facilities open?
Thanks
Kerri

I made a res at Copper Creek for June 9-18 (2021) the day before yesterday, no problem. Am I misunderstanding the question?

No one knows when WL is open. As was said above, Disney won’t let anyone book a resort that doesn’t have an opening date.

Both Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek are open now. The facilities are open although Whispering Canyon has not opened yet. If it follows the patterns of other resorts, it won’t open until the hotel side of Wilderness Lodge opens.

Makes perfect sense to wait & gauge the CV numbers/demand before setting themselves up to have to move huge blocks of guests again

WLV is one of our home resorts. non 11 month availability for studios there & copper creek is still slim fall into Xmas dates this year. Really, no surprise as it’s always a great resort & decorated lovely for the holidays. Am wondering if that will be curtailed this year though.

They have 2 cash resorts open right now (Pop, CR) and they can’t fill them. Pop has sections still closed, resort guest availability for park reservations is still basically fully available, and despite relocating most Deluxe and many value and moderate guests into DVC rooms, there still fantastic availability this week for pretty much every DVC room type, even the hard to get ones.

With no EMH or FP+ there’s little incentive to stay on site, it appears that locals are the dominant guest population right now. They are supposed to open a 3rd (CBR) in a week but anything after that I would think at this point is extremely subject to change.

Which is a long way of saying Wilderness Lodge’s cash side really could be closed well into 2021 at this point. Our ability to control/defeat Coronavirus will decide when the resorts open, not Disney.

Yeah, I think that Disney is accurately aware that allowing guests to stay onsite where they cannot get into any parks would be a recipe for extreme disappointment,. So they are probably reluctant to open hotels until they know for sure they have the park capacity. There is not a warm fuzzy feeling yet about park capacity enough to raise it. True, they are not overbooked but from what I hear from the bloggers, HS got reasonably busy.

So I think there is a bit of a A before B before C. They can't open hotels until there is demand. Further, they can't open the hotels until the parks have capacity. They can't increase the park capacity until Florida's hot spot dies down a little and the parks have been operating for a bit and get the new normal under control.

I think the Reason WL is closed for all of 2021 is because having Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge open is already enough guests there to comply with social distancing. Adding in the other half of the main WL building to the mix in Cash guests would just be too many people. Thats my 2 cents.

I just hope they open Whispering Canyon.

Just for clarity for anyone reading, Wilderness Lodge is not closed through all of 2021. It is closed until further notice, and as such, they are not taking any new cash bookings until said further notice.

They will reopen it whenever it makes sense to, and that may be in 2020, 2021, or 2022.

It is closed until further notice

Go to the thread where I found it that does not seem to be the case. They would not be proactively moving guests if it was "until further notice".

It is at least sure closed through April if they are proactively moving people in April. With everything going on at Disney it would seem like a huge waste of resources to try and get guests move all the way out in April unless its for sure closed.

Disney isn’t calling people booked in 2021 to move them.l.that is not how I am reading things,

People are calling to either check or move trip and being told it can be moved to WL.

There are posters in some of the other threads who have late fall trips there who have not yet done anything and it’s still an active reservation.

All the resorts not given an open date can not be booked in 2021 yet...I think Disney got smart so they don’t have to move people again.

The OP is referring to the hotel (non-DVC) side of WL. The two DVC Resorts located at the WL are open.

Totally confused here. Is WL not open to book in 2021 for CASH guests? I have a fixed week at CCV (DVC) so I better have that reservation in 2021. This thread is very confusing.

WL is the cash side and the link to the thread is from the cash hotel forum on this site.

The DVC is open and operating.
